I was first introduced to the amazing baked wares of the LaHave Bakery many, many years ago when I had a sandwich at the River Pub in Bridgewater that was made with their Herb & Cheese Buns. It was love at first bite. A number of their breads are actually available in the HRM in the health food section of the major grocery chains which is great for those of us who love their breads but can’t always justify a road trip to get them. If you’re on a road trip along the beautiful LaHave River drop by their little café and bakery and spend a few minutes talking to the friendly shop keepers. In addition to their breads and buns they also offer sandwiches and sweet treats like biscotti and oatcakes(yum!) and various coffees. On Fridays and Saturdays during the summer they also have a canteen available with hamburgers, etc.

Well… I have to say this little gem of a place in Mahone Bay has the BEST scones I have ever had!!! I’m not a scone expert in the traditional sense, but the«Blueberry butter scone» I had was absolutely delectable! Moist, fluffy and coated with a sugary glaze… OHMY! This little bakery is attached to a store right in the centre of Mahone bay. They have some great coffee, baked goods, breads and other local treats. If you’re looking for a quick and easy snack or simply a great cup of coffee, pop in and check it out on your next visit to Mahone Bay! Well worth the stop :)
