I went there on a weekend. And it turns out that the place was just vacant. No customer there. Then I ordered a lamb platter, with rice. The lamb was not cooked properly. They were not pleasant while serving. And the guy was stressing me to get a lamb shank, which I didn’t want. For 16 $+ tax, I do NOTSEE A VALUE in this place. I DONOT recommend this at all.

What a amazing restaurant! Been there a few times and would definitely go again. The rice is mouth watering and delicious, while the kabobs are scrumptious and flavourful. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. The price is affordable too. The next time I go to Ottawa, I want to go there. Just thinking about the food makes me hungry. You rock Afghani Kabob Express. 5 stars all the way baby!!!

I have been a customer here for more than two years. The food is always fresh and tasty. I have tried everything on the menu and would recommend every single dish. There is something for everyone — meat(chicken, beef or lamb) and vegetarian. The staff is very inviting and happy to answer any questions. I would highly recommend the ‘Kebab trio’ and ‘Mantoon’!

Went to the Daily special. Chammie kabob, rice and salad. Fresh off the grill and very tasty. Nicely spiced. Was offered a tea while I waited which was very welcome on a cold winters day.

I went here last night with friends. When you enter, the place comes across as a cafeteria, where you make your order and you can see a long line of food under glass as well as the cooking area. The establishment is very clean and brightly lit, with simple tables and décor on the wall. The folks working there are quite affable and hospitable as well, and I enjoyed talking to them for a bit as I was making my order. The lady brought us some hot tea at the end of our meal out of sheer kindness, too. I ordered the kofta(a mildly-spiced meatball in a lentil-tomato sauce) and a salad and sampled the potato-leek boolani(a flakey, stuffed savory Afghan pancake) and had some ferni(a pudding scented with rose water and topped with ground pistachios). Everything was delicious and fresh and I was pleased with what I got as well as the price tag. I’ll definitely be going back there soon, most likely to have my favorite Afghan dumpling(mantu).

Food here is terrific. Dumplings and the leek and spinach boolani are amazing! Definitely recommend eating here.

I ordered the Mantoo and the beef shami, and both were delicious. Well seasoned and very fresh tasting. As I ordered delivery, I can’t speak to the décor or service, but delivery was prompt and courteous.

Glad we came across this place while visiting Ottawa, we were in search for good meal and were not disappointed. As stated in other review the staff is very friendly and passionate about their food. We ordered multiple items that we wanted and some that were suggested and they were all very good. The Kofta was a bit oily but other then that no complains what so ever. Will definitely return on out next trip back to Ottawa

Visiting Ottawa, I was searching for shawarma and ended up in Afghani Kabob Express. When I entered, the two guys working there were so passionate about their product and that their«shami» would taste even better than what I was looking for that I was sold, and took my chicken shami to go. The sandwich was excellent! The meat was tender and tasty with a simply excellent garlic sauce. I was so impressed, I gave the guys a call to tell them they were right!

We had the family platter with a substitution of lamb for one kabob for a couple of bucks more. Then platter is $ 50 and more than the four of us could eat. All of the meat was juicy and we enjoyed the side dishes. The kabobs were cooked after we ordered them so were very fresh. It looks like a cafeteria style, but they service on real china.

Popped in on a whim today for an early dinner. Place wasn’t too busy which is expected for a Sunday afternoon. I had a Kofta platter and my girlfriend had Lamb kabob. Both were very tasty. The sauce on the kofta was very good and neither of the meats were dry. Platter came with rice, salad and Afghan naan bread. As I said everything was very tasty and portions were very generous. 11 – 13 dollars for the platters, so quite reasonable for the amount of food. The care is obvious, food is not just slapped on a plate. Service wasn’t amazing but not enough to prevent me coming back. Would definitely return!
