Got the spinach salad which was very good perfect amount of delicious sesame sauce also got the seaweed salad which wasn’t so delicious it was soggy not very fresh followed by the smoked salmon cream cheese roll which I also had higher expectations for mediocre at best asked the server if they offered brown rice sub but they didn’t she said they had black rice but couldn’t tell me if the nutritional value was better than white rice I have never heard of black rice before so was not sure about it

Nice selection on the menu. Price is good, tasty too. Would come back if I didn’t live in a different city.

I have been to Sushi Tengu several times. The food has been consistently good. Miso soup. tamago, tempura veggie roll nigiri all good. I will go back again the next time I am in Maple Ridge.

I had the worst sushi I ever had from here. I don’t know if I got a one-off batch or something, judging from the other glowing reviews but my sushi was bad. Now I have had sushi from many places before, sushi restaurants around Maple Ridge, BC, ON, store bought sushi from T&T, Superstore, Safeway, even sushi in Japan(both from combini and also from a sushi restaurant). I’m no sushi snob or connoisseur, so I evaluate sushi accordingly if it has been made fresh in restaurants, or kept in the cooler for awhile at T&T. I purchased the spicy roll combo to go. The rice was dry and hard. The fish was mushy. The rolls tasted like day old sushi. Even store bought sushi from Safeway tasted better(and those are mushy). I couldn’t even finish my food. I don’t think I’ll ever buy sushi from here again.

Best sushi, tempura, service of any Japanese restaurant in Maple Ridge(or the tri-cities for that matter) by a long shot. This place is a treasure!

This has become our go-to sushi in Maple Ridge. The nigiri is always fresh tasting and is more fish than rice, unusual these days. Specialty rolls are nicely presented and not so large they fall apart when you try to eat them. The 4-in-1 is a good sampler for rolls if you are undecided. My husband loves the miso soup and they offer you a free refill. Tempura is light and not greasy. Doesn’t serve teriyaki on the sizzling hot cast iron dishes, but no one’s perfect. Also, one of the few places I can get cold sake locally.

Very happy with my hangry, spur of the moment decision to try out this relatively new to Maple Ridge sushi joint! everything was very fresh, priced well, with good sized portions. Got the teenager the Chicken Teriyaki Combo($ 11) and was pleasantly surprised to find you got to choose between edamame & veg sunimono and miso soup & udon soup! Very cool! Topped his order off with an extra Cali roll & dynamite roll. I got the Tuna Tataki Roll($ 8.50& totally worth it!), a negitoro roll and two pieces of salmon nigiri. Everything was presented beautifully & dressed up with cute little fancy carrot slices and strawberry slices. Oh and I stole some tempura from the kid and it was redonk tasty & crunchy, even after 10 mins in the car. Will definitely go again!
