This was the second time I have been to this location and I was pretty impressed. It was a Tuesday night at 7pm and the restaurant was surprisingly full, so we were subject to a 30-minute wait, but we settled for the patio which had a couple tables left. I found the patio to be very noisy though! Maybe it’s the crowd that came last night. Maybe it was the wine… Anyway all three of us enjoyed our drinks meals very much. We were given freshly baked sourdough bread to start, and it was so good. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, but I found service to be very slow. We were otherwise very satisfied with our experience.

I was invited by my relatives on a very busy Saturday. They were visiting from Montréal and were travelling with children and grandparents, we were a total of 10 people. Most restaurants were reluctant to accommodate 10 people which included two little girls but The Keg swiftly took us on board and prepped our table. After being seated the waiter promptly came to give us our menus. He gave us enough time to choose of dishes and drinks. He also gave good explanations on dishes and gave good recommendations. The fried calamari entrée was crunchy and tasty, and the top sirloin that I ordered was exactly how I asked it to be cooked. Overall great experience, but in my personal opinion they should improve on the light. I guess the low lights are for ‘atmosphere’ but a dining experience without really seeing what you are eating isn’t that pleasant. Just a little more light would be perf.

Just went here for dinner and we loved it. Everything my group ordered was delicious. I had the tuna tacos and would definitely order them again. We didn’t have to wait for a table and our waitress was very helpful and friendly.

The Keg has the most consistently excellent food and service in all of the locations I visit in Canada. This location was no different. We sat at the bar o a Friday night and were served by Shannon. She took incredibly good care of us and is super friendly. I typically don’t deviate in my menu choice: the bone-in ribeye(Chicago style, medium rare) is so good I nearly pick up the bone and gnaw on it… but I didn’t. Business dinner. I can’t ups go on, but I won’t. The Keg gets my highest recommendation; anywhere. Bön apatite.

This was my best experience at the Keg — or possibly at any restaurant ever. A perfect 5 stars! The excellent service and delicious food, along with the typical Keg atmosphere and friendliness of the staff contributed to a perfect night out. My fiancé and myself decided to go downtown Ottawa for a spur of the moment dinner date — and of course The Keg was one of the top picks. We’ve been to other locations before, but this was our first time at this particular one. When we got in, we got seated right away(no waiting time) and got a table where we were away from the crowd — our own little private corner if you will. The waiter was excellent and on point — the service was the best I have ever received by far. The food(we both got a steak), was delicious. If you ever go to the Keg and order something other than a steak, you’re cheating yourself! Either way, loved the experience, the food, and the service. Overall, would definitely recommend to a friend and will be back next time for our next dinner night out.

So me and a buddy went in for a dinner on Saturday night. They do not accept reservations for Saturday night and the wait was over 45 minutes. The customer service is excellent as they have personal to assist in reserving waiting directing you to the table and for placing the order. Not really necessary but its one of the fact maybe why they are so over priced. I ordered the new york steak. Costs over 40 $ with taxes and stuff. The food taste wise is great. No complaints. I’ve had better steaks though. But the portion is ridiculously small for the price you pay. The sides is also way too small. So beware of the portion as that ain’t justice to the price you pay.

I was impressed with the service and customer attention at this location. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was good quality and the way we expected. We arrived at this place on a Wednesday evening and while the outside of the restaurant seemed barren and devoid of life around 9pm, the inside was warm and welcoming. We were promptly seated and the server gave us some time with the menu before asking for drinks. Minor issue here, the glass in which my friend’s brandy was served had some water drops already. This was fixed and he received a new one quite quickly. We ordered two steak dishes(7oz and 8oz), one seas food salad and one calamari appetizer. I was impressed with the size of the dishes since many places skimp on the food and add more flair. The calamari appetizer was great and filling, while the steaks were cooked to our liking. On a side note, our server was well versed in his knowledge of meats, their sources, their pairings and ability to describe coming levels. In fact, he convinced one of us to grab the special because of his excellent describing skills. We arrived late and we’re probably the last to leave, however throughout the entire experience, we never felt rushed or pressured. I enjoyed this experience and will return.

I got the medium-well strip loin steak thinking that it would be juicy, yet it was pretty dry. We also ordered shrimps, it was served in a fairly good sized cup, but there were only six normal sized shrimps. The garlic shrimps was a good choice taste-wise.

Love at first sight with the immaculate customer service. They had a long-ish wait but allowed us to enjoy some drinks at the bar while we waited. It was a summer evening and the patio seating was absolutely a must I guess. It’s a steakhouse so they didn’t have a bunch of draft beer selections. But we still went ahead and ordered some Canadian beers. It turned out well. Within about 15 – 20 minutes we were greeted by the waitress and were shown to the table. The server was amazingly excited to explain the options. The Escargot we got was possibly the best one we’ve had. The spices and everything reminded us of the Indian Pav-bhajji without the spicy hotness. The steak cut selection was well diversified and had plethora of options to choose from. Especially the portion sizes which matters a lot to me as I can’t eat a lot of meat at the same time. Overall, impressive experience. Must visit again if and when we visit Ottawa.

I’ll just say… This was the first steak I had since coming out of my vegetarianism. Of course it was different but I appreciated it all the same :)! With that being said, my review commences! So our reservation was a late one since I finished work not too long before that and I had been coerced into having steak that date night– and we were met with amazing service. The main concern for us was that we wanted to make sure that we weren’t a hassle for the kitchen– given they begin to close its doors around 10– but WEMADEIT. I didn’t really make the biggest decisions as I let my boyfriend more or less direct me with help from our server– and we both ended up going for the Manhattan steak. BEHOLD! The most steakiest steak flavour to exist! Or so I was told ;) and it was: P aha The wine was amazing though. He had something as did I. But sadly I don’t remember the names :(just that both types were delicious. I’ll have to ask him what the red wine was! We ended up getting a little customized desert plate afterwards with a bit of cheese cake and brownie. Mm… Just too good. All in all I really did enjoy my reintroduction to steak and I wouldn’t have spent the occasion with anyone or anywhere else. Much love.

This Keg will delight. Steaks were exceptional, as expected, but the service… wow. The servers seem determined to make sure you are happy with your experience. Just the right amount of attentiveness without being obtrusive, and help was never far if anyone at our table of six needed anything at all. Really impressed, highly recommend.

if youre a prime rib fan, and in the Ottawa area, you NEED to coem to Keg. a 14oz prime rib(their specialty) is marinated for 24 hours, then cooked to perfection. its juicy, flavorful, and honestly, can do without Au Jus sauce and Horseradish. I ordered that, and Wife ordered the mushroom stuffed chicken, both amazing. we also had the roasted Cheese for appetizer, and garlic cheese bread. all of it was magical. 2 thumbs up! 4 stars, and a pot belly full of Yummy! #grublife #foodporn

I was very thankful for my server, JP. He was the one who made the meal awesome. I ordered the prime rib, and it was just okay. I had had better. In the course of JP checking on me, he saw that while I wasn’t complaining, I wasn’t ecstatic. He made sure I was, bringing me a piece from another roast to compare, and eventually insisting on replacing the first one entirely. The second one was delicious. And his thoughtful warning about the potency of the horseradish was really appreciated and undoubtedly saved me from a bad few seconds of horseradish overload. Great job, JP. You’re really good at what you do. Thanks to manager Llewellyn(sp?) for sharing some cool insight into restaurant management. After this trip to The Keg, I left very happy, food-wise, and smarter. How often does that happen?

I’ve been to the keg a number of times and it has not disappointed yet its without a doubt the best steakhouse I’ve been to yet! I normally get the filet mignon medium rare with the garlic mashed potatoes and i have a cesar salad appetizer. The salad is big so you will not be starving when waiting for your steak. The service is always exceptional, I’ve never had to say excuse me can i have a refill on my water or anything like that. I love the atmosphere at the keg its great, its crowded sometimes but that’s normal for a great steakhouse. If your going here, instead of the bread with butter, GETTHE3CHEESEBUTTER it’s mouth watering good !!! Just try not to fill up on it or you wont be able to finish your steak lol

The Keg did not disappoint for a lovely dinner out. I can’t say it was the best steakhouse I have ever been to, but I think it’s the best steak to get in the market area. I feel like I got exactly what I expected. Service was friendly and professional. It was Friday night and the place was busy but only about a 20 minute wait.

The prime rib was exceptional! I think it is on par with Lawry’s. I also had the twice baked potatoes, very flavorful. I went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. I had to sit at the bar, but the service was very good! I highly recommend this as a great date destination if you are already in the area! Enjoy!

Came here for my birthday as a date. Jordan the server was extremely professional and helpful without being pushy. He gets aN A+++. The steak was nice and juicy — and perfectly cooked as asked(medium rare). Speedy service with a smile even though they were very very busy. I would stay away from the ribs as they were quite dry and a little burnt on the top. Other than that, everything was great with amazing service. I leave as a happy camper !
