I’ve just concluded my second seasonal transaction with Yarmand, required to revitalize a tired snowblower that has not worked well for a number of years(and did not work at all last year). My first transaction was required in the spring for my gas-powered lawnmower(which did work, but had not properly for many years). I am relatively new to lawn and garden(and now, winter driveway) care so I was not familiar with what was required to maintain this type of equipment. However, both the low prices and the quality of service these guys offer leave the competition far, far behind(as did my first experience in the spring). I started inquiring about getting service about a week after their fall special on snowblower service had already ended. However, Farid immediately informed me that he would apply the $ 20 discount regardless. While this might not seem like much financially, it immediately demonstrated their intention to go «that extra mile,» which did much to convince me. Perhaps this was in anticipation of just how long it would take to complete the service, which might sour some people on this particular business(from my very first web inquiry until final delivery last Friday, my entire experience lasted exactly two months). However, considering that this time included a number of failed attempts to co-ordinate pick-up and delivery, I am more than willing to overlook this, since I can only attribute this to just how much business these guys have. To sum up, I can not recommend Farid and the rest of the guys at Yarmand enough. Therefore, to get my(used — about 5 yrs old) snowblower running(about which I was not even remotely aware of what was wrong), I did seek a quotation from what I thought was one of their closer competitors but it ended up being no comparison at all: competition: pick-up/delivery(to Kanata) — $ 95 «tune-up rate»(based on 8 hp) — $ 205(+ $ 10 per additional hp) parts, shop supplies, and taxes — extra $$ deposit req’d on p/u — $ 195 total(incl. taxes) — Yarmand: pick-up/delivery — $ 69 labour(per hr) — $ 80 parts — $ 70 total(incl. taxes) — $ 400 Needless to say, I will be contacting Yarmand again in the spring with my lawnmower.
