Fantastic store with lots of selection, but more importantly helpful staff! The gentleman who helped us was nice, laid back and knowledgeable. As a beer brewing newbie I was worried these types of places would be judgey since I know nothing and I am just starting out. Great place and will be back continually! :)

Décor /Ambiance: 5⁄5 — Very clean, modern, cozy — Items are well laid out — It feels like the EQ3 of home brew shops Service: 5⁄5 — I’m new to home brewing, and had some newbie questions; the person who helped me, Curtis was just great. You could tell he really does care about you and your brew. — Offers suggestions and solutions to trouble shooting problems. Prices are competitive with other home brewing stores in the city but the service is what really shines here. — They have a good selection of brewing equipment and carry smaller batch equipment — Good selection of brewing books — Milling is done manually with a bicycle(++ in my books)

All the malts, yeast, hops, equipment, and books you need to brew beer at home. Wine making equipment also, but that’s not my thing. They also have a great website with information on hops, recipes, tips, and so on. One of the best parts is the talks that are put on. The brewmaster from Parallel 49 came in for a talk, and soon Canada’s first certified Cicerone(a sommelier for beer) will be by. Or an evening class on making a stir-plate for your yeast starter. There is a high-quality grinder on site, and if you want the more advanced equipment(like a wort chiller), they’re available for rent at a reasonable price. Good if you don’t want to store a bunch of stuff, or if you want to try it out before investing. The best part is that it’s close to home. I like Dan’s, but it’s a drive for anyone but those in the City of Vancouver. Tough to get to if you forgot that one ingredient.

This is a brand-new homebrew supply store in the Sapperton area. They hosted an open house the other day, and I must say I’m impressed. They’ve got a great selection of malts, hops, flavouring, and equipment. Additionally, they sell homebrew starter kits for a reasonable price for the budding homebrewer. They’ve got a small selection of great books on homebrewing to help you learn the ins and outs. A great and unique feature here is the bike powered malt grinder! It makes you work a little for your beer, and I think that makes it taste better.
