Outstanding meal. Stopped by on spur of the moment side trip, to see the Lake on the Mountain. Very cool, kids had fun. Stopped by for some food at lunchtime. The Miller House was mainly charcuterie’s, looked good to us but not particularly kid friendly, so we walked across the street instead to this little gem. Had a seat on their patio, server was friendly and welcoming, and loved everything we ate. Hubby had the tourtière(amazing), I had the quiche of the day, and kids meals were quickly devoured. I tried the summer ale, very tasty. Chocolate layer cake for dessert. All at a reasonable price for five, in a beautiful setting, temp was gorgeous, and didn’t feel rushed. Would highly recommend. Wish we would be in the area for dinner!

Lake on the Mountain is a unique glacial remnant. The lake is a natural curiosity with a constant flow of clean, fresh water, with no apparent source located 60 metres above Lake Ontario with views towards the Bay of Quinte, the Glenora Ferry and the north shore. Great picnic spot if you are exploring Prince Edward County and is a 1 minute drive up the mountain on the PEC side of the Glenora Ferry launch. There are real washrooms, picnic tables and decking and a pub next door. I always make a stop there for a picnic lunch with items bought from the local PEC farmers and winery or from the Kingston Farmers market and health food shop. The pub is called Inn — Lake on the Mountain and brew a ‘Country Brown Ale’ and ‘Cream Ale from the micro brewery. The pub is a popular spot and the only spot for those that forgot to pack a picnic brunch.

Tried this place given the positive reviews and was a bit disappointed. Sat on the patio on a very nice day. You can see both the Lake on the Mountain as well as Lake Ontario which is impressive geologically. So to relax and have a meal near an attraction is definitely enjoyable. But that’s where it ends. The food was mediocre and very expensive. Despite the excellent service and ambiance, felt a bit dissatisfied with the culinary experience. I had the Shrimp Masala w/Basmati rice. It tasted like shrimp in a tomato sauce base full of spices. An amateurish attempt at Indian cuisine. My son at the Beef Tenderloin with trimmings. Though he thoroughly enjoyed his meal, the meat portion was so small he was left hungry. Other than the mushrooms with gravy, the trimmings looked like a typical corn, peas, carrots with mashed potatoes that you would quickly whip up at home from the freezer, nothing special. Wife had the Radiatore Pasta which was uninspiring. Another amateurish attempt at Mediterrian cuisine. Brother-in-law had the baked Grouper which he found satisfying. However, trimmings were unexciting like the Beef Tenderloin. Mother-in-law went light with the Leek and Potato soup of the day. She was not particularly satisfied and complained that it felt like it was burnt. Would I go back? Not for the food. However, the attraction is worth visiting. Maybe stick to appetizers and drinks to maximize the experience while minimizing the exhorbitant prices.

Love this small cozy restaurant. The best time to visit is in the warmer weather when the shaded, peaceful patio is open. Oddly enough, it’s beside the road, with cars and motorcycles moving in and out of the area looking over the bay and vising the lake that is on the mountain.(Read the plaque — it explains everything!) In addition to the wonderful patio, the food is excellent, as is the service. I’ve left this review too long to remember precisely what we ate — though I seem to remember the poutine being outstanding. This is one of the better places to eat in Prince Edward County — try it!(Just make a reservation so you aren’t disappointed — it’s quite popular. And if you don’t have a reservation, try anyway — sometimes you get lucky and if you don’t, you can still visit the lake.) Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: Yes

You have to see this place to believe it; you literally are on a lake on a mountain! The vista to one side overlooks Lake Ontario, and on the other side at eye level is a lake! Even if you don’t stop in to the restaurant or stay at the B&B, stop at the park area to read about this naturally occurring oddity. Now — if you do stop for a meal, you’re in for a treat. It’s a charming small restaurant with a front room that feels pub-like and a second room that feels more like an english tea room. There is a gorgeous fireplace that is worth asking to sit next to, if possible! The menu has some regular features that are well known to those who are regulars: a daily quiche, a well-known strawberry salad and a selection of panini sandwiches. I opted for smoked salmon and potato pancakes(gluten free, too) while the others at my table opted for the aforementioned regular items. Everything was tasty; my only suggested improvement would be a more plentiful green salad with the potato pancakes as the description led me to believe there would be more on the plate than what I received, but the potato pancakes made up for what the salad lacked. Service is friendly and was efficient enough for our party to get back to wine tasting, as that was the reason for our visit to the area that day!
