Definitely worth the price! I went there for dinner, it did not let me down. The waitress was very friendly, she helped me to choose the drink which matches my dish. My most pleasant dining experience in Ottawa so far!

Came here when staying at the Lord Elgin hotel and was pleasantly suprised by the quality of service and food given the other Unilocal reviews. I sat at the bar where they were happy to serve me the full restaurant menu. The barman, Jerome, was particularly excellent — he gave great recommendations on the local area, food and wine. All of which were spot on. I even expressed an interest in local wines and was given a complimentary mini wine tasting session at the to help me decide. The Angel Falls Pinot Noir is excellent FYI. I then had filet mignon for main was was perfectly cooked and prepared. If you’re staying at the Elgin, definitely come here during your stay. If you’re in the area, it’s worth the trip.

Ordered the ‘low calorie’ breakfast because I felt like poached eggs. The toast arrived cold, and felt like it was made using month-old bread. I had to ask three times for butter and my water was never refilled, despite being empty and set on the edge of the table in plain view of the server who passed by multiple times. The coffee wasn’t terrible, which is surprising for a hotel restaurant, and the eggs were cooked nicely to over-medium without me asking.

Lunch was amazing. Duck poutine was devine. The burger omg! Ny striploin for lunch? Yes please! The prices were decent for what you got. Service was knowledgeable and efficient. Reservation was easy online. I would recommend this for a more upscale lunch.

Ew. Went there for a staff lunch. Yucky. I had the seafood linguine. It was frozen seafood in a boring tomato sauce which was not at all how it was described. All the food looked like frozen, microwaved food. Never again. Skip it. Waaaay better places to eat than this place.

We went here for the turkey for thanksgiving. We ordered appetizer for two, lamb shank and turkey breast. The amount is large. But the food is not worth what is paid for sure. If the price is cut by half, that would worth is relatively good environment. We all think it just tastes like the most common home made food or lower.

The menu is very short, the food overpriced and the portions are small and very bland. I had one of their St. Paddy’s Week specials. The appetizer was bacon wrapped scallops with rosemary butter. The scallops were overcooked and mostly tasteless, the bacon was slightly burnt and crunchy(beyond crispy) and the rosemary butter was very bland. The main dish was«surf and turf» … the half NY strip was undercooked and under-spiced. The only saving grace was that the sear was done ok and it had the slightest hint of a finishing salt, other than that it was undercooked, underaged beef and quite bland. The«turf»(half of a lobster tail) was massively overcooked, had almost no flavour and was actually a bit burnt in places. It tasted like it sat around under a heat lamp for far too long. The desert was green crème-brule. word cannot describe just how un-appetizing green crème brûlée looks. It tasted ok – the custard was a little lumpy and the sugar top was too thick and burnt. The food all had potential but it just seems like the regular chef was out sick and someone was nuking yesterday’s leftovers. Decently plated, but that’s about all it had going for it. All-in-all I would not go back again(which is unfortunate as I’m staying in the same hotel they are attached to). I wish I had read the reviews here before the wife and I dished out $ 100 and walked away hungry and un-satisfied. I literally just walked around the corner and grabbed a schwarma from a small street shop and it is so much better than the offerings from Grill Forty One.

I was here for brunch in a group of 13. This place was chosen for its buffet-style brunch, though they do a la carte as well. We needed the meal to be easy and it was. I wouldn’t come back for the food(standard, utilitarian, uninspired and not particularly tasty), the atmosphere(sterile at best), the service(surly), or the value(18CAD was way overpriced for soggy French toast, McDonald’s-grade«crepes” – actually pancakes – sausage, bacon, eggs, token smoked salmon, and – yawn – mixed melon). Grill 41 brunch is adequate for a business meeting or a quick breakfast on a business trip, but it seems unworthy of an institution such as the Lord Elgin.

Very pricey and the food doesn’t live up to the price. The food probably doesn’t live up to the price if the price was 50% of what it is now.

This is the newly renovated hotel bar and restaurant connected to the popular Lord Elgin hotel. I’ve yet to have a sit down meal here but I’ve enjoyed some of their appetizers and the bar with some friends recently. The staff were pleasant and took care of us. The apps were standard to a regular restaurant but the extended menu looked nice, with higher priced options such as the steak and seafood options looked to be their signature dishes. The drinks were good and quite large. Even a standard bar rail drink like a vodka and 7 or rye and coke came in a larger than normal glass. I’d never been in the old hotel bar before they switched it up but this current place has a lot of space and lots or room if you choose to rent it out for a private event. The bar area was nice and almost separate from the dining area. The only annoying thing was that the washroom were downstairs in the hotel so you had to walk all the way out of the restaurant and then down a few stairs to find them.
