This place was a total surprise, what is it doing in Nanaimo? They make their own salsa with roasted peppers, which is not that common in the B.C. Mexican world, and their tortilla chips are made in house from whole tortillas. In fact, if you only had their chips and salsa you would still leave happy. Everything is so fresh, their guacamole is excellent and they even have vegan cheese! Oh and they use real lime juice and agave syrup in their Margaritas. Highly recommended for a great night out.

Decent… I’m traditional when it comes to my Mexican food as this is Native to me. Arizona Mexi here… the price is crazy though… these dishes are cheap and simple to make at home. 1. Why oil a tortilla before warming? Dip it in light tobascco water then grill until warm instead! 2. Carnitas are not served«In» the tortilla but instead on the side… with lettuce…

Love it. Best burritos on the Island. Staff is helpful and friendly. So good you can’t go just once. :)

Went in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Very busy, with friendly staff and fast service. Food was pretty good, and reasonably priced.

The food here is great and the waitress was friendly. I love the little tacos(the vampiro is my favourite), the tamales were also tasty. So if you feel like Mexican food, this is a good place.

The best, and I mean the best, Mexican on the Island! I have no idea why the reviews are so poor here when this is honestly our favorite restaurant in town. Homemade salsa, fresh authentic dishes and fabulous service. It has every other«Mexican» restaurant beat for pricing and for flavor in Nanaimo. I know several out-of-town people who make the trek just to eat at Baby Salsa, and it’s well worth it. The street tacos here are fantastic, as are the chili rellanos… and the fresh margaritas of course! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

the servers bring you a bowl of chips and salsa. saw the server take my uneaten leftover chips and put them back into the warmer to be served again to the next tables. unsanitary, against foodsafe, and against the law. disgusting. nope nope nope. never been back and never will go back. Plus their servers and owners have been rude several times and their food is kind of shitty. so you’re not missing anything from avoiding this place, except maybe getting herpes from chips fondled by many customers. haha.

Food was ok but the experience felt very cramped and tight for a table or four. The food came pretty quick however it didn’t really leave an authentic Mexican restaurant vibe on our table. Seems like a sit down variation of Taco Bell or Taco Time. We had some drinks and food for the table but found the over all price quite expensive. I am fairly confident that we could have ate two fairly nice meals for the price of baby salsa considering this left quite a bit to be desired. The staff who served was friendly and did a great job. I would suggest being a little more strict on the cook being able to visibly go from the kitchen to outside for smoke breaks. It’s a bit concerning considering he just or is about to make food

Probably one of the better Mexican places I’ve been to in Nanaimo. Me and my wife are regular customers of this establishment, and will continue to be.

Simply the Best Mexican in Nanaimo! Mexican food is not Tex-Mex and Baby Salsa makes real mexican eats and makes them great. We had the Street Tacos and Tamales. The Tacos were exceptional, not the best I have had but they did taste like my friend’s grams made them at home and that warmed my heart and my belly. The Tamales were the best I have had in BC hands down! The service was great and even when my friend left an article of clothing in the resto the waiter chased down our moving car to return it. In Nanaimo? Craving Mexican? Then Go no run to Baby salsa. Note: No babies are used in their salsa.

This was our second time eating there. First time was pretty good, this time however not so much. The food was decent but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress was more concerned with hiding behind the counter texting on her phone that looking after her tables. I will likely not return.

Gourmet Mexican food with fresh ingredients, an amazing eating experience. The dishing are created using freshest ingredients. The chef makes every thing from scratch the salsa, marinades, corn tortillas and Tamales. After ordering a few things from the menu it was so good we ordered more. An authentic truly enjoyable dining experience.

We were surprised to find Baby Salsa nestled in Harewood in the corner of the mall parking lot. Upon purusing the menu we were even more surprised that they actually offer a lot of dietary options for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, carnivores, and of course for those on the ever popular gluten free diet. The food itself was fairly standard as far as Mexican/Tex Mex goes. They have queso which is as Tex Mex as it gets. They also have some fairly authentic Mexican dishes like tortilla soup and mole. Most of the mains come with the same re-fried beans and Mexican rice so keep this in mind if you want to order family style/sharsies. The server was very nice and the meal came quickly. The biggest bonus for us was that they allow you to bring in your own bottle of wine and they charge a nominal corking fee. They also serve alcohol. Really very civilized.

This is a great little Mexican place in Harewood. I’ve been there for lunch and dinner, and had a great meal both times. The service is good, the atmosphere nice, it’s never been too loud or crowded, there’s an outdoor patio for the summer, the staff is friendly and willing to talk about the food, they sell their salsa verde and chips, and I think I’m babbling now. To sum up, delicious!
