Advance Optical

I’ve purchased prescription glasses here several times but not in years. I came in this time to have a look at the OGA brand selection and unfortunately they didn’t have any this time.
Most of their frames were for women so I wasn’t able to really get anything here and only tried on a few frames but nothing really to my liking this time around.
The selection for men’s frames is too nominal so it’s hard when there’s not much to choose from.

I’m mixed about this place. YES, they offer many styles of frames and prices are competitive. YES, they’re patient/​helpful in terms of helping you select a frame.
Note: NEVER go by the tag price as it’ll always be lowered by a significant amount!
However, where Advance Optical goes a bit haywire is with their customer service via phone. If someone even picks it up. If you’re calling on the weekend, good luck!
Anyway, I had issues with contact lenses that I purchased from here. They were a new brand that I’ve never used, extremely dry, and the prescription itself was wrong! (I contacted an optometrist friend to ask if this was an issue and she advised me that retail stores can always take back unopened pairs of contacts.) Since I couldn’t reach them by phone, I just dropped by when I was in the area.
The young girl I spoke to checked my prescription and realised both pairs were waaay off. She gave me another sample pair to try, in the right prescription.
I just tried calling the Pac Mall location now to order new contacts. The man who picked up told me to call back to speak to the «young girl». He seemed a bit dismissive ’cause I’m sure he could’ve easily handled my order. He wasn’t rude per se, but he was almost yelling into the phone, loudly in a Canto accent. Hopefully, he was just trying to talk over the noise, but I had to hold the receiver away from my ear.
Again, absolutely efficient service in-​person. Otherwise, you’re sorta screwed.
Note: Other Advance Optical locations are NOT connected. When I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at Pac Mall, I tried the Mississauga, and they said that I’d hafta speak to someone at the location that took my order.
