Santé Eco Loco

Really into this place!
On a trip to MTL from TO, my vegan Bio-​K yogurts were spoiled due to a faulty hotel fridge. After making about 15 phone calls to health food stores in Montréal, I find that this place actually has them! I ask them to put it on hold for me and they do! Yay!
I had been on this strip before due to Crudessence and Panthere Vert, both of which I really enjoy, so I was happy to see a veggie food store in the same area. Definitely a good idea, and I hope they get a lot of business from customers frequenting those restaurants.
No fresh produce, but a very tempting selection of pre-​prepared fresh meals. I had to stop myself from buying some of the salads in jars… maybe I’ll stop by again before my trip is over and grab one because they looked YUM. Also nice selection of gourmet vegan cheeses and sausages that I had never seen before. I was surprised to see a veg shop w/​no hummus or salsa mixes, but maybe that’s just not as popular to vegans and veg types in Montréal? I dunno!
Impressive selection of natural supplements — lots of Metagenics products, especially, I found notable, and easy to find what you’re looking for. Taking note if I’m ever in town without supplements, or if I run out on this trip!
Otherwise — minimal but predictably strong selection of health-​food/​organic go-to’s — vegan crackers, pastas, chips, and other dry products. I liked that they had some fresh baked goods available!
Also good selection of natural body products — I picked up a new deodorant I’d never seen before, and liked their selection of lotions and other bath/​body stuff. Some of the stuff is on a ridiculous price range (ie, above my poor student one, lol). Actually, that was another pleasant surprise about this place! They gave a student discount which dropped my bill about $ 10. YAY! I’ll definitely be back.

One of my favorite things to do when I’m Downtown is to wander into EcoLoco to see what new healthy treats and treasures await me. The team there is out of this world helpful and the entire vibe is just «feel-​good.»

This newly opened natural food and supplement shop on MacKay street, or what I have affectionately come to call «Vegan Alley», is a welcome addition to the already great selection of Vegetarian food resources.
Besides their massive variety of natural supplements complete with staff to help you navigate those waters, then have a lovely boutique style food shop crying a limited selection of natural and vegetarian food-​stuffs. This includes, dry goods, snacks and chocolate treats, AuxVivres sandwiches and dressings as well as fresh and frozen sections (no produce).
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, alway ready to help you find what your looking for and offer samples of products you may not have had the opportunity to try, such as vegan «cheese» style spreads or, my new Cesar Salad staple, Coconut «bacon». Prices are as expected for a boutique style food shop.
*Point to note: although their shop has been open several months now, their website is still yet to come!
