Simply AMAZING food & service! Cocktails were great too! Me and my dining partner ordered a Mojito & Margarita, which were mixed very well. We ordered the Southern Bistro Burger & the Lobster Burger – superb! The brioche buns that they were served on are moist & delicious! Key to a «great» sandwich/burger in my opinion. Our frites were cooked to our perfection, as we requested them to «not» be cooked crispy. Me and my partner would like to personally THANK our waiter Colin for his efforts and exceptional customer service. We are from the U.S. and truly liked his personality & knowledge of the menu. Will return to this place before heading home from vacation. Thanks again for a wonderful dinner.

Good restaurant! We were there for brunch. We had the breakfast poutine, and the prime rib sandwich! The poutine was good but ordinary. Was missing a little something(mostly potatoe hash on a plate). The prim rib sandwich was really good, the meat was tender and juicy, served with fresh ingedients! Their fries with a little side of aromatic mayo were good too!!!

It was great despite the long wait the food was amazing. The flank steak was delicious with the fries. But over all it’s 4 stars because let’s be real, no one wants to wait a long time for their food.

Wow. What a great find. We stumbled upon this place by accident after missing our hotels breakfast by a few minutes. The service is amazing but the food. Omg the food. Had the Montréal eggs benny sub latkes for english muffin. And a side of the homemade sausage… If a spot has ever been hit so good it was with this dish. Amazing. My family all loved their dishes as well and our mimosas were always fresh(were quick). Fantastic. Definitely recommend. A gem in a touristy area.

Lobster poutine… so delicious… everything was so perfect about it… the sauce was amazing… the fries crispy and the lobster fresh… also had the general Tao chicken burger… delicious. loved the poutine so much that next time I’ll just get the appetizer lobster poutine and just eat that as its a huge portion. Great service and super friendly staff… wonderful experience… highly recommended

Two words: lobster poutine. Get it as a side with your steak order for the extra few $. Worth every penny and then some. My steak was very nice too, correct doneness and decent cut. Great service and great evening overall, in an appealing(popular, filled with customers and a bit loud — not a complaint, lively and everybody enjoying themselves) atmosphere.

Luxe was another recommendation to me by a resident of Ottawa and it did not disappoint! I had the lobster poutine and the lobster burger. The poutine was very good and it was a nice change up from your standard poutine as it was drenched in creamy beschamel sauce as opposed to your standard gravy. The lobster was also fresh and delicious. The lobster burger on the other hand, although good was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be surf and turf with beef as well, but maybe I’m just too over-indulgent for my own good? It was basically a glorified lobster roll. I would skip that and go for something on the land grazing animal side. The ambiance is nice and you can people watch as it’s a bit of an open restaurant(you can look out). It is a bit spendy, but it’s a sure and yummy way to hit your per diem if you’re out for work.

Looking for great steaks in Ottawa? This is the place. We had reservations for a busy Friday night and were greeted and seated promptly. The atmosphere inside is lively and has a classy vibe that you wouldn’t expect from the building’s façade. We started by sharing a Caesar salad which had a creamier dressing than usual, but well-presented in individual soup cups, a bit unusual. We were torn between many great entrée descriptions on the menu, but all the steak recommendations prevailed, my wife choosing a rib steak and me the strip. We shared bites of each, and the were both uniquely tasty. We also shared two sides, seasoned mashed potatoes and a mushroom medley, both complimenting the steaks well. We shared a vertical cheesecake as recommended by our server which had a thick graham cracker crust on the bottom, followed by the cheesecake, and then a layer of lemon on top. Outstanding! Only disappointment was that their special, a 48 hour brined prime rib was sold out. But that’s a reason to go back on our next Ottawa visit.

The Luxe does breakfast, lunch, and dinner — all very well, but the best of the three is definitely the breakfast. If you are an eggs benedict fan you need look no further — Luxe has 4 different options and they are all delicious! If you are looking for the standard egg/potatoes/bacon, you can get that too for only 12 $ and it comes with a coffee/tea and amazing egg bread. They’ve also got some amazing breakfast smoothies which are a little bit expensive($ 8) but so so worth it. This is one of my favourite places for breakfast because it’s delicious, reasonably priced, never too busy, and has a great wait staff. Couldn’t ask for more!

Couldn’t fault it. Had the ricotta gnocchi which was super soft, oversized, cheesy, pan fried and delicious. Also had the Reuben sandwich which was great, and the skin — on skinny fries that it came with were just right. Our waiter accommodated our request to be seated outside under the heater.

Great location, right within the market area, and fantastic menu. Loved the décor and atmosphere… sat at a high top in the bar area next to the doors that were open, so we could feel the fresh air and not have to sit under the heat lamps but had a great view and people watching. Food was all really good and drinks were really good… Service was great. Free wifi, though couldn’t get it to work well. We had the lobster poutine, which was amazing… the steak tartar was great, tuna tartar was great, French onion soup was fresh and yummy, steak and fries looked great, though i didn’t try them. Cant complain… really good.

We had a celebration dinner at Luxe for a group of ten. The entrees were solid and very well received. most of us had the 8 oz filet mignon, which when combined with 1 or 2 sides was substantial for any appetite. I started with the oysters which I highly recommend, especially with the apple seasoning. I had the slow cooked lamb, medium, which was divine! I cook a lot of lamb myself and this was tender, juicy, not dry as lamb can often become when not treated with respect. Dark chocolate tart for dessert, rich and satisfying. The appetizer bread took quite a while to come, and was just ‘ok’, therefore the four star rating. Still highly recommend for a group outing.

Luxe Bistro was the last restaurant I tried during my one week business trip in Ottawa. We walked past this restaurant the previous day and my colleague wanted to try it, so we decided to come here the following day. Locating right at the heart of ByWard Market, it was pretty lively and busy during a weeknight. I could only imagine how busy the street would be during the day and on weekends. Environment was beautiful and the patio was nicely decorated, although the view is facing the parking lot and we did get disturbed by a person asking for change during my dining experience. If you want a peaceful dinner, I would recommend staying away from the patio. Food was decent, I ordered the 14 oz Boneless Rib at medium rare and the portion was good, although the steak was a little overcooked than what I requested, but it was still very juicy and seasoned well. As every steak comes with a side, I ordered the Gnocchi(potato) poutine as a side and the Gnocchi was delicious! But it was quite filling so I didn’t finish it. The price is reasonable and I will give this restaurant a solid 4, given the environment, the service and the decent food they serve!

Great food, great service! Nice mood lighting for a romantic meal. Make sure to make a reservation or you might end up at a less desirable table. Even the less desirable table is nice anyways. Nice youngish vibe, which was nice because lots of nicer places in the area had a lot of grayhairs in pantsuits :)

I went to Luxe a couple of times over the past decade and the great service was always what struck me. I then heard they had introduced a «late night menu» to attract a younger crowd. I have been 3 times in as many weeks, everything on the late night menu is $ 10 and I haven’t been disjointed in the Steak tacos, the other tacos(I forget what kind they were) the pulled pork sliders were good(but not as good as the tacos or the-) Burger was great and the fries(less than$ 10) were cooked perfectly too! I had the«coffee and donughts» dessert, it was a mocha flavored crème brûlée meets mouse with 3 mini tasty donughts on the side. Read other reviews about the restuarant, i just wanted to give a shout out the great late night menu they introduced. I know it runs on Friday and Saturday and it starts at 10:30pm I would also have to give it a single $ for the price point on the late night menu.

This was the last place the Hubster and I hit on our bar crawl. It wasn’t very busy, as it was midnight and this place is more of a restaurant. The cocktails I ordered were INCREDIBLY delicious, but kind of pricy. The servers were fantastic and the ambience was quite upscale(well, compared to the pubs we were hitting earlier). Can’t speak about the food, but this was a great spot to grab some drinks.

Note finale: 13⁄20 … Bien fréquenté dans quartier branché, bon, très bon, mais cher très cher!

Visiting Ottawa this past weekend with a group of 8 friends, we set out in search of a place for lunch. We wandered up Sparks Street and into the market. No seating to be found. We came across Luxe, and am I glad we did! Our server, Owen, was great — he was friendly and polite, and just the right amount of attentive. The food was amazing. Although the menu was only one page, they had a wide range of items, and enough selection to suit everyone’s taste in our group. I had a roast chicken sandwich, which was delicious — you could really taste the brie! I’m not sure why anyone would think this place pretentious. It was pretty classy, with really nice ambiance and beautifully presented food — so it was a pleasant surprise to notice the servers were wearing jeans behind their aprons. It said to me that it’s a fancy place that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I’ll definitely be back!

So I’m back in Ottawa for a conference, and 14 of us go to Luxe for dinner. 11 guys and 3 women(who were very good sports). I suggested Luxe since I had enjoyed it so much last May, and I figured that steak(plus some seafood) would appeal to the greatest number of people. My mistake. I can’t speak for the others, but this time the NY strip was overcooked, had a thick strip of gristle, and arrived lukewarm. At By Ward Market prices? Forget it. On the upside, the atmosphere was pleasant and football was on the TV in the bar. The waiter was fine with 14 separate checks. Have any other non-Canadians noticed that when Canadian Unilocalers like a restaurant, they often write that it «did not disappoint»? I’m going to write this in English as clear as a lake in upper Ontario: Luxe disappointed.
