Walked in, saw the line up of 30 – 40 customers with only a few cashiers available, laughed, and left. I really hope this was a one-time fluke.

I come to Ottawa once or twice a year so I can visit with the Ms.’ In-laws… And plus it’s always great to get out of the city(we moved to NYC a year ago to harvest the cool from Brooklyn) every once in a while(any chance I can get, really lol) Now I love deals just as much as the next maple-blooded Canadian, but this place always seems ransacked by a bunch of desperate villagers who just survived their town being burned down by the Knights Templar. My fellow customers have a very ‘the hills have eyes’ vibe about them. Will go back!

The Optical is the WORST experience I have ever had. Should have went to Loblaws or Costco stupid me. I do not understand how this business is still running. I ordered 2 boxes of contacts that I need ASAP like last week. When they were ready on the weekend I was busy so I went to pick it up today. The hours clearly indicate that it opens at 9am-9pm I got there this morning at 10 the assistant lady was polite and apologized for the inconvenience as she can’t give me the contacts without the opto in the store. So, I wasn’t that pissed off yet because I was being understanding. But the lady didn’t even know when he was going to come or when he was going to leave work. So i went on with my life and went to school. Done school and just went to walmart AGAIN to pick my contacts up. First of all this other assistant different from the morning completely shut me down, RUDESTPERSONEVER. she was literally just like i can’t give you your contacts, optometrist is not here. nothing else, literally just waited for me to get out of the store. and this comes to my next point. SECONDOFALL, Where the hell is the optometrist. 9 – 9. REALLY? Going in whenever you want then leaving, like its not like this is a doctor’s office where I have to make some important appointment. Im picking up a box of contacts that I already paid like 100 dollars for. How are you suppose to serve your PAYING customers when you can’t even be there to serve them, how the hell do customers get what they paid for when customer service SUCKS. Waste of time and money. Never thought I’d ever get this pissed off.

It’s Walmart, and they also sorta seem the same. Now to be fair I’ve only been in this Walmart once, but a few things made this average Walmart slide from a solid 3 stars to 2 stars. On a weekday at 1pm the place was busy, yet almost every aisle(and that’s a lot of aisles) was filled with carts and or boxes with employes stocking shelves. Having to maneuver around carts filled with hanger and light bulbs and such added no joke an extra 15 – 25 minutes to our trip. Upon checkout the cashier ran out of nickles and proceeded to tell me «It’s only 5cents and if you really want it we’ll have to go to customer services and wait in that line» Ummm… shouldn’t you know when you are running low on change? And sure 5 cents might not seem like a lot but this is Walmart, 5 cents can buy you dinner!

Huge selection in this store so you will likely find an item to fit the purpose you need it for. Don’t expect great quality or durability otherwise you would not have gone in there to begin with. If you have been reading the news and the old social conscience thing pops into your head — stay home and donate to UNICEF online. Now getting back to business, the place has tons of stuff from clothes to food to tents and car parts and pet supplies so don’t go in there and complain they don’t have what you want or another shopper might just slap you. It is absolutely insanely busy pretty much any time of the day in there so after 20 minutes in there you may find yourself in a corner breathing into paper bag just to calm down. If you are willing to wake-up at sunrise to be there for 8am on a weekend then will actually be able to run down the aisles to get your stuff and not wind up spending the rest of your natural life waiting in line for a cashier.

It’s a Walmart. What more do you need to say. It’s busy, never enough cashiers, but prices are good. And really that’s why you shop at Walmart in the first place.

This is a fairly large Walmart and is decently stalked. You have to be careful and try to avoid rush hours because this one serves quite a large population. As always it is difficult to find an employee in most departments but other than that no major complains or praises.
