I am a very big chocolate fan and I come here for my sweet treats. The fudge is great and tasty. I saw they do here caramel apples, they look really juicy. I highly recommend this place to fill you sweet tooth.

As the Canadian Franchisor I wanted to clear up the old post(06/10/2009). Rocky Mountain was started in Durango Colorado but ALL of the Canadian stores are owned and operated by Canadians. The Canadian Franchisor is based in Vancouver and has been around since opening in Whistler in 1988. Although we trade under the US name Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, the stores and company, and products are Canadian!

When I went here, I thought«cool, a Canadian chocolate company!» I asked the staff where the company was based and they said B.C. Well, they lied. This company was founded in Colorado!!! Lies aside, they make maple flavored confectionaries here which are not available in the Rocky Mountain online store. When I stopped here, they had just finished a batch of maple walnut brittle. They let me taste a fresh sample and it was delicious. I had them bag up a batch which I sent to my mom. I also bought a bag of maple caramel popcorn for a friend of mine who loves maple syrup. Overall, a great experience except for the workers being confused(ahem) about their company’s origins.

This is a delicious and tantalizingly pretty chocolatier. The store is packed with chocolate goodies, including huge chocolate decorated moulds that often correspond with the season and make you giddy like a kid. Their prices are steep, but the quality if often worth it, as long as you don’t make it a habit of always coming here. It’s a great place to go for a sporadic gift for your favourite chocolate lover and some Rocky Mountain chocolates also make great gift garnishes.

If there was one thing I would give up beer for… okay, two things I would give up beer for, one of them would be chocolate. I love chocolate and try to include it in my daily food pyramid. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Byward Market was like Nirvana to me. They had all kinds of chocolate and chocolate-dipped delights — chocolate cashews, chocolate truffles, chocolate peanuts. And, in keeping with the season, they had a ton of chocolate Halloween goodies. They even had(almost) full-sized jack o’lanterns. Some of their merchandise is prepacked elsewhere, but the staff assured me that much of it is made and decorated right on the premises. Holy fresh chocolate, Batman! The prices were pricey, but the market is a tourist-ish area and the products were OUTSTANDING!

As a chocolate lover, I couldn’t miss this sweet factory in the middle of the city’s Byward market. As the ‘factory’ moniker suggests, they make chocolates right there in front of you! Being a chocolate afficianado, however, I was somewhat disappointed by the choice and quality. The dipped cones and apple chocolate were good, but there seemed to be little else to choose from. Perhaps it was heightened expectations, or the slightly inattentive service, but the overall expression I got was that this place has not yet reached its potential. If you love the cocao, it’s still worth a visit, though!
