Calico Cat Tea House

Interesting experience. I got feedback about something I really already felt was true, my reader confirmed it. It was my first time ever getting a tea reading — I’d probably not go back to this location though.

Ok I have to say, after another visit, that the food was really nice. My sister and I ordered the «tea for two» which is served daily between 10am and 3pm. It came on a 3 tier platter with fruit, egg sandwiches, tomato & cream cheese sandwiches, 2 fabulously large and delicious scones, with lemon curd, whip cream, and strawberry jam to put on top. Also a few small baked goods, and of course a hot pot of traditional looseleaf tea in a pot with a tea cozy. Service was wonderful. Those scones are to die for. Very nice brunch date.
They also mentioned their sunny patio with wisteria vines all around will be open as of May so that’s going to be an afternoon visit for sure.

If I could I would regularily travel all the way from Alberta just for a visit to this ecclectic teahouse just off Hwy 1 on the way into Nanaimo from Victoria. My aunt, a local, first introduced me to this place 3 years ago and I have returned every time I have been on the island since. Now, you must be thinking this place must have the best food on the planet, but that is not what keeps me coming back. Now, the food IS good… nothing beats a homemade bowl of cream of mushroom soup… however it is a person who keeps me coming back. Heather, a tea leaf reader, is a truly gifted person who will send shivers up your spine with the accuracy of her readings. Once again, she left me dumbfounded but enlightened on various aspects of my life, and turned one of the most brutal skeptics (my husband) into a true believer! He is already talking about how HE needs to come back now in a couple months just to see her again! I highly recommend this place and Heather in particular… make a reservation far in advanced though as they fill up quickly.
