I asked them if they had stove top kettles, and they told me they didn’t, because you’re not supposed to boil water for tea, and that they only sell classy tea. Don’t kid yourself. We all know you’re owned by Starbucks. It’s overpriced low quality tea. Also, their free samples always have sugar in them. It’s gross. Tea also isn’t that good. I’d rather drink Tetley.

The Teopia shop greets you when you enter the main doors of Carlingwood Mall. I have to say, I’ve become a big fan of this mall since their renovations a few years ago — but that’s for another review! :) The bf and I are always looking for great loose leaf tea shops, and there’s several wonderful ones in Ottawa. One thing we love about Teopia is the convenience — it’s super close to our apartment and we’re at the mall pretty often. Another is the fantastic staff. You’re always greeted by a warm, friendly, and VERY knowledgeable staff member upon arrival. One staff member(I say staff because they’re both servers and retail) mentioned that it’s an essential part of training to sample every tea they sell. Brilliant. They always have about 3 or 4 different teas to sample(usually iced) at the front of the store. One thing I also appreciate is their merchandising. Everything is neat as a pin, and stacked properly do you’re not constantly worry about bumping into towers or tea or cracking a glass teapot. Speaking of tea pots, Teopia is stoked with fantastic gift ideas as mentioned in the review below. They also have a great group of teas called their«Wellness» blends(think sore throat cure, detox, etc.). The tea bar at the back is the perfect place to sample something and the staff are always keen to make suggestions if you’re not sure what you’d like. My faves are the Wake Up Tea(it literally taste like cola — delicious iced!), Love Spell(a green tea with little candy hearts) and Cherry Amaretto. Go find your tea — with all the options to choose from you won’t leave disappointed.

This is an amazing store for any tea lover. They sell loose leaf tea exclusively along with all of the necessary accessories like tea pots, honey stir sticks, infusers etc. A fab place for gifts, they have a really cool product called flowering tea. You drop the tea flower into a glass pot of boiling water and it blossoms before your eyes! The sell these in gift boxes or individually but the mainstay of the business is the variety of loose leaf tea. It’s sold by the gram(min 50gr) and comes with instructions on how to steep it properly. The staff are very knowledgeable and seem to have a genuine interest in the products. They also sell tea in the store so if you’re not sure what kind you’d like you can always try before you buy!
