Like most of the reviewer’s we didn’t set out to find a local gem but that is exactly what we came across! On the way to Whistler, admiring the views, we stopped for lunch and found the most charming, friendly and delicious place to get sandwiches and soup, with a great view to boot! Got an extra order of the Thai chicken soup to go! Don’t miss!

Husband and I saw that they had wifi so we came here to work for a bit. Coffee was ok and the wifi wouldn’t work. Asked them to reset the router but I don’t think they did even though they said they would. Instead of getting lunch and staying a while, we had to leave since we needed wifi to work. Beautiful views though!

Stopped in this little store totally by accident while looking for a «washroom”(quaint Canadian term) on our way up to Whistler. We had tried to stop a mile south but were thwarted by some kind of rude security person who acted like the place belonged to him… didn’t realize that Canada had such people to drive away tourists in an area that depends on them even if it happens to be where movies are made. Anyways this little store was an oasis. We bought food, used the«washroom”(very much in need of repair) and were on our way.

Stopped here after hiking up the Lions — 5 thirsty/hungry hikers needing re-fuelling. We arrived a few minutes after posted closing time but the owner let us in and didn’t try to rush us out. Loved the map collection on sale and they also sell hiking poles! Great idea! We were still enjoying food/drink on the patio looking out at the view when the owner locked up, and deposited a bunch of Ghirardelli mini chocolate bars at our table — what an unexpected treat received most graciously. I will definitely make this a regular stop whilst in Lions Bay.

Stopped for a bite and a well-deserved rest after cycling out from downtown Vancouver. Definitely did not anticipate the massive hill up to the café after the exit, don’t think they had cyclists in mind! The food was a bit of a wait but they did warn us it would take 15 min. The cinnamon bun was nothing to write home about(and believe me, I was ravenous so would have thought anything would taste good) but the hot reuben sandwich was pretty tasty with the horseradish. They could have piled on more smoked meat though. Would visit more if I could get to it on my bike with less effort and if the food didn’t take so long to come out.

There isn’t much in this area but this general store will provide you with the basic necessities with a quaint view of the bay. Stop by and you will remember how it was to live in a small community.

Beautiful view of Howe sound(4 stars) Sandwiches on par with what your childhood friend’s mother made when she wasn’t expecting company yet had to feed you(2 stars) Average: 3 stars. Return? Maybe park in the lot and look at the view, and then move on up the road to eat someplace else!
