We were headed to Wilf and Ada’s, but with 2 kids in tow, we couldn’t wait an hour and a half!!! We were pleasantly surprised by brunch at Berryman! The pancakes were light and fluffy, the eggs florentine and Benedict were also great. Hollandaise was fresh and lemony! The hash browns were out of this world, and service was great, happily subbing fruit for hash browns when one of our party asked. You should definitely check out their brunch. Thanks for a great meal, Berryman!

Came here for a quick brunch… We had a Breakfast Pizza which was shockingly good and the Berryman classic. Their home fries are DELICIOUS but the pulled pork was dry and cold. The service was good, place was clean and cozy. All in all a surprisingly enjoyable brunch at a pub!

I do not understand why their Mac & Cheese is $ 15. It is more expensive than their steak someone explain this to me please. Also their garden salad is over seven dollars. Tax and tip and a little plain garden salad is $ 10. Also they point out that french fries are«gluten free» yeah thanks I know that potatoes are gluten free would you like to also let me know that the water is vegetarian? I find this place insulting to my intelligence on so many levels and I’m not that smart to begin with.

I WANT to give Berryman a better review. Given how frequently I’ve strolled down the street and sat at the bar for any number of sports games you’d think I’d feel a bit more of an allegiance. However, the only thing that it really has going for it is the staff. Well the staff and the people watching. The food is okay. It’s overpriced and not always consistent. The beer is okay. They don’t have as many local beers as other places along Bank, but their selection isn’t awful. The atmosphere is lacking, unless you’re really just there for a game, in which case it doesn’t really matter. All in all, I’d say this isn’t somewhere I’d bring visitors to, but it certainly became my local bar pretty quickly.

The«Buffalo» wings do not deserve the name. Buffalo wing sauce is made with a lot of butter and cayenne pepper sauce, such as Frank’s hot sauce. The sauce used here is kind of hot and kind of sweet. They’re not terrible tasting, but they are not Buffalo wings. So disappointing. Canadians seem to think that any hot wings are Buffalo wings. Nope. I’ll update the review if I eat anything else there.

We went here for Brunch because our first choice had a 45 minute wait! What a pleasant surprise! I had the breakfast pizza that was spot on and delicious! My family had eggs Benedict and Florentine that they thoroughly enjoyed! Service was attentive and polite!(I love yoga pants but a nicer service uniform would be nice!) Overall a great experience!!!

This place has to be shut down. worst breakfast ever!!! If your looking for a restaurant that doesn’t know the first thing about cooking and stocks their restaurant with servers that would rather argue with you than help you than boyo you found it!!! If you ask for soft eggs your gonna get rocks. Just keep walking another block down there’s at least 4 other joints that at least no how to cook a basic egg. Shameful and disgusting! !!

I have mixed feelings about Berrymans. I have come in here a few times and the food has been all over the place. I have come in later in the evening and the food was over cooked, the nachos were burnt and a heaping mess. And than I have come in on a Saturday afternoon and had steak frites and the food was incredible, and my girlfriend had a poutine and she said it was delicious. I have never had trouble with service, I would always rate the service as 5 ***** The beer selection is great(I love me a Sam Adams Lager)

My fiancé and I went out for a bite and a pint last night after work. We decided on the Berryman pub as we had been there once before and had a lovely supper of burgers and draft beer. Atmospherically speaking, the hockey game was distracting as the sound was turned on too loud. Not to mention the fact that you can’t look anywhere without a giant TV in your face. We are not big TV people so we were annoyed by that. Our server came and greeted us at the table we selected and we were impressed by the drink menu offered. We ordered our drinks and browsed the food menu. After viewing the menu choices and realizing that I was disinterested in most of what there was to offer, I settled with the steak and gravy(substituted fries for soup). My fiancé had a beer battered fish and chips with dill sauce and coleslaw. Our server was polite and accommodating. I have an allergy issue with mushrooms so I wanted to make sure that the soup I ordered didn’t contain any. She checked with the chef and said he wasn’t sure because he didn’t make it. Although I feel that there should be more communication in kitchens about these types of things.(Everyone should be aware of what is in what). I decided to play it safe when the server suggested that he make another kind of soup for me. She assured me it was no trouble at all. I felt safe with my choice. It turned out to be a big mistake. The steak I ordered was supposed to be cooked medium-well. It was very well done and tasted like burnt grill. The soup was horrendous to say the least. It tasted like vinegar and puke(it was supposed to be a tomato bisque). I couldn’t eat it at all. My fiancé’s meal was somewhat of a different story. The fish was quite tasty, very fresh and flaked off nicely. The batter was light and crispy too. The fries looked like they were over cooked and from a bag(probably were). But, the dill dip with the fish was amazing. I didn’t eat any of my meal. Instead my partner ate my burnt, tough steak and I had one of his two pieces of fish. The soup went completely to waste as it tasted like a green bin had been dumped into a blender with vinegar and I felt very disappointed. We got our bill and went somewhere else. Overall, pretty good service. If you want to grab drinks and watch the game with friends, it’s perfect. But do NOT order the steak!

After stopping by no less than 3 other bars on and around Bank one night, we finally found our way to Berryman’s(which is what I’m calling it, despite it not being its real name, aha!). They seated a group of about 8 of us really promptly at a round booth in the back which I LOVED! It’s so nice being able to see and chat to one another without it being awkward and rectangle-y. Our server was sweet as pie, and even went along with our ridiculous pranks(buying our friend five«shots» or water while he was int he bathroom, heehee). She was always on the ball, and never missed or screwed up any of our orders, AND got all the various bills right. Thanks girl! I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, and my cocktails were fantastic. I had a Sex on Bank(muhaha) that was a twist on Sex on the Beach and it was great. The game was playing, and the place was pretty busy, and had a pleasant vibe. The food looked good(though I only had a few bites of my friend’s meal), and they had some gluten-free options which was nice. I haven’t for brunch, but I hear it’s awesome. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

For English Premier League fans in Ottawa, there is no better place to go than the Berryman. They even open early some Sundays to accommodate fans wanting to catch the early game and they always play the games with sound. Their breakfast is really tasty, too — our faves are the pulled pork and marble rye toast that come with the Berryman classic breakfast, and the hotcakes with the most delicious syrup. Taking in the game on Sunday mornings at the Berryman has become a bit of a tradition for us.

I live right across the street from the Berryman’s so I have tried to give this place a chance, but no more. If you’re strictly going for pints you’re probably ok, but the food is junk. There are quite a few pubs on Bank Street and many of them have average food which is to be expected, but the food at The Berryman’s is waaay below average. Awful really. Their pizza’s taste like frozen McCain’s grocery store pizzas that they managed to burn on the outside and leave raw in the middle. Fish & Chips also tasted like they came from a cardboard box. You can do better on Bank Street than this place.

First of all, for a pub that’s less that 5 years old, it has a fantastic atmosphere. Dark wood, a ridiculous number of HDTV’s, music(though not so loud as to drown out conversation), great layout with a proper mix of low-top and high-top tables. The food is pub fare; you shouldn’t be going to a place like this expecting a 5 Michelin star meal. You go to a pub for wings, burgers and finger foods. Berryman’s does this kind of menu very well. The Berryman’s Burger is awesome(spicy), the wings are enormous and, surprisingly, the cheese plate is delicious(perfect for a date to split between 2). The place has amazing deals: $ 3 shots on Thursday(including Jameson), $ 10 Jugs of Moose on Saturday and $ 4 Cesar’s on Monday. Other than that, the prices aren’t outrageous, however they also aren’t the lowest in town. I doubt they’ll negatively surprise anyone. The staff is awesome; Chris the bartender is a solid guy as is one of the owners, Mark. I haven’t met the rest. Proof of good service: I went in one night with my lady-friend with the intention of trying some«unique beers»(they have quite a selection by the way); after drinking 5 – 6 different varieties, I settled on Paulaner. I made some comments about how each beer was served in a specific branded glass(as opposed to generic mugs or sleeves). I said I loved the design of the Paulaner sleeve and the Erdinger World Cup Edition chalice; the bartender(blonde female, who’s name I unfortunately can’t remember) sent me home with 2 Paulaner glasses and 1 Erdinger sleeve(if you’re management at the pub, please don’t discipline her for this; I use them several times a week and its one of the many reasons I keep coming back to the pub). Overall, Berryman’s has earned the title of «My Local Pub»; while I love the Pump @ Sir John A’s, and Woody’s is alright(nothing special), I’ll always keep going back to Berryman’s.

The Berryman Pub, I like you. I don’t love you … yet, but I do like you. Clearly a relatively new addition to Bank Street, this has the makings of a quality bar/pub that you don’t mind going to for lunch. I can’t speak to the night life, but I soon will as I will be living quite close. Here is what I do know: Bank Street is a bit of an abyss for bars and restaurants. Elgin is only a few blocks away running parallel to Bank and it has a thriving bar/restaurant scene. Bank, however, is hit or miss at best. Berryman is needed in this area of bank(south side of the Queensway). Let’s talk about booze: it’s a bar with a good selection of beers — many of which are craft breweries. Their«main» beer is Moosehead, and for a «big» beer company, they are as good as they come. All you need to know is $ 12 pitchers of Moosehead on Fridays. See you there. The food is really good. At least the wings were. Anyone can do small, cheap, cover them in sauce wings. These are a whole other story. These are made by a cook/chef that knows how to make wings the way you would serve family members, not just«patrons at a pub». Beyond good, cold beer, impressive food and no Bieber on the radio, what else can you want from a pub?

Whether or not the Berryman Pub is actually good, as a new business it’s well-positioned to become a hotspot. It’s located on Bank Street, just south of Gladstone — on the cusp of the Glebe and Centretown — and is directly across the street from the new Central condo build. As the condos are built and occupied, thanks to proximity this pub is guaranteed to be bustling. My first experience at Berryman’s was last week when I went there to watch game 7 of this year’s NHL playoffs(the Sens vs the Rangers) with a few friends. Our criteria for the evening was that we watched the game at a pub, with seating, and prime spots in front of a TV. In Ottawa, during any notable sporting event, this is not always possible. By 5:30 p.m. that day, most pubs and restaurants on Elgin Street(«Sens Mile») were already full or offering standing room only. Since Berryman’s is a few blocks away from all the hubbub, we were able to nab a table for 6. We were immediately impressed by the décor, the natural light, the 360 degree visibility of the gigantic flat screen TV’s and the impeccable cleanliness. Since two of us arrived early to hold our spot, we ordered the beer battered onions rings and a few beers while we waited. We were not so impressed with the limited beer selection on tap, but I happily ordered a Mill Street Organic(albeit, by the bottle only). When the onion rings arrived, they looked awfully charred. I asked the server if this was intentional and she said that’s how they were suppose to look because of the beer batter. My friend and I tried the onion rings and agreed, not only did they look burnt, but they tasted that way too. When the rest of our gang arrived, we collectively tackled a large part of the menu. We had an order of nachos, hot wings, mac n’ cheese, two pizzas, and the lamb burger. After asking about two items on the menu, which I was told are no longer available, I opted for a margarita pizza. I figured you can’t go wrong with basil, tomato sauce, and cheese. Or at least I thought so. The bottom of my pizza crust was doused in flour. I’m guessing the intention was to have a light dusting, which is often the practice in wood oven pizzas, but it was overwhelming. Two bites in and I felt like I’d just run a marathon in Arizona. The saving grace was that I had a full glass of water and another beer on the way. My friends had a better experience than I did. I’m told the nachos and wings were excellent(note: they do wing nights on Wednesdays) and the mac n’ cheese also received a great review. My dining experience at Berryman’s was somewhat analogous to the game I was watching. I really wanted both of them to succeed and there was no shortage of effort, but a bit more follow through and refining would have given the Sens and Berryman’s a winning score.
