Tried this place with my husband based off a recommendation from a coworker and it was amazing! We had the gyro dinner and the fried fish dinner and both were good home cooked style meals. The fish was fresh & crispy and so were the fries. The gyro dinner was surprisingly authentic and she even brought me extra tzatziki, the even serve Mythos to top if off. Our waitress was really nice & attentive one of the best I have had in Sarnia.

Sometimes local recommendations aren’t always the best. The night before, the plant leadership team hosted our audit team at the Brigantine for steak and a «get to know you» opportunity. For our second evening dinner, we were hankering for a more casual local place with decent fish and chips and a beer. And after triangulating recommendations from 3 – 4 people at the Plant, we chose to come to the Bridge Tavern. Maybe we should have gone to Salvatore’s next door for pasta or maybe even the Balmoral on the other side. This place should also not be confused with«Chips Under the Bridge», although here in downtown Point Edward, that’s kind of where these places are located. The Bridge Tavern space and the Greek family that runs it were nice enough. The interior is clean and spacious and I bet they do a decent family reunion and wedding reception business. But you would think that a place that has the word Tavern in its title would serve draft beer and more than 3 kinds of bottle beer. Nope. And the wine selection? Red or white. I’m not a big fan of heavily battered and deep friend version of fish and chips. But it can be done right, especially with the right fresh batter. Not here. Plus, the cole slaw wasn’t really fresh and had way too much vinegar. My colleagues had a similar experience and one thinks I’m being too kind by giving the Bridge Tavern 2 stars. But you live and learn. In my corner of the Midwest where I grew up, there are lots of small towns and lots of restaurants such as these. And I’ll continue to seek them out as local colour and food(good and not so good) go a long way with me.
