After a dinner in the Byward market, my friend and I decided to stop by this Bridgehead for a coffee before heading back. The service was decent and we both got our drinks pretty fast. My friend went for a regular coffee and I went for their traditional cappuccino. Even though the cup was relatively small, it was packed with flavour and had a rich milky taste. I had to resist the urge of going back for more. The regular brew didn’t seem to be too bad either considering my coffee fanatic friend complimented on his drink’s freshness. Prices are a bit higher than your usual Tim Hortons, but well worth it as a treat in my opinion. Would recommend after having lunch or dinner in the market.

Didn’t love the place of coffee. Stopped in for a coffee and snack, the barista wasnt particularly helpful and a little snooty. Got a coffee with skim and a biscotti. Have had better of both. Not that impressed.

Excellent flavour coffee. Better than Starbucks! But at a higher cost and no loyalty program.

Fantastic coffee! Reminds me of the kind of coffee in Seattle or at high-end coffee shops. While the price might be a little steep for the average daily cup of joe, it provided a great taste with some caffeine to get my day started. They also have free wifi!

I really like bridgehead, it’s where I go if I want a good coffee served to me by the hippest of hipsters. If you are looking for those sweet lattes sold at other places, this is not the place for you. The lattes and flavours here are not overly sweet, which is why I love it so much. However, if you are looking for something to fill that sweet tooth, I recommend the organic chocolate brownie; it’s awesome! My one complaint about this coffeehouse is that their lattes are never hot enough. I personally love a super hot lattes(and no, I’m not looking to drop a lawsuit on you), and regardless of me asking for extra hot I often get luke warm at best(hence the three stars). Overall, the multiple locations have a consistent mellow vibe, free wifi, and gluten free and vegan options(Perfect for all hipsters and hipster wanna-bees).

So far I have not understood the fascination with bridgehead coffee houses. The drip coffee is meh, the snack options are limited, and everything is organic(bore). Locations are great but the wifi is for an hour only and by receipt code so not great for idling or studying. But today I wanted to give a shout out to the barista who made me my vanilla latte. Didn’t get his name but see pictures for the beautiful coffee art that put a smile on my face. Didn’t hurt that the latte was yum either so it is my recommendation as well. Other flavours available.

Dear Bridgehead, These redemptive stars apply to your Dalhousie location only. 1) It seems to have fewer nasty metal chairs 2) I don’t even bother to ask for the dumb wifi code any more so I am no longer vexed by the fact that it seldom works. 3) You have an excellent counter man at this location who may be a few birthdays north of 60. He is professional, courteous and funny and has very flash footwear. Other coffee shops(Bucks included) should take a leaf from the Home Depot and hire some retired folks to keep it real. 4) I concede. Your granola cookies are very good. Lets call it a truce.

Bridgehead Coffeehouses stand for wonderful social and environmental values and for this reason, I have a special java-space in my heart for them. I actually prefer most of their locations over Starbucks and Second Cup… That said, this Dalhousie location is another go-to location for me; the coffee and food is tasty, it’s near the Byward Market, there is plenty of street parking, there are nice shops close by… However, I find it very disheartening that the shop is nearly always full, especially of laptop geeks and bookworms sitting alone, hogging all the good seats. Don’t get me wrong; I read AND work on laptops/tablets in coffee shops, but I don’t usually take up a seat at rush hour in a little cozy place with limited seating. That’s when I go to a bigger coffee shop, to be «alone in society». I wish management would encourage a bit more«circulation» in this location. Otherwise, it’s a nice spot.

we are so saddened to see how much the place has downgraded. The coffee is no longer excellent like it used to be. The place has become a library, people sit there for hours with their books and laptops; no one dares say anything. People who want to sit and have coffee, too bad, too sad, no table, no space. Where is management? Suggestion-open less coffee shops and manage well. Have now returned to Starbucks for our daily coffee breaks.

I dropped by this Bridgehead for a coffee tonight, no latte. I feel like if you’ve been to one Bridgehead you’ve been to them all. I like this Bridgehead more than the other ones I’ve been to though. I don’t know why but it seems more open than the other ones I’ve been to. There seems to be a bit more room than the other ones I’m used to going to though some do have more sq ft.

I’m used to baristas being friendly, outgoing and generally smiley people. Perhaps the woman working at this Bridgehead during my last visit was just having a bad day but my expectations weren’t exactly met. I ordered one of their amazing holiday drinks and they didn’t ask or even put whip cream on it when they served it to me. Secondly, the woman working at the cash seemed extremely flustered. To top things off I sat in the nook that is surrounded by three glass walls and the one employee came over and sprayed the windows with a cleaner that smelled like 100%. It was a disgusting smell that I couldn’t endure while trying to enjoy a coffee and muffin. I left with probably my very first poor Bridgehead experience. This was my first time to this location and I’ll continue to go to BH but probably avoid this particular store.

Was impressed with the fact you can get Puerh tea there and the cappuccino was very good. Reasonable prices compared to Starbucks et al.

I guess each city has it’s own«local» favourite and from what I understand, Bridgehead, seems to be an Ottawa favourite for the organic coffee and chocolate brownies. I’m a caffeine addict right now, so I thought I’d sample the wares. Latte was weak and the neat foam design didn’t match up to the taste. The brownie was dense, but nothing too spectacular. Too each his own I guess, but Toronto’s café’s have better options in my mind.
