Exceptional food paired with exceptional service. I was very impressed with everything they had to offer, Keep up the great work!

Absolutely fabulous! Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Food and drinks were perfect. This restaurant has a very relaxed vibe and was not pretentious at all.

Excellent! We had great service, wonderful, innovative, healthy food and tasty, decently priced wine. Only in Ottawa can you make a reservation for a restaurant of this quality a day before you want to go. If this was TO they’d be booked weeks in advance. We shared oysters, which were sublime, especially the raspberry point from PEI. We had tuna crudo which was beautiful; delicate and fresh. The smoked cod with eggs, again, delicious, and a dish with beets and a velvety soft white cheese. The play of flavours was divine. We shared a poached orange stuffed with a chocolate semifreddo and drizzled with crème anglais. All this and 4 glasses of a nice French Viognier was $ 114, well worth the price. Will I be returning? Damn right!(PS Despite the quality of the food the place has a casual neighbourhood feel to it, which we prefer to formal.)

Food 5⁄5 décor 5⁄5 staff&service 5⁄5 A seafood lover’s paradise! The menus are seasonal so the ingredients are always fresh, enjoy your meal while you’re there because you might never see it again ;) Reservations are highly recommended because the place gets packed by 8pm 1. Albacore Tuna Crudo with lemon, truffle oil, puffed rice, and cilantro(16 $) 2. Small braised hen agnolotti with beech mushrooms, rosemary, and butter(11 $/22 $ for full plate) 3. Bay scallop crudo with serrano chili, and granny smith apple(16 $) 4. Chargrilled brocolli with cashew cheese, soffritto, and sesame(12 $) 5. Roasted carrots with strained yogurt, sunflower seeds, trout roe, and dill(9 $) 6. Small Pumpkin Scarpinocc with fried brussel leaves, heart nuts, and brown butter(11 $/22 $ for full plate) 7. Semi-Freddo, with espresso cream, candied peanuts, and salted caramel(8 $) — if you’e going to choose one dessert, go for that one, it’s salty and sweet perfection. It was just the two of us, we had 2 cocktails, 1 espresso, 1 cappuccino, and all the plates you see above. With tax and tip our total bill was about 140 $. We left the restaurant with very full bellies. The next time we are in town, we will be going back. I’m writting this review and still drooling over the food we had.

I have one word for our experience at Supply and Demand — Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! That’s right, it was extraordinarily good and wonderful and we give it 5 stars all the way! Way to go Supply and Demand! For a long time we have been wanting to try this restaurant out and finally had the opportunity last Saturday evening. First of all, I have to tell you that we loved the ambience. Kinda dark, kinda moody, kinda candle lighty, kinda romantic, kinda social, kinda upscale, kinda casual all wrapped into one. LOVELY! Very friendly servers and staff who gave a terrific level of service from beginning to end. I probably could go on for several paragraphs about the food but I’ll do my best to sum it: FRESH, DELICIOUS, QUALITY, CHEFINSPIRED&PLENTIFUL. We can’t wait to go back. We started with trying a plate of the fresh oysters. Three different kinds! Omigoodness, I am drooling typing this in. So delicious. I can’t say enough about the freshness. And there were three different sauces to gently add to each and they added a wow factor. Then we had the beef tartare, it came with hand made chips. YUMMY! YUMMY! We always try beef tartare when its offered at a restaurant and have to say, to date this one is right up there, if not the best we’ve had! We also had the much talked about kale salad — order it, you’ll be glad you did. Our mains included the squid pasta and salmon which were both very good but I have to tell you, next time, if available I’ll be ordering more oysters, kale and/or tartare all the way! I am a huge dessert lover and didn’t order any this time around only because we were so stuffed from trying everything else! Next time for sure. Can’t wait to go back and highly recommend!

A lovely place! It has a nice atmosphere without feeling toooo hipster. The bread with the bacon butter was so moist and savory. I ordered the smaller sized squid ink spaghetti with the grilled carrots. The pasta was very good, I’m not a huge pasta person but even I thought it was very good. The carrots were even better, the yogurt mixed well with the caramelized flavor in the roasted carrots. My friend ordered the chicken, and it was so juicy. I would never usually order the chicken breast because they’re usually too plain but it was so juicy and the skin had such great spices on it I would consider it! Overall really nice experience.

THEBEST! This is the ultimate dining experience, you might not want to leave. From the food to the service to the comfortable, but romantic atmosphere! Supply and Demand is one of my favourite restaurants. Their meals are creative and beautifully crafted and above all FRESH and delicious! I always go with one of their handmade pastas and the oysters! Absolutely delicious, great drinks as well! Their dessert is also quite amazing. Go with the frozen lemon/earl grey cream option and you won’t regret it! I highly recommend this place. The menu changes slightly each day so you can keep coming back for more.

Everytime I go to Supply and Demand I remember why food is my religion. The creativity, the flavour and the service is consistently on point. I honestly cannot praise this place enough! After my first visit last year, the tuna crudo haunted me for weeks. I found myself having those intense, pounding-heart-beat flashbacks, like you see in the movies when the protagonist is remembering a sexy affair… Except, in real life, I am drooling over raw tuna. So light and fresh; a little bit of sunshine in your mouth. *sigh* I have returned to Supply & Demand over and over and just continue to add new items to my original order. Unable to pass up my favourites, but desperate to try every new dish as well. Tuna or Scallop Crudo, Kale Salad, Duck Tartare, a half serving of either of their pastas, their BBQ Squid & Chicken(OMG)…and on my most recent visit this week… a mindblowing Trout with Asparagus, Almonds and Hollandaise sauce. YUM! I do not generally have a sweet tooth, however I have somehow found a way to try(and relish every morsel of) all of their desserts. They have turned me to the dark side. **A warning. You will be full by the end of your dinner… but if you see Chocolate and Peanut butter on any of their dessert items — just order it. ORDERITNOW! Stick a fork in me, pull up the wheelbarrow, I’m done… until my 9pm rsvp tonight, then I will be back for more! Don’t judge, I worked hard today! I deserve something beautiful :) xo

WOW. Okay, so to start off, let me be clear that my aunt had been raving this kale salad all week! I happen to love kale– was like, this place sounds wicked! Aunt surprises me and says might as well go get some of that kale salad(because to be honest– she was craving it ever since she first tried it a few weeks back– and now I know why) Let me start off by saying– all my other reviews need to be knocked down a notch for the comparison to this place! How? Well,… At first when you walk in, you know– you’re like–«oh, it’s not all that bad looking– they’ve got a thing for seahorses! I could swing with that!» Service was this really nice cool chick: D she did a great job– not overly anxious or tardy(good job as it’s hard to be on the edge of that knife) The little things like their menus and bill pockets are totally adorable and very simple yet catchy(loved that!) But wow. Their food was to die for! Okay– I’m a vegetarian, so to begin with, the place isn’t catered specifically to us, but do they ever excel in what they offer(they do have various plates available where modifications can be made– the chef is such a doll((he/she stole my heart))) the menu itself is made(by the looks of things) by inspiration of the chef– and certain plates(like their lovely and oh so delicious kale salad) stay around pretty neat year long(if I’m not mistaken ;)). My aunt will vouch for my reaction to the food. Kale salad each(which btw– is super fresh crispy leaves covered in a very thin yet succulent Caesar and loads of grated parmigiana((I think?))) cheese) and our mains that we shared were these lovely beets(that had a balsamic sauce, feta cheese, onion) and pasta dish(caramella pasta with this SOGOOD cheese within) covered in a wine like sauce(?). I stopped every thing I was doing– thought processes halted, conversation stopped– nada. My aunt wanted to take a picture of my face lol! But what nearly made me cry was the«Apple pie»(which happy belated PI day of the century to you all)! And by all means– I do mean I teared up, it was that good. This thing is like a pizza pocket pouch that was enrobed in cinnamon/brown sugar, was oozing brown sauce and had a dollop of sour cream ice cream on it… OMG The end. My life goals are complete.

We finally made it to Supply and Demand for a birthday dinner this past week after at least a year of intending to stop in sometime soon — we weren’t disappointed! The drink menu has solid cocktails — I had a caesar, since I’ve been hearing about it. The drink itself was solid, but not outstanding, but I got a kick out of it because it’s one of these over-garnished caesars, coming with pickled beans, chorizo, and an oyster! My partner had a very tasty maple bourbon cocktail, and the rest of the drinks looked tasty enough that we schemed to try to create them when we got home. There was also a good selection of wine by the glass and a nice beer list featuring lots of local craft brews. And then, the food: The fresh bread that came to the table was a treat — my dining partner couldn’t say enough about it — chewy, flavourful pull-apart rolls with a flavoured butter. After a helpful explanation of the menu from our server, we decided that ordering smaller plates for sharing was the way to go for us, but larger entrees were available, too. I’d been reading about the albacore tuna for years, so we had to have that, and it didn’t disappoint. The puffed rice was just the right touch to go with a very solid raw tuna dish. The real star of our meal, though, was a hot smoked trout and devilled eggs dish that came with pickles, fresh potato chips, and crème fraîche. The trout on its own was delicious. The combination of crème, chips, and trout was just to die for. The more acidic devilled eggs and pickles provided a nice balance to the dish — it reminded me of an upscale ploughman’s lunch. We also ordered roasted carrots, which sounds tame, but the combination of those carrots with yogurt, trout roe, and sunflower seeds was not only delicious and different, but fun to eat. The mushroom agnolotti, which is sort of like an extra-stuffed, folded ravioli(I had to ask), was bursting with flavourful mushrooms that went perfectly with the crispy pancetta. All pasta is made fresh in house every day. By this point, we were stuffed, but we went for dessert and coffee anyway. We had the fried apple pie with sour cream ice cream(yum) and the chocolate, salted caramel, and whipped peanut butter tartufo(double yum). The coffee was also very tasty. As for price, it’s not cheap. all the small plates were over $ 10, though only the trout was over $ 20 — and it was quite a bit bigger. Desserts came in at $ 8 each, and entrees were all over $ 20 but under $ 35. If you weren’t starving and skipped dessert, you could keep this to a $$$ meal, but with our overindulgence and drinks we pushed it up to $$$$. Although it was a very slow night, our servers were attentive without being overbearing. They were also friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely pleased to have customers who were interested in the food and drinks. Other than wishing it was nearer my home, I’ve nothing to complain about — one of the best meals we’ve had in Ottawa and a solid five stars.

I’m sorry to disappoint my Ottawa Unilocal people by not giving this place 4 or 5 stars. I don’t want to come off as a Toronto @$$hole and slag an up and coming place but this review is honest. I am from Ottawa originally and am very impressed that Supply and Demand, such a happening hipster place, could open it was when I grew up, a sleepy little burb not so long ago. My mom(a foodie from before it was cool) and my step-dad were keen to try the place and even though I have my reservations about trendy places, I was game to go as well. First impressions were that everyone was friendly while a bit standoffish and my parents defiantly added to the average age of customers in the joint by around 20 years. We tried large selection of the menu. For starters we had the beef carpaccio, the tuna tartare and the scallops with pomegranate. All of the starters were good. My beef was thinly sliced and delicious with a nice bit of citrus tang.. The scallops and tuna were both nicely seasoned and balanced as well. If the meal had ended there this place would get 4 stars. Then onto the mains. I had the squid ink and pruscutto carpaccio, my mom had the smoked tuna with deviled eggs and my step dad the agricole pasta. The squid ink pasta was interesting. A little bit spicy and had an interesting texture. The first few bites were great but then I started to feel my mouth dry up and began to quickly drink my water. I tried mom’s trout and the eggs as well and noticed the same thing. It was so salty it began to dominate over the rest of my palette and really ruined the overall meal. Here is the rub, there are two things that could have happened. What I hope was that because it was a Monday, the expediter and the chefs were taking it a bit easy and were maybe a bit too vigorous on the salt /seasoning. What I’m afraid of is a more structural problem, where the head chef has used salt and other seasonings to deliver a big hit of addictive flavour to people, who may not notice that its dominating the more subtle flavours. I’m hoping to go back and try some more dishes, and cheer for a place in my once formally sleepy burb

I really, really enjoyed this place. Location and Décor: This is on a somewhat quiet street, or at least seemed like it when we got there, but the place was packed! Great sign! The décor is very comfortable hipster(when you see the wall paper, you’ll understand. I loved it), and boy do they keep it nice and toasty in there! Service: Our server was ONIT. It’s not always easy accommodating folks with nut allergies and dietary restrictions, but he went above and beyond, making sure everything was ok, on the side, or just clear that you couldn’t eat it(if you had an allergy). Not always easy with a menu as small as theirs! Major points to him and the kitchen for being flexible. Food: Yes. Yes. Give me all the things! They bring out fresh rolls with — wait for it – whipped pork butter. COMEON. YUM. Brilliant move chefs, brilliant. We ordered everything from the Garden part of the menu — tasty beet salad, mushrooms and brussels sprouts. All very good. We also got both of the pastas that night. I adored the tuna meatball pasta. Not only was it spicy(nice surprise! I love it!), but it was nicely seasoned and really a great combination with the fish and sauce. Would get again. Skipped dessert. All in all, this is a really hot place in Ottawa right now and there is no reason why it shouldn’t be!

I very rarely give a 5 star rating, but when I saw all the other 5 star reviews of S&D I knew I was in for a treat — man they did not disappoint!!! When we got to the restaurant we learned that they were in the running for Enroute magazines top restaurants to visit in Canada… bar set even higher now on my expectation level. LOL. The food is really great — not a huge menu but very well thought out. I can honestly say everything was different and unique to them. Our awesome sever explained all the items in great detail(and that really made me appreciate what effort went into each dish) I had the most awesome corn soup and pork tenderloin for dinner… then we all split cream puffs for dessert(drooling thinking about them!) The décor is crisp and fun and I loved their wallpaper(will leave you to see what it is when you go!) I can’t wait to go back and try something new!(note that they are only open for dinners)

There’s a reason they are in the running for Top 10 new restaurants in Canada! We were fortunate enough to have Mom take us out for dinner this week and I got to pick the restaurant :) First time here and we had high expectations…4 reviews — all 5 stars… pretty rare to see that on Unilocal. Nice casual, atmosphere — we were seated do and waited on immediately, drink orders were taken and a very extensive explanation of the menu was given as it was our first time there. The servers were fantastic all night, some of the best front of house in the biz as far as i’m concerned — very casual look, jeans and professional shirts… totally my style. The minute my water glass was empty someone came to refill it… and same with my wine glass now that i think about it… i ordered the kale Caesar salad, amazing, super tasty with this great thick bacon bits… my main was the Pork Loin and Pork Sausage cooked sous vide with a palenta purée… amazing super moist. one of the best restaurants i’ve been to in a long time. Good Luck i hope they make the top 10 in Canada.
