This place deserves 5 stars just for its great service. The food is great and the restaurant is funky, but I can’t get over how great the guy at the counter was — welcoming us there for the first time and explaining the best menu items. Prices for«grilled cheese» are on the high side, but like the wall says, it really is more than just cheese and bread!

a grilled cheese joint(from ontario) in le plateau a short walk from the metro station. you can’t miss it with its big window and cheap happy hours beer. i was first intrigued by the place but only went when the metro stopped for whatever reason like it always do during rush hour so might as well go grab a little snack i said. when i went, they just opened so it was dead empty. ratio staff to customer was heavily in favor of the staff. as i was looking at the menu(there’s shit load of choices), i wasn’t too sure about what to get so the waitress suggested the popular items of mlt dwn(read as melted down) and i settled for the mac n cheese grilled cheese figuring who doesn’t love mac n cheese? and not only any kind of mac n cheese but the kraft dinner one. kraft dinner was my meal as a kid! i was overly excited. alas, this was pretty much the extend of my excitement. the kraft dinner grilled cheese was anything but kraft dinner. at least, to me. growing up with the famous crazily addictive kraft dinner. that orange-ish powered cheese that had a very prominent sweetness to it making you addicted to that thing. the taste is iconic, you’ll be able to recognize it still today but no, the grilled cheese had nothing of sort. it was just bland mac n cheese. not only was it bland, it didn’t had the iconic orange hue to it. that’s when i remembered they actually changed the kraft dinner recipe a couple years back. for some this might be kraft dinner or should i say KD but to me, this is highly disappointing. don’t sell me on the kraft dinner considering that i grew up with the original shit. on top of the grilled cheese, i chose to add some bacon with it because bacon. frankly, it added nothing but a crunchiness to it. talk about throwing $ 2 away. with it, you had some pickle. i should say, a third of a fucking pickle! not even half, a third. that pickle was the best thing about the whole thing as it was the only element that had any flavor whatsoever. the only component that awaken your buds. so in summary, a KD grilled cheese with optional bacon will cost you almost $ 10(after tax, not including tips) and you get a third of a fucking pickle. in short, not fucking worth it! not at that price as you can make far superior grilled cheeses at home for about the same price

I was walking on mont-royal looking for some casual food. I was attracted by the big couches we could see from the window. I looked at the menu. Overpriced grilled cheese. Nevertheless, the poster says it was worth the price. My adventurous food habits push me to try it. Nice concept. You make your own grilled cheese or select a pre-made. The staff recommended me the«Beef brisket» which was a popular choice. You order, pay, sit and they bring you the food. :D I was amazed by the homemade ketchup(normal, spicy and pepper). THEWAFFLEFRIESOMGOMOGMOMG. must try. It’s like something we used to know, but enhanced to a next level. For the grilled cheese, it was tasty, crispy and the sauce made a huge difference. It fills you up if you are not starving. The fountain drink is too«fast-food» style. I’d prefer a homemade drink. They serve beer which is a great idea. I was confused whether I should wait for the waiter to pick up my tray or give it back. There was no «specified» place to give back the tray. Free wifi which was great. It may seem pricey for the meal(10 – 15 $) for trio. Nevertheless, like I said, it’s similar to what we are used to from fast-food, but quality is enhanced. Mix between fast-food and normal restaurant service. Overall, good experience. Many possible combinations to try. Recommend for lunch/afternoon meal.
