The winter hours are clearly indicated that they would open at 11am on Thursdays. Today(Thursday) my husband and I decided to take a trip down to Lunenburg and I made him stop in Mahone Bay on the way, as I’ve been wanting to check this store out for a while. We show up promptly at 11am. Door is locked. Nobody around. We walk around a little and come back at 11:15am. Door locked and still no one. We drove around and came back at noon and hurrah! the Tea Brewery was open. I liked a lot of the selections and also really liked their«twoonie» tea packets. What a great way to try new teas. When I was ready to pay for my items, I asked if they had a particular flavour in a smaller format because the only one available was quite large. The answer I got was«no». Then I asked if they carried Marshmallow tea. Again just a «no» as she was ringing in my items. I could not be more deflated about my hopes and expectations of this place. How a business that caters to such a specific market can have such crappy service and still manage to stick around is beyond me. I’ve worked in the service industry for years so I know that a little personality goes a long way. It’s also not really that much to ask. This woman and her complete lack of personality, amiability, product knowledge and let’s not forget punctuality has ruined this place for me. I will definitely NOT be going back. After everything I went through just to get into the place, I think I’ll stick to going downtown.

When I was in here, I was here during the Christmas festival. The inside of the store is clean, a little cramped, but the décor is lovely. The photo for the inside of this place is not what it is now. The store has so many shelves lined with lovely teas, I should have taken a few photos to update! The store has a lovely fruity/flowery smell that can warm even the coldest heart. The shelves are lined with many different teas and samples. I had the chocolate chai latte – and yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. Service was a little slow and they seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of customers during the festival, but they were very polite. If you’re in the neighborhood and like tea, definitely check these guys out!

Tea Drinkers will love the selections this has to offer, The Tea Brewery is located in Mahone Bay, the beautiful picturesque town along the south shore. They also have locations at the farmers market and pier 21. They carry a nice variety, I tried the Bumble-berry pie, it tasted great. I like the cinnamon ones as well. A great little store here.

Hot Dang– now we’re talking. This tea junkie has no complaints with The Tea Brewery refined bounty. I’ve taken leverage over a handful of flavors the Brewery has to offer, and have most often come away refreshed and ready to re-indulge. The tea is blended and packaged in Canada, and sought from locations around the world. Folks can find this stuff at the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market, as well as Pier 22 on Marginal Road. There is a huge spectrum of flavours to choose from, and there is always something new. My personal favourites are the Mango Mahem Rooibos and the Ginger Snap Rooibos. But there are so many others I’d love to try! Prices are a bit higher than what I’d prefer… but sometimes its just good to treat yourself. Yummy flavours and pretty packaging. Tea lovers can find solice in its ample opportunity. I know I do. Refill, please.

The Tea Brewery also has a stall deep within the recesses of the Saturday morning Farmers Market, which is located in the Brewery Marketplace. This tea, despite being loose, manages to taste sort of stale and packaged. Perhaps I continually tried the wrong blends. One exception to this rule is the Bella Coola, which I wasn’t even able to find the last time I was in Mahone Bay. Interesting varieties like: Highland Chai Mix and Bumbleberry pie, just don’t expect a ton of freshness out of this tea. There are better places in Halifax if fresh tea is your bent: Try ‘Trident Café’ or ‘Sawadee Tea House’. I do like that ‘The Tea Brewery’ offers samples at their marketplace location.
