U2 in Montreal – Innocence & Experience Night 2

I decided to have a nap before the show so that I could be 100%. Super thanks to the guy I am dating for waking me up for the show even though by the time I got my shit together I missed the first 4 — 5 songs. U2 also started 15 minutes early. It took him two tries to wake me up (I sleep like a log).
Sound was still echoey, however, all the venue sound kinks by from the soundboard the day before were worked out.
The real curveball that no one saw coming was Lucifer’s Hand. It’s the B-​side of the bonus disk of the new album. It’s a song that has a lot of potential, however, wasn’t executed great. It was rough around the edges, however, they had the balls to do. As a song it’s okay. It doesn’t wow me but the thrill was more seeing U2 take a chance on it. The Edge seemed lost playing it. There are 4 different parts plus Bono singing, therefore, as a first timer with no rehearsal it was bound to fall at the seams somewhere. At least it wasn’t Fast Cars.
They did a cool run by added snippets of Moment of Surrender During Beautiful Day and Bad. The run actually worked better than I had thought that it would.
90% of the audience ended up singing One. Bono just let Montréal take it away. It’s a very sociable party city. Everyone was having a good time. We didn’t care that we took over the vocal part of the show. It was one of the best sing alongs that I have heard to date on this tour.
I didn’t spend the show thinking of Bono’s voice which is a good thing. I was in the mind frame to just enjoy the show.
Bono seemed a little more connected compared to other shows in which he seems to drag a concrete ball.
Bullet the Blue Sky Rant was different. The singer from Arcade Fire learned to be humble for Bono.
During Angel of Harlem when they pulled someone in the audience to record through an Iphone the song on the b-​stage Bono made the following funny comments, «Beware of Larry he bites. Beware of Adam he might take you home with him and here’s The Edge.»
Overall it was a better show than Night 1.
P. S. Larry Mullen Jr. came out in the day before the show and was all smiles. Handshakes only, no autographs. Second time Larry has come out to meet fans. Didn’t do it during Elevation, Vertigo and or 360. When U2 rehearsed in Vancouver on the last tour I got Bono 3 times to the point where I just gave something to Bono and asked if he could get Larry to sign it for me. Bono meet me the following day at the same time and spot. It would’ve been nice to have gotten an in person signature of something. Beggars can’t be choosers. It was still nice enough for Larry to meet fans. Pictures are flooding my Facebook right now of this :)
