The best casual vegetarian restaurant in Ottawa we’ve tried so far. Eggplant vegetable curry special with mung bean rice tasted so homey. Amazing desserts and chai too. Not cheap but you pay for the quality and the ambiance.

The mashed potatoes topped with creamy cheddar and broccoli is heavenly and so filling! I’ll absolutely be ordering this again when I dine here next. The bliss burger is also really good, although the patty is lacking a tiny bit in flavour. Still, overall such a delicious meal. I’ll have to get a piece of pumpkin pie next time since the desserts seem to garner such praise.

I was tempted not to write a review at all in order to minimize publicizing this amazing restaurant, but that, I suppose, would be rather selfish. I am sad to say that it took me 2 years to finally visit this vegetarian restaurant that is mere minutes from my home. Had I known it was so good I would have over 50 check ins by now! This restaurant has a kitschy, calm atmosphere with ambient music and quaint décor. It is perfect for a quiet meal at the end of a busy day, perhaps after unwinding at yoga or before going to see a play. The menu has a plethora of options, but i went for the daily special which was a vegan ‘tuna’ salad and beet-purée. It was divine! I gobbled it all up in minutes and washed it down with the best chai tea I’ve had in Ottawa. I think it might have rosewater in it, I’m not sure, but it had a special twist that I haven’t tasted in chai before. The staff are very friendly, the food comes quickly, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large. I am going to come back here over and over again!

Clearly a popular vegetarian restaurant. I had a veggie burger, which was delicious.

Good selection of vegan/gluten-free desserts. Fantastic soups. Their tofu and spinach samosas(served with their delicious tomato chutney) are fantastic and keep me coming back. Other menu items are a bit generic and are therefore not worth their prices. Prices are ok for the serving sizes.

Fantastic little restaurant! The food was amazing and the staffs were very friendly! Take out and dine-in available as well as other snacks and fresh juices. I found out while ordering that you’re able to combine two dishes, so they can do a half-half dish as well! The chocolate cake was amazing! Highly recommend!

I’ve eaten at a lot of Sri Chinmoy restaurants and this one was my least favorite. The dish I wanted was on the website menu but not on the real menu. I settled for the broccoli and cheddar on brown rice. It was exceedingly bland. There was no salt on the table. I found some on another shelf across the room. It wasn’t very cheddary and the rice wasn’t seasoned in any way. The broccoli was the best part. If it were $ 6 I might have rated it higher but there is no justification for what was served at $ 9. There is no signage indicating if you seat yourself or wait to be seated. It turns out you order at the counter and they will bring you the food. I had the chocolate cheesecake after my main course. It was actually really good. It has a strong soy aftertaste, though, so if you aren’t used to vegan baking it might not be your cup of tea.

Ate here for the first time today — I ordered the lentil dhal on top of sweet potatoes and the taste certainly did not disappoint! The sweet potatoes and the dhal were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of subtle seasonings. The coconut cheesecake was to die for. It was filling and especially delicious. I would certainly recommend both dishes. The samosas looked amazing as well, and although I did not order one, I will likely do so next time I visit the area. Service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy — slightly on the small and cramped side, but we had no trouble finding a table despite the fact that it was lunch hour. The one small complaint that I have with the place is that the food that I received was somewhat«lukewarm» instead of piping hot, which is how I prefer my food. However, overall, I would likely return here again in the future.

An absolute oasis in the middle of Ottawa. Genuinely good people and superbly delicious food. I would encourage vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike to try there various dishes!

Great made-at-home tasting food with a really unique and varied menu. I found myself eating at this place regularly when I visited Ottawa. Its small and cozy — a nice break from the fast-food places. And the soups there are really, really good.

Ah, Painted Potato… I mean, Perfection Satisfaction! I have been coming here since 15 years ago or so, when this was called Painted Potato. My mom would take the three of us here and we would always order the mashed potato with cheese and broccoli. I came recently since, I now live in Vancouver, and they still have the dish! I was ecstatic! The curries, samosas and dessert are also delicious and at a very good price for the quality and FLAVOURS. I have a high respect for the people of Perfection Satisfaction — they have been creating delicious and healthy foods for a very long time(before the hype) and deserve the credit.

Sometimes I go to a restaurant, and after a few bites I say«yep, I’m officially going to become a regular here.» That was the deal for me. I have been loving this place the last few days. I am less than a block away from this unique, fantastic, vegetarian restaurant. This place is instantly comforting when you walk in. The décor reminds me of someone’s cozy kitchen. The employees are Sri Chinmoy devotees, they wear saris and are extremely polite and soft spoken, they contribute to the relaxing, comforting atmosphere. The religious affiliation bothers some people judging by the comments but I don’t really care. The food, ok, the food… It is so good. I’ve had a few different things so I’m going to give each food item a rating. Broccoli cheddar sauce over potatoes — 5/5, my favorite thing thus far. The cheese sauce is extremely rich, creamy and flavourful, drooool. Three bean chili — 3/5, I don’t think its overly spectacular on its own but combined with the broccoli cheese cheddar sauce it is fantastic. Mixed veggies and tofu in tamari ginger sauce — 4/5, really flavourful, delicious dish. I like it with their hot sauce. Red lentil soup — 5/5, fantastic, delicious, intensely flavourful and a bit spicy. Filling too! a piece of bread and a bowl of soup will run you about $ 5 and its a surprisingly hearty lunch. Mississippi mud fudge cake — 4.5÷5, amazing. Not overly sweet and its made with coffee… it satisfies your sweet tooth without being overwhelming. Pomegranate hibiscus tea with chia seeds 5⁄5 — I discovered I like chia seeds. Who knew? This is an amazing, perfect drink. I usually find pomegranate overwhelming but this was a really nice balance, the pomegranate taste wasn’t overwhelming, and the hibiscus added a nice floral note, delish! A meal here is about $ 7 – 10, and you’ll walk out full. All in all, this is just a great place to get some reasonably priced, flavourful food!

You order from a counter, and the cashier was friendly although she forgot about my chai tea so after about 10 mins we went up to ask for it but she was very nice about it. Mango lassi, and other goodies, are available from their«take out» fridge beside the cashier. Nice to see the samosas are offered as both baked and fried — we had one of each. They were large, and average tasting but the dipping sauce was excellent. The Tofu Tamari was supposed to have ginger and lemon but the tamari just overpowered everything and it was too salty even with the brown rice. The Chickpea Vegetable Curry is listed mild and it is VERY mild, too timid for our liking(and it had eggplant in it as well). The vegan cheesecake was more like a mouse cake than a cheesecake, still tasty tho. Seating is quite cozy but the capacity seems adequate as there was one table left when we arrived, and no queue for tables when we left. However, because the tables are very close together, this place is less suitable for romantic/private conversations. While everything was okay, nothing we tried beckoned us to make a return trip.

My friends and one family member thinks I’m nuts for recommending this place, after all they specialize in potato-based dishes and almost nothing but. Still… everything is YUMmy! And well-made, I feel so guilt-free after any dish(except maybe their baked potato with poutine dressing, only because it’s a bit too salty for my liking). I don’t really care, though, I’ll be going in the future as many times as I can. Vegetarian establishment, with quite a few saucy dressing choices for their baked or mashed taters. Actually, if you’d rather, you can instead get a sweet potato or brown rice as the base. Filling, colourful salads, and _the_best lentil soup in Ottawa… I liked their soup so much, that I tried to make it at home… Located just minutes on foot from the University of Ottawa, and Rideau Centre. ~~~ There’s also a lot of influence from spiritual leader Sri Chimnoy. This restaurant relates to another Sri Chimnoy influenced one in Byward Market, the Peace Garden. ~~ You’ll find the food here tasty, the prices fair. You don’t have to be a health nut, spiritual follower, or veg*n to eat here, just open to having a nice meal! p. s. The original name of this restaurant is… The Painted Potato. One glance at their menu, and you’ll find out why that name still applies.

Perfection Satisfaction Promise is a sit-down restaurant serving vegetarian and vegan fare. The restaurant is located in Sandy Hill, facing the University of Ottawa’s campus. Perfection serves casual Canadian and Indian/Indian inspired dishes. The restaurant itself is located in a basement, which gives it a very comfortable feel, though when full the restaurant does feel very cramped. You can expect the restaurant full for weekday lunches and weekend dinners. The food served is generally quite delicious. Perfection offers soups, salads, samosas, burgers, and painted potatoes. The food isn’t spectacular, but is a better and healthier than traditional pub fare. They also offer delicious vegan cheesecake. One of the big criticisms of Perfection has nothing to do with the food but rather the administration of the restaurant. The restaurant is run by members of the Sri Chimnoy organization. The employees don full saris when serving customers. Profits from the restaurant are given to this organisation, which has been sometimes labelled a cult. Photos of the Sri Chimnoy can be found all over Perfection’s walls. Detractors have questioned whether the employees are free will to forfeit their salary for the sake of the organisation. If you’re able to get past the religious aspects of Perfection Satisfaction Promise, it offers a nice alternative to fried, reheated and unhealthy dishes normally served near the University.

So after a long flight I have made it back here the cramped seating area is full of a interesting cross of people all enjoying the food, atmosphere and company. The food is really good i am enjoying the vegetable chile with a few side dishes and if the trip I am on was not so short I would be back, oh well a future trip then.

First of all, that is one mouthful of a name over there! From now on, I’ll refer to it as PSPVR. Ok, so PSPVR is not what you expect when you walk into a calm, sky blue roomy that is airy. There’s a fridge of sandwiches, samosas and other treats that they can warm for you as well as various drinks. There is also a menu of larger meals that they can whip up fresh for you. My friend and I were going for a light breakfast so we spit one order of the baked samosas and a sandwich, warmed and panini pressed respectively. The samosas were delicious and came with a nice sauce to cut the small spiciness. The sandwich was very fresh and full of melty cheese but also, nothing very adventurous or OMG. She cut it very unevenly for us to share but we figured it out. At PSPVR, the coffee and food is brought to the table with the fixings. Water is in a jug on a table with slices of cucumber in it. Small cups! The people that work here all wear Indian Sari’s, which is a bit odd to see that early in the morning but also calming? Also, watch out because it’s quite a maze to get to the washrooms. Anywho, the bill came to around 12 dollars and we both left feeling quiet satisfied! Keep your eyes peeled; you might miss it.

This restaurant is run by devotees of the late guru Sri Chinmoy, and a cult-like atmosphere is noticeable in the large photos of the guru, the paintings done by the guru, and the framed sayings of the guru that decorate the walls of this tiny space. The food is fully vegetarian, inexpensive, and generously-portioned. We had three-bean chili and red lentil dal, each served on a split baked potato. The dal was very lightly spiced, so that I found it a little bit bland(I’m not sure about the chili, but it was all gone at the end of the meal!) The total for dinner, including two mango juices and an enormous date square(shared for dessert), came to about $ 22 Canadian before tip. My four-star rating was given because — even in a city the size of Ottawa — vegetarian restaurants are not that common, and it’s nice to go somewhere and not have to have a «veggie burger» for dinner. The staff were friendly but kind of aloof(otherworldly?), which was fine with me.

I have always loved this restaurant for its food, service and ambiance. Every time I go I get the painted potatoes. There are so many options of what sauces or veggies to put on the top and all of them are delicious. The small size is plenty for me and not expensive. A must have here is one of their chai lattes, they are so flavouful. Desserts are very hard to choose between. They have really big vegan date squares, but there is also an amazing dense vegan chocolate cake. If you want something small there are little cookies that you can take out with you. I usually get the date square, but a friend brought a chocolate cake to my dinner party the other night and I have been thinking about it ever since! The service here are great, all the workers have a very calm, zen-like and serene attitude. It is really nice to study or relax here.
