Went here on a Friday night with my husband and 2-year old son. Note to parents with little ones: they don’t have high chairs or booster seats here — come prepared with your own. Luckily we parked close by so my husband went back to the car to get our portable booster. Overall experience: 3⁄5 It would be a higher rating had the following ALL didn’t happen during our time here: (1) My husband ordered an entrée he wanted to try. The guy said they were all sold out of the entrée(forget what it’s called — it had a long name starting with an «L», some sort of beef on crispy flat bread). Sold out? It was 6pm, and there was only 1 other table there! (2) My husband also ordered a «gin blossom» for a cocktail. Since he needed to decide on something else to eat with Choice #1 unavailable, the guy gave us a few more minutes. That’s when he took off out the door and around the corner! We were like«Huh?!» He came back within 5 minutes with a small bottle newly purchased of Beefeater in his hand. I guess they had run out of gin too to make the gin blossom! (3) After finishing his cocktail, my husband tried to order a Turkish cream soda. They don’t have it. They didn’t have any of the Turkish sodas on the menu. This was starting to sound like a broken record. (4) Finally, dessert. We wanted some baklava, the only dessert item on the menu. And… yep, you guessed it — they didn’t have it! He said they are having trouble finding phyllo pastry to make it. We went across the street to Golestan Bakery and got a boxful to take home instead. Food — 4⁄5 This would be at 5 if we had been able to order what we wanted. But nonetheless, I really enjoyed my falafel platter, and my husband really liked his Turkish meatball platter. The hummus is nice and thick, great with the pita bread. The rice was really good too. My falafel was creamy and light, not heavy like some other falafels I’ve had. The Turkish meatballs were great — nice beefy flavour, well seasoned, moist. Service — 4⁄5 Not overly smiley or conversational, but friendly enough. Came over twice to see if we were doing ok. To sum up, we will return for the great food, even though service wasn’t stellar. And hopefully we will hear less«We’ve run out» or «We don’t have that» next time.

Food ***** Service ***** Atmosphere *** This place is all about the food & service-like other Turkish places I’ve been in this café doesn’t go all out on interior decorations-but both the food & service are outstanding in every way. Definitely recommended.

Great food? Check. Wallet-friendly prices? Check. Superb service? Check. I’m so sold! Having lived and worked in Istanbul, I have been on the lookout for a real authentic Turkish meal ever since I left. Forget about the typical donairs that you can find anywhere, Turkish food is so much more than that. We ordered the kofte platter, which was amazing. The meat was seasoned perfectly and had a very nice charred taste. We also ordered the lahmacun(Turkish flatbread pizza) and the falafel platter, which were both very tasty. In fact, I swear that there’s something magical in those falafels, because they were probably best falafels that I’ve had here in Canada. Entrees ranged anywhere between $ 10 and $ 15. The atmosphere was very nice and cozy. Perfect for catching up with good friends. If you haven’t tried authentic Turkish food before, come here to try it out. Divan Kitchen, you guys are doing it right. I’m so coming back.

Excellent stuff, and I’ll definitely be back. Had the Turkish Meatballs which were very tasty, and a decent appy sized portion. Then I had the Falafel plate. Falafels were the best I’ve had in Vancouver. So crisp on the outside, so tasty on the inside. Loved it. The only blemish was a hummus that was bland. It was like taking a pile of chickpeas and just mashing them together with no seasoning. Otherwise it was a perfect meal. Price was good, portion was good, and service was good too, all combined made a great meal. Thank goodness Unilocal came through again!

I had the pleasure of dining here with my husband and 3 others on a Monday night after a Golf Tourney. It was our first time going to a resto with Turkish food and we were all SO hungry and tired. Usually when I’m this tired and hungry the last thing i wanna do is try new food… but i got on Unilocal and read some reviews to see what dishes were the best. WOW were we ever impressed! The food was fantastic, healthy and YUMMY! The service was very quick, friendly and comfortable. I love the way it is set up inside as well, booths are always cozy. :-) We highly recommend this place! My friend even placed a takeout order for the next day for a work lunch she had to host! My husband loves village greek salads with chicken breast and in that area in North Van none of them are open at lunch, so guess who is getting our business now! Here is what we had: Falafel platter 3 dips appy Turkish meatballs Village salads with chicken

Divan Kitchen is great it quickly became our favorite place as we are new to Vancouver. They use only the finest cuts of meat, can’t go wrong ordering anything on the menu but the beef(tenderloin) Kebab and the mixed Kebab is my favorite. Also the ayran(yogurt drink) is made fresh by the bartender plus they serve Efes(Turkish beer)

I found my falafels not too tasty and fairly greasy. Friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Yum Alert. The Divan Kitchen is a hip, warm comfy place at Lonsdale &15th that makes really really really delicious wholesome food. I had no idea that felafel, kebab and meatballs could taste so good. Oi. High ceilings, huge windows, soft seats and good acoustics make this the perfect place for cozy conversation on a dark and rainy North Vancouver day. If you ask nicely, the friendly progressive owners will let you use their wi-fi to patch into your email as you savour raki, a traditional turkish liquor like ouzo — or a bottle of one of their many fine whites or reds. Yum.

The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Take away containers are paper which is much more environmentally friendly that the Styrofoam stuff you get at most restaurants.

Very very small but very very delicious Turkish food, which I have never had before. The Kofte is so yummy. So is the shepherd’s salad. And the rice. Everything we’ve had there is excellent actually. Go! Support them!

Karin, you totally reminded me of the all the days that I spent in North Van a few years back. And of course, I was usually found here picking up food then making a stop at Book Warehouse to peruse the aisles or pick up the Straight. I love this place! Great food, quick and super helpful service along with incredibly fresh fare. What else do you look for in a restaurant? Authenticity?(Has that too, well as far as I know). Love it and would definitely go back again!
