Husband and I went to Phở Maxima for dinner. We each ordered a noodle soup and shared a chicken salad roll. Food was really good as well as the staff was friendly. Good place to go with reasonable prices.

I ordered their Beef Stew, and it was really good. This stew had a good aroma with lots of flavor. Their Jackfruit shake on the other hand, was more than slightly disappointing. It doesn’t taste bad, but it also tastes nothing like Jackfruit. On a side note I ordered delivery and was very pleased with how they packaged everything. They made sure to keep my noodles, beef, and vegetables separate from the broth. Also they placed a bag over both the broth and drink, to make sure it didn’t spill.

Recently moved from Vancouver to New WEst and we’re on the hunt for a good phở spot. Came here on a sat for dinner and place was occupied by 2 other tables. Ordered #14 house special phở, cold cut sandwich and spring rolls. We ordered the sandwich udner reccommendation from others. Sandwich: served on ciabatta likely from costco, large pieces of cucumber, pickled veggies, pâté and some slices of pork roll. Disappointed they didn’t put any cilantro. Overall the sandwich was nothing great, something anyone could easily put together at home. I will stick with ordering banh mi from actual banh mi shops to avoid disappointment. PHo: Extremely disappointed. Soup was not hot enough. I was repulsed by the first taste of the soup, something which has never happened before. I grew up eating fish sauce because my mom was raised in Haiphong, Vietnam but this place uses too much fish sauce. The soup lacked depth and complexity in traditional phở soup flavours. I felt like they didn’t use a long cooking method or spices. I could barely taste any star anise or cinnamon — just fish sauce! Hubby and I had to use a lot of hot sauce to make it more palatable. Some slices of meat didn’t taste as fresh, particularly the tendon which had a strange very stale taste — likely been sitting in the fridge and exposed to circulating air for a long time. Spring rolls: Wrapped in egg roll wraps. Filling was mostly vermicelli wit minimal amounts of meat or vegetables. I noticed that many of the phở houses here in New West use a lot more vermicelli compared to phở houses in Vancouver where a lot more meat and vegetables are used. OIl was not fresh so rolls came out very dark in colour but at least they were still crispy. Overall, not impressed with food and don’t plan on coming back or recommend to anyone.

My first visit to Phở Maxima was on a Tuesday for lunch. I was surprised at how busy they were. There was only one server and one person in the kitchen. The server was quite busy helping out in the kitchen to do much serving. Once the server did find the time to take my order, my special phở noodle was served quite quickly. The phở soup was not very hot compared to the typical soups at other phở houses. One slice of my beef did not taste that fresh. My rating for their phở would be 2⁄5. Their establishment had mostly tables for 4 with a long table in the middle that would seat 12. Décor was plan but airy. Parking at this location is easy as there are spaces immediately up front. By the time I was finished my meal, I had to wait another 10 minutes for the server to take my money at the counter. My rating for their service would be 1⁄5.

This little place is a gem! They take debit which is nice too. I have stopped in here a few times now whenever I’m craving some tasty phở. If you want that craving to be satisfied, this is a great place to try out. It’s close to home as well!

Popped in yesterday. Not bad, but not outstanding. Soup left a very chemical aftertaste for both of us. Banh Mi was mostly daikon with a few strips of pork. Bread, as usual, was outstanding. The mission for the best phở & banh mi continues…

This is one of those places that you drive by and always mean to try, but pass on time and time again. I finally got a chance to swing by here last week and try their phở. For $ 9, you get a pretty good value with a large bowl of phở and a spring roll. If you are looking to eat on value, hands down this is one of the cheapest phở places around. In terms of taste, i had the Bun bo hue and the soup was somewhat lacking in depth and flavor. There were hints of lemon grass, but the spice was definitely missing. The spring roll was crispy and the filling was standard. The coloring was a bit dark, so perhaps they need to change the oil a little more frequently. All in all, a good value, but not the best tasting phở around. For about $ 5 more, i could get something more tasty at Phở Tan up the hill.

I consider myself a phở enthusiast and try to go to new phở places all the time. I think Phở Maxima is the best phở around. Me and my girl been going there for almost 5 years. the servers are friendly and nice. the food is excellent. we always get couple of bowls with spring rolls or chicken sub. We have never paid more than $ 20 there. every phở place we go to, we compare it tho Phở Maxima and Phở Maxima wins every time!

My friend Mark and I come here at least once a month if not more(we alternate between different ph restaurants). This place is by for the most consistent of the ph restaurants we go to. We love the fast and friendly service and their broth is always tasty. Noodles are cooked perfectly and never once we had too soft or too chewy ones. They are also never cheap with their basil and bean sprouts either. One extra thing we love about the place is their tea. It’s a lotus tea of some sort that I have never had it other than this place. You can buy a bag for $ 6 or something, though it’s quite expensive I might one day cave in and buy a bag as I like it so much.

We tried this restaurant based on mostly positive reviews here. We’re glad we did. We had a good experience during our dinner. The place was clean and the hostess was friendly. I enjoyed my BBQ pork chop with rice(#37). I was pleasantly surprised it came with real pickled veggies on the side. Other Vietnamese restaurants only have regular veggies. This order also came with a cup of soup. My partner ordered beef stew with egg noodles. The hostess was very accommodating when we asked if the noodles could be substituted with a baguette. Their sub sandwich was good too. Generous amount of cold cuts and pickled veggies too. We will definitely return.

This rating is strictly based on the food quality. The server was nice but this was the worst Vietnamese food we’ve ever tried and we have been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. We had BBQ chicken(lemongrass flavour) which had a weird stuffy after taste and the egg rolls were small and soggy with not much tatse. Meat and veggies were very small in quantity compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. We would never go back there.

Best phở around! I’ve been going here for years, and you’ll notice most of the customers are regulars. The ingredients always taste fresh, and a generous amount of noodles are given in your phở. We’ve been on a couple of «off» nights, but overall, 5 star!

My friend and I go out for phở every Saturday morning, alternating between one close to my house and one close to his. This is the one we usually hit up when it’s his week. I just reread my original review of Maxima and I still agree that it has really good tea. :-) Their broth is consistently awesome and even better is that the server remembers us and our regular orders and has from *the second* time we came in. Love it. I have yet to try anything besides the soup here, but I’m going to assume that it’s just as tasty. :-) I wish it was a little closer to home(20 minutes drive) so I could go to it a bit more often.

The Vietnamese subs served here are some of the best I’ve had. The bread is lightly toasted so it’s crispy outside and soft when you dig in. I got the grilled chicken sandwich — the grilled chicken was freshly grilled and went really well with the other veggies in the sub. It’s filling and only $ 3.75 each. The phở here is meh for me. Wouldn’t come back for it. I’d come back for the subs though.

I think I’ve found my favourite phở joint! Who would have known it would be located in New West? Their broth is clear, not too oily and the price is relatively standard. Their subs are so cheap and yummy! I come here at least once to twice a week to fulfill my phở cravings. Please be aware… if you are a girl and gets cold easily, perhaps layer up because every time I go there they have their portable heaters on. I don’t think they have a central heating system in place. I can’t imagine what the summer is like in their restaurant since I have recently discovered this phở joint during the fall/winter season. The service is very friendly and efficient. I definitely recommend this place for quick eats.

We had Hue noodles and dry vermicelli with grilled chicken and spring rolls. More meat would be nice for the Hue noodles, but the broth was not overtly MSG’d so that was a bonus. The sauce for the vermicelli was nicely mixed, the chicken was evenly grilled. The spring roll is skinnier in girth than other places, but it was made from fresh ingredients and freshly fried. There was one server so we waited for a little bit, but she was very nice and efficient.

Looks pretty much a hole in the wall. Ordered a small bowl of noodle soup. Came with a small dish of fresh basil and sprout. No complaint here. The soup tasted great. I didn’t feel that thirsty after(i.e. my MSG indicator). I also ordered a chicken sub to take home, which was very tasty. The waitress while friendly does not speak very good English. So don’t try to make your order too complicated.

As with all Phở noodle soup. MSG is one of the key ingredients. This hole in a wall place doesn’t lack that but hack! Although very thirsty after, I still need a shot of this chemical once awhile. :P Very reasonable priced, this places makes good phở soup and grilled sandwiches. Their phở are a good smaller size so I am not way too stuffed to enjoy a spring roll or share a sandwich with my friend. …Oh, their sandwiches… hmmmm…wish they have more fillings coz I can’t get enough of the tasty chicken inside! Service is excellent! The waitress was so nice that I bought her a box of chocolate for X’mas and she’s mainly the reason I visit often during weekends.

A true phở connoisseur knows that the broth is the key to a good phở. Following in a close second in the texture of the noodle. Phở Maxima makes an excellent broth with a nice aroma of star anise and cinnamon. I was introduced to this spot by a friend who went as far as to say this is his new phở spot and quickly dismissed his fave spot of several years. The price of your meal will be consistent with other phở noodle houses and the service is great considering it’s a smaller spot with few staff. One thing to try on the menu are their vietnamese subs. The grilled chicken sub and the cold cut subs are both equally awesome and definitely a must have. Also try the grilled chicken salad roll, which uses the same awesome chicken! Located in a small mini-mall on the west side of 20th st, parking is limited, but still always available. Phở Maxima is definitely on my list of quick eats on the cheap!
