I had a friend that lived in this University of Ottawa residence during first-year, and I would stay there sometimes, but I would avoid it as much as possible. I would rather stay at any other res building on the Ottawa U campus than stay here. I don’t even know where to start. The res is co-ed, but there are a few floors that are girls-only. The rooms are either single or shared with one other person of the same sex. They furnished with beds, desks, chairs, phones, and a closet. Cable Internet is also included. They have laundry facilities, a kitchenette, laundry room, and two bathrooms on each floor. This would all be great if the residences weren’t so ghetto. The beds were terrible. more than terrible! I would’ve been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. if it was ever clean. The beds are so old and worn out that they sink in right in the middle, breaking your back while you sleep. that is, if you can sleep at all. The room temperature also doesn’t help. If you’re lucky enough to have blinds that are intact, they still don’t do their job, so when it’s hot outside, it’s hot inside the room. There’s no air conditioning, either, so, basically, it’s just hot all the time, even in the winter when the heat is always blasting. And here’s a warning to all of you young’ns out there: This is a known as a dry res, meaning quite a lot of the students that are only 17 or just turned 18 are placed here, and if you’re caught with booze, you may be at serious risk of getting kicked out.
