Wonderful atmosphere for a romantic dinner with my wife. Food was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. They serve local wines and dishes made with local ingredients. Service was terrific too.

Scallops, scallops, scallops! Finally got to go back to one of my favorite wine bars and have a delicious meal! My friend has the Filet and Frites and I had the Sea Scallops, cooked to perfection. We were lucky enough to even have the owner/chef there to make it for us! Date night, treat yourself night, or any night for that matter — it’s a must go!

We came to 327 Wine Bar for a conference dinner of 19 people on a Saturday night and were very happy with our visit. We had arranged a restricted menu of a soup, choice of entrée and dessert ahead of our visit because of the size of the group and because the conference budget required us to keep costs predictable. Sometimes this can result in disappointing choices but I didn’t feel that way at all here. We all started with a wild mushroom«bisque»(a big pet peeve — it’s not a bisque if it’s not thickened with shells! but it was delicious, so I digress) and then were offered a choice of ctirus duck breast, creamy gnocchi or vegan vegetable curry, followed by a strawberry and apple crumble for dessert. I(and everyone around me) had the duck breast, which was delicious and perfectly paired with roast sweet potato and prosciutto(i think) wrapped asparagus. Although the duck was the most popular choice one member of our table did order the gnocchi which she said was good, too. The dessert was not too big, which was great after a creamy soup and rich duck breast. Both our red and white wines paired well with the food and were nicer than your standard wine for a group dinner. The service was very good — they were always around when we needed them, friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and food. The ambiance was nice — classy but not so fancy that anyone felt out of place. Definitely a great place for group dinners, and everyone visiting the restaurant for regular meals seemed happy as well. Give it a try.

Before I mention anything, there are two 327 Somersets. I was late to the Unilocal event because I went to 327 Somerset East seeing as it was the first thing that popped up on my GPS. This place is Somerset West. It doesn’t indicate it at all on their website or on here. I remember having a really excellent time with my Unilocal friends here in September. I wish I reviewed it sooner. This place would be a cool place to take a date. It has a relaxed ambiance and comfortable chairs. I sat down with my Unilocalers and was handed a menu immediately. I went with the creamsicle drink, seeing as it is my favorite frozen dessert in the world. No regrets there, it was fantastic. They have a small, but adequate menu. Theres likely something you’ll enjoy on it, I think they even have a vegan dish or two. I ordered the gnocci with a wild mushroom cream sauce. I had the option of having fried prosciutto on top but I decided against it because I don’t eat pork. While I waited for my main I tried the hummus. I remember really liking the white bean one and not liking the sun dried tomato one. Everyone else really seemed to be enjoying it, I’m not a big hummus eater though. I really enjoyed my gnocci. The mushroom sauce was sooo good, it was rich and creamy and salty. I can definitely understand why the fried prosciutto would be good on top. The gnocci was cooked perfectly too, awesome! I can never do gnocci properly and I give props to whoever can. I remember there being 2 huge shoots of chive on top of my dish and I had no idea what to do with them, and there were two peculiar looking bread sticks. Andrea B’s boyfriend thought they were chopsticks and I did too, I even think we both attempted to eat with the breadsticks. Great place to grab some drinks with friends, or to bring someone on a date.

I was so excited to try this little spot in Somerset Village. I used to be a huge fan of Joy, and was sad to see it go, but this place is stunning, and the remodel has transformed this once cramped space into a perfect wine bar. The service is stealthy, helpful and friendly. Refilled water appears without you noticing and their wine knowledge is impeccable. I came on a Tuesday evening around 7:30 and had seven other guests with me. Impeccable service, as I said. We ordered some sharing plates. We got their hummus trio which came with some yummy crisps, and their antipasto with the prosciutto and Le Riopelle triple cream brie — YUM! All the food was amazing. I didn’t sample any of their amazing wine selection as I was on cold meds(ew.), but everyone around me was very pleased with their choices(including those swilling cocktails). The music was awesome, and we happened to catch a glimpse of our little corgi pup on their digital frame showcasing local pets for the Ottawa Humane Society. I can’t wait to come back to this place for wine with some girlfriends. It’s an amazing addition to the Somerset scene and I’m really looking forward to hanging on their pet-friendly patio next season!

After my second visit to 327 Wine, I had to come back and update my review. The service this time around was outstanding(both from our server and the chef/co-owner, who again came out and chatted with us about the food), the food was great(we had the charcuterie, which is never my favourite dish anywhere, but was clearly done very well here), the drinks were pentiful, and the background music was Radiohead. Pretty much heaven in a restaurant right there.
