Visited The SconeWitch with girl friends on Saturday around 12 for brunch. It wasn’t too busy so we were able to order fairly quickly. I had the Eggwitch along with an iced coffee. Total came to about 12 $. My drink was handed to me right away with a number, so I was able to go sit wherever I liked. My friends joined me shortly. The iced coffee was very strong even though I had asked for it to be sweetened. I added more milk and sugar, which was available on the bar close by, along with glasses and water. Our orders came quickly. I was a bit disappointed by the portion. The menu said it came with greens, so I expected a salad, but rather it was a few fruits and some spinach leaves placed around the Eggwitch. The Eggwitch itself was VERY tasty. I had the onion scone. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly with the ham and cheese. Overall the service was friendly as well, and the ambience was great. I’d like to visit again to try other menu items and take some scones home!

the scones are great but they have shrunk to about ½ the size they were 2 years ago. but the price have NOT shrunk. so, what was once an actual meal is now a pricey, tasty snack. I used to eat here but now I just occasionally get a scone.

Delicious brunch, coffee, scones! Try their eggwitch if you aren’t too hungry or want something to go. Try their brunch plate with smoked salmon or mushroom ragu for something extra tasty and delicious!

Why have a muffin or slice of cake/bread when you can have a scone. And not just a scone, aromatic, melt-in-your-mouth, call home to talk about it kind of scone. Seriously, don’t waste your time, buy 2. The coffee is pretty freakin’ good too.

you can find different kind of scone here, like it, but the cream sold out, what’s a pity

I’m a fan of scone so I came here during my short visit at Ottawa. They have a generous variety of sweet and savoury scone served with egg, fruit and green for breakfast. The scones are all fresh and tasty. Unfortunately they were run out of Devon cream so I could not fully enjoy the scone.

Ordered the breakfast menu, with scrambled eggs, scone, and jam. The scrambled egg was nothing special, although the jam was delicious. A small portion. I’m still hungry. What gets me worked up is that you come to grab a $ 12 breakfast and they don’t give you a refill on your coffee.

This place was bustling on Family Day. There was a half hour wait for our food to be ready(as we ordered to eat in). I ordered the scrambled eggs with mushroom ragu. My scone was the currant-ginger flavour with the rhubarb ginger jam. I also got an earl grey tea latte. My latte was okay. I found my eggs were cold when my order was up. The mushroom ragu was good, but there wasn’t enough of it for my liking. I found my jam to be yummy, but my scone was just okay in flavouring. My partner ordered the scrambled eggs with mustard glazed ham. His scone was the lemon-poppyseed which was amazing! Esp with the rhubarb ginger jam! But he got the raspberry jam(which was okay). I felt like for the time we waited for our food to be ready, it shouldn’t have come out cold? But I’m hoping it was just because it was crazy busy that day. I did enjoy the scones and jams, especially if you managed to order the right flavour combo!

Wow. Just wow. Hands down the best scones I’ve ever tasted in my entire life, and I’ve been to some fancy schmancy high tea places that serve scones before! We got the vanilla cream and the raspberry scones with Devon cream and the blackberry and strawberry jams… absolutely divine. The scones had the perfect balance of flaky and crispy, and it went perfectly with our lattes. We got the scones as a part of the scrambled egg breakfasts with the ham. Delicious and a great start to my Sunday morning. Will return!

Food is really good but a bit pricey. I’m usually not a fan of scones but there’s was good. Only suggestion for them is to have the line of people waiting on the same side as the menu. Now it’s not on the same side and it’s not efficient.

Freshly baked scones that aren’t imported in on the back of the green mermaid– what? Go treat yourself to some Delicious carbs in many wonderful flavors. Very flaky and fresh. We ordered the EggWitch– light breakfast, but if you need more then do the full breakfast for a larger portion. The coffee and hot chocolate were great on a cold day!

ordered a large coffee and salmon and zucchini cream sauce with herb and onion scone. the salmon and zucchini went very well together and i felt that the herb an onion scone fit the picture just as well. it was served with a side of salad which came with green olives, grape tomatoes and cucumbers. it tasted delicious and they best part is that it tasted healthy. you don’t leave feeling guilty. i ended up ordering ½ a dozen assorted scones to take back for my sister and im pretty sure she didn’t take too long to finish them. lemon poppy seed is pretty good too. vanilla is not as sweet as i was expecting which is great, cus im not big on sweets.

I don’t know… I went there just now. It was so crowded with people that there was no seat available. I ordered a BLT and a green tea. It took me about 20 minutes to get my order. The food was pretty good, if you ignore its tiny size and its high price.

This is ONE witch who you can trust to cast nothing but positive spells on your meal! I requested an eggwitch but lo and behold they stopped serving those at 3pm, just minutes before our arrival. Stuck making a quick quick decision to not hold up the line, I sprang for a salmon sconewitch. It was a delightful treat and my coffee tasted about as fresh an apple pie on New Year’s Day. And no need to panic, but just a headsup they close at 4pm(at last on Saturdays) so don’t show up TOO late for your witchfest ;) Wicked vibes, of course.

Wow! Sconewitch definitely change my idea of a scone. I used to think of scones as a last resort breakfast item that you needed to chase down with a sufficient amount of fluid because for the most part they would be dry after days of freezing. I mean sure there’s fruit or cheese somewhere inside but that’s just to give you added incentive to chew the thing down or provide some nutritional content that isn’t just gluten filler. But light, fluffy, soft, flavorful scones freshly baked? Flavours like currant/ginger, herb/onion and feta in a scone? Sandwiches with scones as the bun? That’s sorcery and… awesome! Loved it here. Service was excellent. The space is white, clean, open and calming. And a great place to read a book or meet a friend for tea. A huge fan!

I came here after reading all the rave reviews about the scones here and since I bake what every recipient has called«the best scones they’ve ever had,» I was curious to see how these scones compared. The Scone Witch is a homey place, busy even on a late afternoon… though perhaps it was tea time and scone time for Ottawans. The blueberry scone I had was good, but nothing I considered spectacular. Resembling a biscuit in roundness and size, it was crusty on the outside, and resembled a cross between a blueberry muffin top and a biscuit in texture inside. Marbled with bluish streaks from blueberries that seemed nonexistent(yes, I had so few blueberries in my scone that I considered it zero, a huge disappointment) it was nevertheless tasty. It was the right amount of sweet, not too much, not too little and definitely fresh. But heck, a blueberry scone should have at least more than a few blueberries, no? Also, I didn’t taste any butter in the scone, but since my ratio is 1.5 sticks of butter to my 8 scones, I couldn’t subtract another star in case I might be biased. But didn’t Scone Witch know that it’s the butter that makes scones flaky! I decided to not try another scone based on my taste test. I might visit this place again but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it again. The many people eating there seemed content though. Service was affable. It’s a pretty place, with wooden chairs and tables, and clean. It’s may be difficult to access unless you know to come through the side entrance or go through the office buildings, past the elevators and glass doors if you come through on the Elgin side.

I heard about Scone Witch while it was still at it’s old location but never got the chance to visit. It seemed a lot smaller than it’s location now, so I can see why space might have been one of the reasons for the location(speculation). Since then, I’ve been to the new location on Elgin a few times for breakfast and lunch. I found it to be a little overwhelming the first time — they have a menu on a blackboard right behind the counter and it ranges from«sconewitches» to larger«mealwitches», desserts, a soup or two, desserts, and beverages. For breakfast, I had the Eggwitch, which had eggs, ham, and cheese in an herb and onion scone with fruit and greens/mini salad. I also had hot chocolate with marshmallows and more chocolate on top. This was much more filling than I had expected, though I found it kind of difficult to eat in sandwich form without it falling apart. It’s quite messy if you try to just pick it up and eat it, even with the toothpick, and even messier if it’s made with one of the gluten free scones. Even the green onion and jalapeño gluten free scone I had was delicious, but crumbled a lot. All in all tasty, but not exactly a sandwich you can eat gracefully. I like that it came with fruit and greens, and though the dressing for the mini salad was a nice and light vinaigrette, my fruit was placed in the same area and the dressing didn’t go so well with that. Not to mention some of my fruit was warm. Yuck! The last lunch I remember having was a poached salmon and cucumber sconewitch, again in the herb and onion scone. I also ordered the soup of the day(there may have been another that I can’t remember) — cold watermelon and mint. The sconewitch was delicious. I think I enjoyed it more than the breakfast, even though I LOVE breakfast everything. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was a decent-sized portion. There were also fresh cucumbers and greens, as well as some kind of creamy sauce, maybe dill. I believe it was also toasted, which didn’t help with the crumbling situation, but it was worth it. I gave up trying to eat the watermelon soup with a spoon and just ended up drinking it from the container. It was good, but very watery and sweeter than I would have preferred. Though it’s a pretty great place to eat overall, I’m not sure it’s the best around. Definitely different and I do enjoy it when I go, but there’s a lot of hype about it that I’m not sure it lives up to completely. The service has also been on and off for me. I understand it may take some time to get your order, but there are a couple of people taking the orders that seem. pretentious. I got some dirty looks when I was there the first time, just trying to read the menu and decide what to get. I even asked for some help with a big smile on my face since I was so excited, and I got the worst, dismissive attitude back. It almost felt like«if you don’t already know, then what are you doing here?» Just felt like I was in the way and not treated like a customer. I haven’t had that same experience since, but it was very off-putting for a first impression.

I first visited The Scone Witch three years ago, in the old Albert location. I really enjoyed the Eggwitch I ate, and told everyone about my great experience. Today I recommended it to some friends from Toronto to give them a unique Ottawa brunch experience. They wouldn’t shut up about how much they loved it! We were sadly too late for breakfast, so we each had a Sconewitch, followed by some sweet scones to take home. We were all really happy with our food. I had a bite of the Bombleberry Shortcake(I think that’s the name?) and it was too tasty to describe. My complaint about the old location is that there was not enough seating, and so it remains. Even though the new dining room is much bigger, it feels a little crowded in there. Otherwise, don’t let that stop you from trying this place out. The service was fast despite the crowd, and most importantly, their scones are tasty, flaky perfection! Good coffee, too!

Perfect little place to have a quick lunch. It’s a must every time I’m in Ottawa. This place has the best scones I’ve ever had. Better than ones I’ve had for high tea at posh places. They have sweet AND savoury scones. Try the goat cheese sandwich in a chive scone or the BLT with pesto. And pick up some sweet ones to go. My favourites: orange cranberry, vanilla, and lemon poppyseed. Parking and convenient entrance on Gloucester. Enjoy!

Arrived 10 minutes past 11 and missed the breakfast menu, boo. I orders the smoked turkey and Stilton sconewitch. It was awesome! The scone was so tender and flakey. It was really good.

Best scone that I ever had! Nice place with nice food! Friendly staff make your breakfast much more delicious~~ The restaurant was a little difficult to find but once walking into it, you will feel so comfortable because of its atmosphere and food. I ordered the daily soup which was carrot and dill. It tasted fresh and warm. The scone was not too sweet and in a perfect match with cream cheese/blueberry jam. Really GOOD! You must try it~
