Had a wonderful lobster dinner with salad, mussels and desert at the Shore Club in Hubbard’s NS Lovely staff and ambiance After a day at the beach on my birthday, it was just the thing with a cold beer. We even bought the naughty black t shirt. Thank you Mr. Harnish, Jackie and interesting bar tender. Connie Brauer and Vic Harris, Falmouth, NS.

Kitsch, kitsch and more kitsch… but great meal! Where else can you get a small lobster for $ 30.50 that includes all-you-can eat mussels(which were plump and delicious), all you can eat salad bar, rolls, dessert, and coffee or tea for $ 30.50? The medium lobster is $ 36.60 and the large $ 42.00(I think). And there are 20 different wines for $ 20.00 a bottle!!! It’s such a reasonable price for such a delicious meal with such kitschy, fun surroundings that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. First of all you have to find the place, cuz Hubbards isn’t exactly a thriving metropolis. When you step into the place you see a huge room filled with 6-foot tables covered in red and white checked plastic tablecloths, a stage(for the band that plays on the weekends), and netting on the ceiling with wooden seagulls above. The service is friendly and efficient and you leave there just loving the place. I can’t wait to go back — already went twice in one week! you GOTTA eat here.

I don’t get the hype. Lobster was way too salty. Salad bar was not very appetizing and the bread was less than good. 2 positive things: $ 20 bottles of wine and the mussels were good. Service was not great. Servers would constantly walk in front of us, trying to sneak in quickly and being rude about it. I will never, ever return there!

Ever since I realized that my mother was lying to me all those years as a child when she said we didn’t like lobster, I’ve enjoyed a feed or two every season, until I married a man who is severely allergic. Now it’s a strategically timed event. I’m so very glad I found this place as I think I’ve found a great place to support my lobster addiction. My dining companion is a frequent customer of the place so it was nice to have someone who knows the ropes so to speak. Although, the owner who seated us was very good at explaining how it works. The hall itself is very reminiscent of the old church hall lobster suppers I remember, though a bit brighter, cleaner and well maintained. Having been around for over 65 years, they’ve got this down to a science and do it very well. First you order your main. There are different sizes of lobster available but also other options like chicken or strip loin or some sort of vegetarian pasta. Edited to add that you can get just the salad bar for 17.95, that would include the mussels as well. Between 4:00&5:00 they currently have a special for around $ 20 for the small lobster dinner. They have a small list of red & white wines available for $ 20 a bottle, even had one of my favourite whites, Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc. Once you’ve placed your order you’re free to go to the salad bar dory and begin the adventure. There was plenty of veg and greens to build your own salad or several pre-made salads from which to select. These included the must have for a lobster supper, potato salad as well as a carrot & raisin, curried chickpea, broccoli, pasta salad and I think a coleslaw. Everything was fresh and tasty and kept well chilled. There is also a couple warming drawers where you can find the all-you-can-eat mussels. There were some lovely fresh dinner rolls as well. During the meal, the staff were quite attentive in keeping the water glasses/wine glasses full and great at emptying the«shell bowl». You can have a bib and there is a roll of paper towel if things get a bit messy. There is a table where you can serve yourself coffee or tea. After the main, we got to select our dessert from one of three options; a blueberry cake, chocolate brownie with ice cream and a lemon layer cake. My dinner companion advised I choose the last and she didn’t steer me wrong, delicious! It can get a bit noisy, but that’s half the atmosphere. It is one of the best experiences I’ve had at a «lobster supper», I hope to get back more often now that I’ve found the place.

I’m really glad I didn’t review The Shore Club after my first visit to this perfectly charming maritime lobster hall last summer. Looking back, my expectations were really out of whack that made for an admittedly dramatic hate-fest for what played out. The Shore Club is, not surprisingly, a lobster restaurant. Not a restaurant that specializes in lobster, not a restaurant that has some lobster dishes, not a restaurant that accommodates all varieties of eaters including those who eat lobster… this place is ALLABOUTLOBSTER. So, when this wee vegetarian showed up expecting to be able to choose something different only to find a single vegetarian dish(pasta with a plain sauce), no one was surprised but me. Upon my second visit, I was much better prepared to be open to enjoying myself here. Instead of getting the disappointing veggie meal, I just decided on getting the lobster, handing it off to a fellow diner at the table, and going full on crazy at the all-you-can-eat salad bar. Er… salad boat, that is(see pics). Yep. From fresh veggies and sauces to mix and match to your heart’s content, to nine(all meat-free) pasta, potato, and other specialty salads, I managed to get my fill on the homecooked dishes that this place is known for rather than expecting vegetarian magic in the main course. And when I say ‘homecooked’, I mean it: We arrived early(4pm) to see a lady from the community driving up in her regular vehicle to deliver several rubbermaid containers of fresh-baked rolls; the freshly boiled mussels(also all-you-can-eat), we were told, were plucked out of the ocean mere hours earlier; and the lobsters were being boiled outside in a typical east coast fashion! The perfect balance of authentic maritime style without unnecessary kitsch! Pro tips: — There’s a killer check-in offer(at the time of writing this review) from 4−5pm that will save you about $ 10 on a lobster meal. — There’s a full list of 20 great Nova Scotian wines(both red and white) all available for just $ 20/bottle.

Rich in friendly service — and the dinner — Lobster or the steak was delish! A must for anyone traveling though the area. I have yet to go as a night out — but I’m sure it’s a great place to meet up in the summer– popular!

Because I have a lot of friends in the Tantallon, Timberlea area, the Shore Club seems like a big high school reunion! It’s never a dull moment there and what happens there, stay’s there! Well… most people who go there are far to drunk to remember! The best time of year to hit the SC is on Halloween. They really invest a lot of time and money into that time of year. Everyone has great costumes and it’s packed each and every year! The staff are quite friendly there and I find it to be a clean atmosphere. They usually have a band playing every weekend during the summer. It’s an incredibly fun place to go if you’re looking to spice up your Saturday night!

Located next to Hubbards Beach, the Shore Club is a great place to spend a Saturday night. The Club has live entertainment every week from April to October, playing all the favorite cover songs. The Club always draws a fun and lively crowd and the dance floor is always moving. Halloween is a huge place for the Shore Club where people come in costumes and dance all night long. It’s definitely something worth checking out.
