What a good meal, could be the best restaurant meal I have ever had. Service was also excellent. Had soup for a starter and this also great. Everything came out hot, plates were warm and servicing sizes big. We had a reservation but showed up 30 minutes early and they worked to accommodate us with just a few minutes of seating at the bar. Price wise, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, ½ litre of local wine for around $ 100.

I visit the County every summer for a couple of days and nights and for the past 3 years we’ve dined at Blumen. I can’t say enough good things about this great establishment. The food highlights local ingredients, the dishes are creative, food is served nice and hot and is beautifully plated. The wait staff is attentive, well versed on menu items and very polite. This time around I had their hot soup of the day which was a cream of corn with lump crabmeat and a corn salsa — great flavour and texture! Two appetizers served well for the rest of the meal. Stars of the show included a sweet pea agnolotti that was plump with pea purée and a stunningly rich green colour, along with tender and delicious pork cheeks — wow! The crispy sweetbreads were served with crispy polenta batons that were insanely addictive, great exterior crunch with a wonderfully tender and creamy interior. If I had any extra capacity I would have tried the warm ricotta fritters with orange scented mascarpone for dessert(because how amazing does that sound) but alas, I was just too full. Keep up the great work Blumen and see you next summer!

Dinner Overall: 4.5÷5 Ambiance: 4 Food: 5 Service: 4 Value: 4 Repeat: Certainly! Notes: Everything is made in-house. Recommend the rabbit main and beef tartare appetizer. The deserts are phenomenal as well, esp the cheesecake. Unlike the NOTL/Beamsville area the options for top notch restos that are consistent seems scarce. Unfortunately, Blumen seems to be only option for a superlative experience, and is only open for dinner(atleast in the offseason). The rest, based on speaking to locals, reading up reviews, trying them ourselves, can be a hit/miss. But I think with time, there are some up and coming contenders like the Hubb.

Without exaggeration, Blumen is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. We went here after a friend highly recommended it to us. We were not let down. My wife and I had crab cakes, mushroom ragout, pickerel and the rabbit gnocchi. The gnocchi were hand made with tons of rabbit on top. Everything was perfectly seasoned an delicious. Highly recommend to anybody in the area! We will totally be going back!

This place was wonderful. Service was exceptional. Food fabulous. If we’d been able to be seated in the Gazebo(it was completely booked) our rating would have been a 5. Worth every moment here.

Amazing! More vegetarian options would be warmly received, but the one they had was exceptional. Perfect place to take Dad for a Father’s Day weekend getaway.

One of the best meals that I have had in a long time… everything was perfect. The salad was tied for first with a salad in Argentina. Amazing. The steak and the pork tenderloin were flawless.

MEAT. Review over. Ok fine, best meat ever. We went there on the recommendation of the hostess/owner of the B’n’B we are staying at(further review coming on that one, another 5 star for sure!!). The food was, ugh English is so limiting … Amazing? My stomach needs to invent a word to replace amazing, it was that good. The lamb I had literally was falling off the bone it was so tender and perfectly cooked. The vegetables and portabella mushroom equally as good. If you go, you MUST get the marrangue(sp) tower for desert. The fruit, ice cream, everything was absolutely perfect.

Fabulous meal and service! Our waiter was so helpful with the wine and the neighbouring areas. The appetizers, crab cake and I had spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli, were excellent. The pork tenderloin was perfect. The real surprise was the hominy grits soufflé, amazing. A wonderful experience, highly recommended.

Exactly the kind of place I expected to find in PEC. Solid Canadian but still unique dishes in a nice upscale location with great staff. Everything we had was good(especially the pulled rabbit gnocchi which was excellent) but there were a couple of things to nitpick. The spinach in the spinach and goat cheese ravioli was a bit stringy and two dishes with eggs(the soufflé with the pork and the crème brûlée) were a little overcooked and eggy. Still — I will definitely go back.

We were a group of 5 people visiting from out of town for lunch. After hearing some positive reviews, we decided to try Blumen. First the good — The food was good, portions were decent(except the scallop plate which came with only 3 pieces) and prices were reasonable. The bad — 3 out of 5 plates had a strand of hair in the food. One of the plates with hair was pointed out to a server and she said«eww», took the plate back to the kitchen and when she returned, it was obvious that only the tainted part was replaced on the same plate. We didn’t bother mentioning the other 2 hairs as they were discovered after the food was eaten and we didn’t think they were care anyways. The service was definitely lacking. Our server was pretentious and inattentive. After the one hair was pointed out to another server, there was no apology or even an acknowledgment when the bill came. We do want to mention that the hostess with the dreads was lovely and cheerful.

We were six and probably should have tried a bit of everything, but each couple ended up sharing the rack of lamb and the pickerel. Starters were a sweet potato soup and salad with candied pecans, baby lettuces and aged cheddar, both of which I found a tad sweet as the beginning of a meal, but others disagreed. The mains were amazing. I was the eager partaker of the lamb and it arrived perfectly cooked, rosy centre, atop potatoes, French green beans, and carrots, with a lovely jus. I even ate the carrots which were caramelized and yummy. We went with a local chardonnay and a pinot, both of which were well-priced and delicious. Desserts were a velvety crème brulée, and a strudel which my friend said was the best she had ever eaten. Coffee – both caffeinated and decaf were mellow and rich. Service was attentive, and intelligent(a lovely school teacher who slipped into conversation with us and clearly won’t be grinding pepper for long). I’d recommend this restaurant enthusiastically with no reservations at all.(But you’d better make them. It gets busy in season, for good reason.)

Our 2nd visit to this restaurant. Good food. Rabbit over gnocchi. Lamb very good, done just right. Accommodates substitutions with aplomb! Service good but waitress pressed as she was here alone. Very busy for a rainy Monday evening, which is always a good sign. Only real drawback was paying $ 40 for a bottle of rather indifferent pinot noir with a screw cap.

I visited Blumen with my family while on a quick trip to Picton. My folks had been there a few times and raved about it. I can see why! We all tried something different on the menu… everything was absolutely delicious and the chef doesn’t want you to go home hungry. The portions are a nice size. I had the fresh caught perch and my husband had the rabbit. We both savoured every bite! The desserts are amazing as well! We dined indoors, but they have a lovely seating area outside as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Great food and service. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the music was a nice touch. A great find for when we’re in Prince Edward County.

Quality restaurants in Prince Edward County tend to come and go, as illustrated by the recent demise of Harvest in Picton, and a reported sad decline of Bloomfield Carriage House. Thankfully, Blumen proudly and successfully carries the torch of fine local cuisine in PEC. On a recent visit there, I sampled the best-looking and, I believe, best-tasting of their mains: pulled rabbit with gnocchi, paired with a delightful local Pinot Noir. Rabbit meat sometimes tends to be dry, but the wonderful creamy sauce and soft gnocchi took care of that. As an appetizer, I had the very flavorful beef tartar. My partner had a crab cake which was also very tasty, even though it quickly fell apart on the plate. Desserts were satisfying although nothing to tweet about. The only disappointment was my espresso. Perhaps there’s something in the local water, but it tasted awful. The restaurant is located off a local road, away from the town centre, in a nice old house. There’s ample parking and a nice patio, probably quite busy in the height of summer. The service was excellent. I’m glad I followed the waiter’s wine recommendation — it was spot on. I hope this restaurant will maintain their quality, develop a following and remain in business for a long time.

I was visiting Picton with my BF for his birthday last weekend and I really wanted to celebrate at a nice restaurant. Since it is off season in the county, we were having a hard time finding a location to dine at. I remembered the name Blumen from the last time we were in the county so we called and luckily got a reservation. After booking this reservation we proceeded to a few wineries where they all told us it is the most expensive place in town to eat. We obviously became worried but decided to try it out. Upon arrival, we noticed the brilliant details of this restaurant, from the suede chairs, to the glass fireplace that separated the bar from the dining area to the tiling behind the bar taps which the owner informed us was some of the original parts left what was an abandoned restaurant when she bought it. We obviously were curious just how expensive so we quickly flipped open the menu to see not only a great selection of items but a great selection of items at a fair price. We had a bottle of a local wine, I had the most delicious salad and beef tartar and the BF had steak which he said was amazing. We both had the best butterscotch crème brûlée we have had and the entire experience cost us just over $ 100. Not too shabby. This is a restaurant that is a gem among the county. In the summer months be sure to make a reservation as it fills up quickly. We were there in the dead of off season and it was still packed. Bön Appetit.
