Hired Cam for an hour to teach me the basics of maintaining my recently purchased pre-owned Trek Carbon road bike. The hour spent was extremely productive. Cam shared useful insider tips on how to quickly tune the gears, switch pedals, adjust the stem, oil various pivots, plus he fixed my computer to boot. I walked out feeling much more confident about my ability to look after my new baby.

Great service. Prices far too high, nothing under $ 350 when we went. Teeny tiny store.

Where to start… My wife bought me a GT mountain bike 2 years ago in the US. It has never worked properly from the start, with the chain jumping around the gears. I’ve ridden it maybe 6 times in the past 2 years, with the same frustrating results. After being quoted at another local bike shop for $ 250.00 to fix it, I decided to look around(This was after trying to get any sort of warranty…). I encountered a gentleman who suggested I check out New West Cycle, and so I gave them a call. I took my bike in on Wednesday night, and received a call Thursday morning confirming what the other bike shop had told me. Needed to replace the rear wheel. However, this time around I was quoted $ 80.00 for the job! Needless to say I gave them the go ahead and they had it done before closing on Thursday. I ended up picking it up Friday evening(while also bringing my wifes bike in for a $ 10.00 brake adjustment). They showed me a video of what was causing the problem, and explained everything they had done. I gave my bike a test run when I got home, and man is it nice to FINALLY have a working bike. Needless to say I would highly recommend these fellas, and they’ve definitely earned our return business.

I just bought a used bike and the gears were not working properly. I called a couple places to get an idea as to what it might cost to get it working correctly. Close to home was Caps Westwood Cycle. The woman I spoke to could not tell me what it would cost, but to have the mechanic look at it, and go over the cost with me. She estimated anywhere between $ 20 — $ 70, and figured it would fall around $ 40 — $ 50. Considering I spent only $ 50 for the bike, I thought that was a bit much. Then I checked out Unilocal and found New West Cycle. I called them and spoke with Kiefer. He was super polite and informative. He recommended the mini tune up for $ 29 that would include adjusting the brakes, gears, and lubricating the bike. After hanging up I checked out their web site, and discovered that I could«rent a mechanic» for $ 30 and hour, and they would teach me how to fix my bike. What a great experience. I spent an hour with Cam, who within minutes… maybe 5, had my gears working like new! He then went through a number of things about my bike with me and had it running in top notch condition in no time. Not bad for an older bike! These guys at New West Cycle, know what they are doing and aren’t afraid to share that knowledge. It was a bit out of the way for me, but well worth the drive and experience. I would highly recommend this business.

Great bike store and location. I have taken my bike there a few times for quick repairs. Only challenge is they are squeezed into a really small location, so it can be a real challenge to get your bike to the service desk.

Sean, the owner, left working in the oil fields so he could help the world. I, for one, appreciate his efforts. My boyfriend and I both bought bikes for $ 200 each(tax included). They are rad vintage bikes. My only problem is that living in New West I have a lot of trouble climbing hills on a 3 speed bike, but that’s my own fault. You can take the bikes for a test ride. There is a side street just above the store that works great.

It may have been the hill, but when I spied banana seats! Ten-speeds! Cruisers! through the window of this shop, it took me a minute to catch my breath. A sucker for all things bicycle, I immediately ran inside and started poser-ing next to my favourites, including the bright vintage Huffy with coaster brakes that took me back to those summer afternoons spent racing up and down my grandparents’ back road. The shop is small, with room for about 10 – 12 restored rides displayed side by side. With the market for stylish vintage bikes so hot, I was surprised that these ones, for the most part, don’t cost an arm and a leg. However, since we’re talking about older bicycles here, the guys in the shop indicated that prices for some bikes can depend on whether you take the bike as-is(they’re upfront as to whether it might need additional work), or whether you wish to have it worked on some more.(I think I heard that right, anyway; I was overcome by bike lust at the time…) I’m not sure if they’ll let you take take a test ride, but that might be interesting, trying to ride a fixie up the hills of New West.
