I have been going to Bertoldi’s consistently since I was still in university. It is my favourite Italian restaurant in London. It is a bit pricier but the food is always consistently delicious. I usually order the roasted chicken and pancetta pasta dish. Tonight I noticed the pieces of pancetta were larger than normal in my dish but it also tasted different. I always finish off with tiramisu for dessert and it is to die for.

Horrible service and mediocre food. After a 45 minute wait, our appetizers were served at the same time as our main courses. We then asked to have our main courses served after we were done with our appetizers. When we received them the second time, the pasta was cold and barely had any sauce. We were very disappointed in our experience to say the least, and will not return!

I came here a few hours ago and service was absolutely deplorable. My friend and I got takeout so we waited behind the bar. I’m not sure if the lady working there always provides less than sub par customer service or just really hates her job, but it is in no way what I would call«customer service.» She did not smile once the whole time we were there and we waited for 20 mins. She also didn’t tell us how long our food would take, did not offer us water(hey, Moxie’s down the street does!), nor did she seem friendly. Pretty much she acted like she was too busy to serve us and made us feel unwelcome in the restaurant. Hopefully she just stays behind the bar and doesn’t actually serve people. However, the ambiance of the restaurant is great and I love the interior so an extra half a star for that. Another half a star for the taste of my food. My gnocchi was pretty good, so I can’t complain. My friend and I thought the portion size was too small, especially in the big takeout box but surprisingly, it was very filling. Or perhaps, it was because I went to Chil for frozen yogurt before eating this and also ate 3 pieces of the bread our meals came with. Probably the latter. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, their awful customer service just ruined it. If they can’t have competent service for takeout orders, then I can’t see how a dining experience would be any better. Oh well. Good thing there’s other restaurants within walking distance.

We discovered this wonderful Italian place when walking and looking for an evening meal in the area. Our waitress was fantastic and the food absolutely delicious — I had the salmon entrée YUM and spouse had spaghetti and meatballs, which he also enjoyed. A type of warm flatbread served warned with oil for dipping and a great wine and drink selection. I ended my meal with a «Nutty Italian» coffee that was perfect! Would go here again if ever in the area!

Extremely insulting owner. Parked my car and about to walk in to the front door. This funny guy showed up rudely accusing me of parking in his lot, and will be giving me a ticket if I don’t leave. Okay, I just got out of my car, walking towards your front door. Yes, there is a popular Japanese restaurant nearby and I am an Asian, but either this guy is racist or just plain ridiculous. Good for your neighbour’s business either way. Parked elsewhere immediately without arguing and walked in, greeted by a waitress unapologetically. Yes for sure sir, I will leave, thank you. And I will make sure people I know and care won’t come either.

Consistently good food and well priced. I would rate it at 4.5 as we have had the odd miscue but they have always made sure we were satisfied before we left. The menu is very stable with traditional favourites and they do have theme menus from season to season. The food has always been fresh, well portioned and well priced as I have said above. They handle large groups well and their longevity has a lot to do with the service. Bob D. makes sure you have a great experience and his food is an homage to his roots. It is probably our most re visited spot in London.

From top left going clockwise: Seafood Crespelle, Salmon Salad, Insalata Bertoldi & Tomato Prosciutto Soup of the Day. The patio was fantastic, it was so beautiful in the summer and secluded it didn’t even feel like you were still in London. A great atmosphere for a family dinner or even a date night out. The service was friendly and prompt without being overly invasive and our server was very knowledgeable. The food was reasonably priced for a good flavourful quality meal, will definitely be going back.

Never will I ever go to this horrible restaurant. It reminded me of an «upscale» chain restaurant. My «gnocchi» was just frozen and heated up with what tasted like a canned tomato sauce. It was overpriced with gross inauthentic food, a truly awful birthday dinner that we didn’t even ask for dessert. Anyone who likes eating Canadian inspired Italian food, save 50 bucks and go buy a michalina’s.

We came here recently(group of 4) to celebrate the end of another work week. Service: 5⁄5 Attentive servers who are easy-going and good humoured. Everything was timely, and servers were always on hand for more bread or water(we never had to ask, they were always attentively watching). As good as it gets! Food: 4⁄5 I ordered a kale salad with buttermilk dressing and roasted almonds to start, and a chicken pizza as the main. The kale salad was quite tasty, though the kale did seem a bit overly dry. The roasted almonds and buttermilk sauce were perfect though. The chicken pizza was simply excellent. The crust tastes like olive oil bread, and is perfectly crisp without being crunchy. The pizza itself tasted amazing — perfect blend of chicken and cheese and a sauce that I can’t quite describe. And of course, a review of the food could not be complete without mentioning their free bread — one of the better free breads that I have sampled. It is salty but not overly so, warmed just enough that it has a light taste, and very soft. Their olive oil dipping sauce for the bread is excellent too, though a tad too sour for my taste. Overall, very satisfied with the food. Environment: 4⁄5 Very nice place, clearly classy. Fancy. Price: 5⁄5 Given the quality and quantity of the food, I am VERY happy with the price. Case in point — the salad was much larger than I expected, and priced very reasonably. The pizza was too much for me — i had to take some home. In conclusion, this restaurant is excellent, and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Eaten here over a dozen times and just love it! Have never had a bad dish and the oil/vinegar and bread appetizer is delicious! We frequent here for special occasions and just to grab a bite out. Kid friendly food as well. We will continue to dine here!

The salmon special was ok. The bed of pasta I certainly favor my own. The service was adequate. The cheese cake was dull. I’m just not feeling it sorry. I will come back but it will be I little while.

Service is attentive without being cheeky or presumptuous. Able to provide good recommendations when asked WITH reasons; not just a «I like this one best…» Beer list is lacking. Wine list is more than adequate. Everything in the wines is arranged from light to bolder fare — making pairing choices easy. The cab cakes are great. Excellent flavour, but giving up some of the star value to the paired apple coleslaw. The goat cheese bruschetta was good as well. From the fired pizza oven it had a fantastic sauce, but a bit too heavy on the arugula. Lasagna as the main was good. Meat sauce could use some extra seasoning as it was a bit bland, but the cheeses were brilliant. The chicken pancetta was also great. Full of pepper and tomatoes, the chicken was well done and balanced will with the standard sauce. Portion size was huge. Both well worth an order. Cheesecake is meh. Tiramisu is awesome. A little different in presentation, but flavour faithful to the original. Really well done. As a point of note, all deserts(except gelato) are made in-house.

Came here earlier this week with friends for the second time. We ordered 3 seafood manicottis and one other dish. I enjoyed the seafood manicotti last I was here so I suggested my friends order the same. To my great surprise the dish didn’t even remotely resemble what I had ordered previously! There was hardly any seafood filling and plenty of cheese sauce to mask the overcooked manicotti. We were disappointed and I felt horrible for having suggested the dish. In addition the bread was cold and stale. $ 89.00 later and 3 unhappy customers. :(hey at least our server was awesome!

We’ve been to Bertoldi’s at least twenty times. It’s in the middle of Richmond Row, so it’s a convenient choice. If it were located elsewhere, I’m not sure that we would visit as often due to the inconsistency of the food. In the summer they have a great second-story patio with cool misters. There is a private parking lot, but it fills up quickly, so you may need to avail yourself of the ample street parking in the surrounding area. They don’t take reservations for parties of less than eight, but they do have call-ahead service, which can speed up the process of getting a table. There is also a full menu at the bar. There is a private room for larger parties. The bathroom(the women’s, at least) has Cucina Collection amenities by Fruits and Passion. The menu is a good size — sufficient variety, but not so huge that you are left wondering how they could produce anything well. The focaccia is usually quite good, but sometimes it misses the mark by being too dry. They used to bring out a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of balsamico to go with, but now they only bring a small dish, which is insufficient for the amount of focaccia in the basket, so you have to flag down the server for more. There is a $ 2 fee for the mains that they are willing to split. The risotto offering changes daily. The grilled calamari salad is a good size for the money($ 12) but it is sometimes overcooked. The lasagna al forno is more consistently good. The chicken parm($ 18) is nothing original, but it’s fine. Portions are commensurate with prices. The wine list is quite large, with loads of variety to please all tastes. Most of the 6 oz. pours for the whites hover around $ 10, with the 9 oz. coming in at $ 14. Most reds are $ 11/$ 14. I don’t remember any significant problems with service. It can sometimes be a bit slow, but not outrageously so.

Really nice ambience and service has always been excellent! I always find their food hearty and delicious. It’s a nice restaurant with solid Italian food. The only big miss for this restaurant is that they don’t offer calamari as an appetizer — a big surprise as that is usually a popular dish, the closest thing they have is the calamari salad(which is an entrée with a few pieces of calamari on top of a bed of salad). Would recommend going to this restaurant on a romantic date!

Bertoldi’s was pretty busy when we dropped in on a Saturday night. We didn’t have reservations but were seated right away. Loved the fresh focaccia bread! I found the service to be a bit slow, it took 2 hours from start to end and we definitely were waiting on our server at times. The portion size is very generous. I had the ravioli and they were huge! It was pretty good. The atmosphere was rather dark, and loud but didn’t seem to bother most people. I would recommend this a a place to go with friends or larger groups, not a romantic dinner type place.

I’ve eaten here almost a dozen times in three years. I’ve never had A bad meal ever. Service is quick and the portion size is just right. Lovely ambiance and I like that the wait staff wear crisp white shirts and dark jeans. A great spot for a date or take your parents to celebrate their anniversary etc. Have not tried the house made desserts though.

Bertoldi’s always feels pretentious to me and it’s hard to relax and enjoy myself. Get over yourselves — this is London Ontario! If I’m interested in Italian food I’d rather dine at nearby Fellini Koolini’s because the seafood there is not overcooked and the ambiance is more intimate and fun. I think the menu here is overpriced and the portions are okay but none of the entrees really stand out for me. I thought maybe the seafood was their weak spot but when I tried the chicken it was dried out as well. Things are generally better to look at than to actually eat here, but at least the bathrooms are clean. Parking is limited.

been here to eat a dozen or more times. 90% of the time my meal was excellent. Sometimes when they are busy they can overcook your food. The muscles are great. The veal can be excellent as long as its not overcooked. The Cappuccino crème brule is top notch. i love crème brule and they make a great one. Although I don’t know if it is still on the menu. Sadly it was taken off for a while and may or may not have been put back on.

Very nice restaurant. We had the pleasure of sitting on the rooftop patio and it was PERFECT. The weather was nice, so it was definitely a great idea. The prices were very reasonable, and the food was above average. I very much enjoyed the bruschetta with the goat cheese and arugula. The fish stew and the veal ossobucco was okay, but huge portions! We capped it off with the Tiramisu cake and some grappa. Heavenly! Another thing that deserves mention is that our waitress was incredibly friendly, personable and helpful. If I’m back in the London area, I will go again!
