WOW! Just WOW. If you want great roti, you GOTTA stop here. Small small hole in the wall, and every nook and cranny is filled with LOVEOFGREATFOOD. They butcher their own primals in the shop to control meat quality. And the roti. OHMYSWEETLORD the ROTI. Its light, when you pick it up the outer layers wiggle like feathers in the breeze. It looks alive and melts in your mouth like butter. How many times have you had roti and felt after like you swallowed a ball of cake batter? Not here. Its by far the best roti I have ever had and very seriouly doubt I will ever find better. The jerk is a wonderful collection of traditional spices mixed in a unique way. Everything on the menu is fabulous. From the chicken to the rice everything is beyond reproach. Whenever I am driving into or out of Toronto, I hit try to hit Miranda’s. I have written before about food that takes you away mentally. That has the power to change your mood for the better and HEAL your soul. Miranda’s food does that. THeir staff are wonderful and friendly. They are in love with what they are doing and it shows. You have to try this place if you get the chance! If you need to really get lost in some great food, this is the place.

I’ve been to Miranda’s a few times and the food is always excellent. As in: Chef Ramsey kitchen nightmares would come in, do the makeover with some benches in the front and tell Miranda to keep doing her thing because her food is that good. The wait is 10 – 20 minutes and there’s only a couple of chairs, but the guy out front is friendly and the food is worth it. If you’ve never had Caribbean style food(aka you’re white) try an order of doubles and some jerk chicken roti. I did, and look at me now?! The roti is worth it. And a shout out as one cook to another to the girls through the window working. Again, food is always great = Miranda loves her food.

No complaints about this place! I tried it for the first time years ago and was blown away by how much it tastes like moms home cooking from back home. Just the right amount of spices used. I am usually very picky when it comes to Caribbean food. I strongly recommend this place.

Miranda’s is located in Oshawa I pop in about once or twice a month before heading over to my aunts home. I look forward to my beef or chicken roti with extra gravy the perfect amount of meat or chicken and potatoes combined the doubles are fantastic everything is made fresh, I usually call in advance from the highway for my order so it’s ready when I get there because usually there’s a wait time. Totally worth the wait though. It’s a little more expensive and the size of the Roti is a little smaller than what I’m used to getting in Toronto but since it’s once a month I thoroughly enjoy treating myself I love love the flavor of her curry. The owners Miranda and her husband are wonderful always have a big smile great customer service!

I’ve drove by Miranda’s many times and never stopped in which was a bit of a shame as I had a great lunch today. Basically it’s a hole in the wall and a bit shabby looking when you walk in as is this part of Simcoe St., but the kitchen looked clean and the Lady who greeted me and made my Roti was incredibly friendly and welcoming when she realized it was my first visit. The roti I ordered had good flavor and the chicken was VERY tender and moist and the potatoes cooked just right, plus the spice was spot on to what I asked for. My only negative thing to say was that the size was a little smaller that what I have received at other roti shops I have tried porportion to the price, which came to $ 9.50 with a Pepsi and taxes. In looking at a value I would say that this meal and drink should have come in under $ 8 but the food quality was very good so I won’t slam them, but did have to max them at 3 stars. I would give them another go :)
