I had a delicious meal of grilled veggie pizza with the chocolate soufflé for dessert. The place looks great and all of the food appears mouthwateringly amazing! But what sealed the deal for me was the chap who helped my friends and I decide what to eat. He was very friendly and informative and spoke five languages. Plus, he lived at the Jersey Shore during summers in his youth and he was very funny. So charming. When you’ve got a great salesman like that on top of really, really good food, you can’t miss. Totally exceeded my expectations for a food court type of restaurant.

Good pastry selection. Good coffee. Nice place to sit and watch the fountain and the people walking around the mall. We got the pain au chocolat and a fruit tart, both delicious.

Located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, this modern little place offers a wide variety of options for lunch. We got one of their delicious turkey cranberry salads as well as a chicken tortillas and some Danish pastries. The portions were big and the food was fresh and well seasoned. Overall it was an enjoyable experience although it was on the pricey side.

Allez ailleurs !

Look, there’s no doubt that this place is beautiful. The food is good, I work right next door, so I went over to try out a soup. It was delisious, fresh, & pretty big. But I can’t help but feel out of place when I go there, like I am not snooty enough and that the prices are a little steep. I much rather visit across the street to Anton & James.

I’ll tell you what, the food here is pretty damn delicious. Located in the Complexe Desjardins, this little place is right on your way from the Hyatt Regency to the Palais des congrès de Montréal, so stop by for a meal if you’re stuck in the RÉSO on a rainy day. I can vouch for the oven baked egg white omelet with wild mushrooms and goat cheese, the vine ripe cherry tomatoes and barrel feta salad, and the grilled and roasted red peppers and ricotta sandwich. There are a ton of vegetarian options here(yessss!) and for those conscientious omnivores, it appears that much of the chicken they use here is organic. The coffee here is also awesome. I’ve had just your standard coffee, as well as the macciato. YUM to both. As well as the fresh-squeezed orange juice. The staff are super nice, and I often find myself giddy and giggling around some of the guys who work here. Very clean and modern appearance. The place does get pretty packed, particularly when there are multiple conferences going on at the Palais des congrès(this being, like I said, the underground mid-point between the Hyatt Regency and the convention center).

Located inside the Complexe Desjardins, MBCo(Montréal Bread Company) is a Canadian chain of boulangeries. The menu is one typical of French cafes, centered mainly around coffee, pastries, sandwiches and eggs. Beers(i.e. Coronas) and other alcoholic beverages are also available at this location. Seeing that I didn’t want to pay the Hyatt hotel another $ 22 a head for a lukewarm buffet, my boyfriend and I wandered here one Sunday morning. I ordered a Portabello mushroom sandwich, stuffed with chevre, spinach and braised leeks($ 7.99), trying hard not to lick up the garlic-infused mayonnaise on the side. I was so enamored with my sandwich, I totally forgot to try my boyfriend’s breakfast(muesli and yogurt, meh)! Even though the sandwich was sufficient for breakfast, my eyes had landed on the fruit tarts near the cash machine as we were paying for our meal. I couldn’t resist and am glad that I had one! It was perfect in every way — delicate, sweet and fresh. The only regret that I have is not ordered a dozen to take back home with us. Sigh. Just being in Montréal is a constant reminder of our inadequate our bakeries are in Toronto. Will someone please open up an MBCo. in Ontario?! CORRECTION: There are two MBCos in Toronto!
