It appears they are closing this restaurant location. I just called them(April 10, 2015) to make a reservation for next week but they told me the Westboro location was sold and they are closing. They offered Kanata but I will not be traveling to Kanata for my fish restaurant needs — Pelecans on bank is a better bet. FYI

I came with a group(11) on lunchtime. They had a lunch special but the fish and chips were not available. Therefore, everybody had to order from the usual menu. The place was very clean and we were the only ones at lunchtime. Fried zucchini and fried mozzarella were ordered. The homemade zucchini were fresh and crispy and they had a thin layer of fat. I had one bit of the fried mozzarella and they were chewy. Later, I ordered 1lb of mussels because I just couldn’t resist. They were extremely tiny but the soup they bathed in was very creamy. So although tiny, the mussels are worth it! For the fish and chips, I ordered the cob(small portion). To my surprise, the fish was not crispy but rather mushy. The fries were too. This was kinda disappointing but with the tatar sauce and my friends I still managed to enjoy it. On the other hand, I like the coleshaw a lot. To sum up, the service was good. The serving was a slow and I expected more from the fish and chips. However, I would definitively give the fish and chips another chance by choosing another one next time.

I ducked in here at 2:30 looking for a late lunch and they were still serving! We ordered the crispy calamari and fish tacos(both are apps) and the portions were huge! More than enough for two people. Everything tasted fresh and it was very well cooked. The calamari was crispy. The DIY tacos were yummy. The service was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

If you are looking for better than average fish and chips with a variety of other seafood options then this is your place. Setting was more casual than the menu suggested. I had went online to look at their impressive choices and was surprised when we walked in and it felt like a garden variety fish and chips spot with harsh lighting to boot. That was a bit disappointing as I was hoping for a bit more of an upscale Saturday evening. Nevertheless, we stayed and ordered a margarita to start(Saturdays mixed cocktails are $ 5). It was sweet and from a mix so we moved on to wine. My next drink was a cab sauv from France and that was quite good. We had a huge platter of calamari to start that was very nicely done. Light batter and not tough. I ordered a strawberry/spinach salad with goat cheese and again that was quite good so by the time our main courses arrived(beer battered halibut and chips for me and steamed halibut and salad for my dining companion), we were quite enjoying the whole dining experience. My halibut was excellent and the chips were perfect. My friend liked her steamed halibut as well. Overall we were quite full when we left. Thankfully we ordered the small size main course considering the appetizers were quite generous. Service was fast and polite and price was $ 85 before tax and tip.

This Lapointe restaurant is located where the Fratelli was formerly located. The décor has been changed to a warm«maritime» theme. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips with haddock in traditional beer batter, which came with fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. He only ordered the small portion and it was plenty of food. There is «buy one, get the second one half price» special on the Fish and Chips on Sundays. I had the Linguine Pescatore which came with lots of big and fresh scallops, shrimps and mussels tossed in a mushroom Alfredo sauce with chunks of leek. While the dish overall satisfying, I think I will try one of the fish filet dishes at my next visit. I found the pasta a bit overcooked — bearing in mind that I am admittedly picky about pasta. My husband tasted it and thought this was a lovely dish. Overall, the seafood is very fresh, the portions big, the food tasty and the service very friendly. It is not cheap but the quality is there.

We are regulars at the Westboro Lapointe’s. The fish and chips is always just right. A huge portion of tasty, perfectly fried fish and a heap of crisp fries. Even the pickle spear is something special. Local beer on tap is a nice touch, even if the local beer isn’t world class. The menu does have other options but I haven’t been impressed with the fancier fare. Service can be slow and it does get busy. Go early if you can.

Let me start by saying the wait for the food was entirely to long. However it was the best seafood(Halibut) I ever had and the rest of my clan enjoyed there food just as much. The chef is very skilled in preparing fish. Maybe try going a little later in the evening, it seemed cleared out by about 1930. I will absolutely give this restaurant another shot!

I had been here previously before it was taken over by Lapointe’s. If you look at my old review of that place, you will see that the rating has not changed for me. My husband and I came here for dinner. It was«Taco Tuesday» which is all you can eat fish tacos for $ 20. I had the Taco Tuesday special. My husband had a cup of New England clam chowder soup($ 5) and the 1 piece(a.k.a. «small») haddock fish and chips($ 15). So the way the Taco Tuesday special works is you get 1 starch to start(fries, roasted potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes mash) and a plate of taco ingredients(tortilla shells, fish(blackened haddock), lettuce, salsa, guacamole, onions and chili lime mayo). Then you can get additional plates of taco ingredients until you are done. Let’s start with the good: the fries were remarkably good for thick cut fries(I’m a shoestring kind of girl). They weren’t beefsteak fries(like at Kojax — which by the say is yucks), just really thick regular cut fries. They were piping hot(steam was rising out of them as I bit into them), dark but not burnt and lightly salted — almost like chip wagon fries. They were really tasty and the highlight of the meal. Now onto the not-so-good: although the fish had a nice spicy kick to it, it was so salty and the portion each time was pretty small. For my first plate they gave me 4 tortillas. Really? For the amount of fish on the plate, I think 2 tortillas would be more appropriate. I stretched the fish out to fill up 3 tortillas, but it was a stretch. Guacamole was ok. A little too much lime for my liking though. Salsa was nice and thick, not runny at all, which is just the way I like it. The lettuce was romaine lettuce. It was fresh and not wilted. My second time around they brought me only 3 tortillas(probably because they saw that I still had an unused tortilla). My third time around I asked for no tortillas, just the toppings and they were ok with that. My husband really enjoyed his Clam Chowder. And the cup really was just a tiny cup. He also really enjoyed his haddock fish and chips. He got the beer batter(you can also get breaded, or some healthy options like baked, grilled or steamed). The batter was a really bright yellow. Looked a little unusual to me, but my husband said it was fantastic. He also loved the fries. Service was great. The server even asked if I wanted my first round of tacos served at the same time as my husband’s soup. To which I said yes, because who wants to just sit there and stare at someone else eating? I thought that it was nice and thoughtful for them to suggest this. She refilled our waters without us having to ask. She checked up on us appropriately and asked us if we were enjoying our meals. She also asked me if I wanted another round of tacos each time was I halfway done my plate. The décor is more like the Fratelli’s that was at this location previously and less like the original Westboro Fish House before it was taken over by Lapointe’s(kitschy nautical theme). I may return to try something else, but I don’t think I will be having the Taco Tuesday Special again.
