Early morning flights are always difficult, so I was very pleased to find that the US terminal of the Ottawa airport is home to a bar that serves a decent hot breakfast. Airpots always seem overpriced, and after a quick glance over the other patrons meals I could see that the portion sizes were quite big, so I opted for the children’s breakfast. Slightly cheaper and still plenty of food for me: 4 strips of bacon, an english muffin, 1 fried egg, and hash browns. The space is decorated with quite a modern theme but still quite cozy, and the staff(which appears to be two people — one server and one chef) were very attentive and pleasant. I had some time to spare so I slowly enjoyed my meal and never once felt pressure to get moving; it was not particularly busy. If I find myself in the US terminal again soon, I will gladly visit this establishment again. Hopefully next time it wont be quite so early.

If there are as many fruit flies in the real Senate chambers as there are at this Senate chambers, I never want to be a Canadian politician. I spent more time swatting these pesky, mosquito-sized critters away than I did eating my poutine, which was mediocre at best given the clearly frozen fries. At least the beer was cold and reasonably priced for an airport, especially considering this is the only bar option past the security checkpoint. Molson bottles were under $ 6. At the end of the day, because this is your only choice, they don’t need to offer quality and they know it. Oh, and they close at 7:00.
