While the décor was quite nice, the flavour of the food was lacking. There were only a couple of dishes that tasted good, in my opinion, and the desserts all tasted like they came directly from a package. I wont be eating here again.

Very good first experience, Great variety of food for everyone. Price wasn’t bad at all for the food. The staff are not welcoming but not rude either. It was very busy and we had to wait ’bout 15 mins to be seated so I would highly recommend reserving a table before going there. The only thing that I didn’t like is the threatening policy of either finish your dish or we’ll charge you a fine. REALLY! I know people overload their dishes sometimes but that why open buffet restaurants are more expensive then others. Overall, I would definitely go again.

We’ve been to Eclipse quite a few times. The food is good, with enough variety to keep it interesting. It is also quite close to where we live. In the past couple of months, we’ve found Eclipse coupons in Metro daily for $ 5 off dinner per table, for Mondays to Thursdays only. Not much, but still a good incentive for us to go there every week or 2. This evening, after dinner, when we went to pay, the manager/owner(?) derided me for using the coupon every time. He said it was meant for new customers only. But 1) there’s nothing on the coupon to indicate that it’s for new customers only! 2) who’s to say if we are new customers or not — we sometimes bring different people with us! Well, not to worry, manager/owner: we are never coming back, coupon or not!

I went here for lunch with my parents. The Monday-Friday lunch buffet is $ 12.95. I was quite impressed with selection here. They had dim sum items(Shrimp Har Gow, Shrimp Siu Mai, Pork Siu Mai, Tripe, Black Bean Spare Ribs, and Steamed Buns), soups(Wonton, Egg Drop, and Hot and Sour), sushi(nigiri, maki rolls, and inari pockets), as well as the usual items(General Tao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Lemon Chicken, Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, etc.). They had several fish dishes(Teriyaki Salmon and Steamed Basa) as well as some vegetarian dishes(stir-fried vegetables, fried noodles, fried rice, etc.). They had North American items like 2 types of chicken wings(BBQ and plain fried), French Fries and Onion Rings as well. They had lots of different types of cakes and pastries, as well as ice cream. So there’s lots of variety. What did I love? I loved the Shrimp Har Gow. They were mostly shrimp with very little if any bamboo(yay, I hate bamboo). The dough outside was chewy but not overly so, and not too thick. I also loved the Mango Chicken. It’s battered and deep fried chicken stir fried with pieces of mango, peppers and onions. It was delicious. The sauce was sticky and sweet and full of mango flavour. I also love mushrooms, and I was so excited to see that they had a stir-fried cloud ear fungus dish. I was not disappointed. They also had a shrimp and mushroom stir-fry. While the shrimp were not that large, the white button mushrooms were huge. What did I not like? Well, I didn’t try every single item, but of what I tired, the only thing that I didn’t like was the Shrimp Siu Mai because they were incredibly oily. Everything else was pretty good. Sometimes certain things were not hot enough(temperature-wise). I took a few pieces of General Tao Chicken the first time and they were hot, but when I returned for a few more pieces, those pieces were room temperature. This happened with a few different items. The place is very clean looking. Washrooms are clean. The staff are nice, and competent(refilled waters and clear plates in a timely manner) although their English is somewhat limited. There’s lots of free parking in the lot. In terms of Asian buffets where you serve yourself(as opposed to you ordering and the staff bring it to you), I would say that this is one of the better places in Ottawa. It is definitely better than Yang Ming Buffet, the now defunct Golden Century Buffet, and the now defunct Easy Garden Buffet, in my opinion. I will be back :)

I was really disappointed in my experience at Eclipse. There’s no menu for à la carte items. It’s all buffet. Maybe I don’t eat buffet dinners enough but: — more than 80% of the samples I tried weren’t hot or warm. –The fried dishes(egg rolls, spring rolls, chicken balls, fries, etc) all tasted like they came from M&M and were rubbery in texture. They were cold as well. — The pop drink I ordered was much smaller than I’m used to seeing in restaurants. No one came by to refill it. — they served burnt rice that was very hard. — The lemon chicken was acceptable. — The grilled chicken on skewers was cold but good. — every sweet and sour/BBQ/lemon chicken or pork dish tasted the same. — the desserts(well, at least the«brownie» and the carrot cake) were dry and crusty. I paid $ 37 for two people’s buffet, a pop, and a coffee without tip. I don’t think I will return.

This restaurant is fairly modern, we walked in and were greeted by very polite staff who seated us immediately. The restaurant’s concept is pretty simple — be seated and go get your food! The buffet style restaurant has a nice dish presentation, everything is labelled so you know what you’re putting on your plate — overall it’s nice, I get the sense that someone actually took some time into thinking how this place would end up looking like. There is a bit of everything for everyone when it comes to Eclipse — there is something for meat lovers, vegetarians, pescatarians and there is even some(not much) selection for vegans. There is also quite a bit of sushi selection, it’s nice but not the freshest tasting sushi I’ve ever had. The desserts are pretty plain, but let’s be real — you don’t come here for the desserts! If you’re a fan of asian foods, there is definitely something that will catch your eye in this place, and it’s all you can eat — so come with an empty stomach!
