Canalside

Stopped by after reading the reviews on Unilocal.We had been staying down at the falls, and was had found ourselves here after going on a horseback trip.
We were greeted promptly, and it appeared that there were only a couple of employees dealing with a vendor, and a regular sitting at the bar area.
The waitress /​bartender offered us the specials, and quickly left to get us a couple of drinks that we had ordered. My wife and I each tried the tomato soup, and a crab role. We had just finished our appetizer (calamari with aoli) when lunch arrived.
The soup was warm and the sandwich had good flavor’s.
Overall, we had a great experience, felt that the employee was very pleasant, and would definitely recommend that you give them a chance.

Meh… Went in on my lunch break and there was no server in sight. I had to walk back to the kitchen to find the server chatting away. So I got seated on the patio and had the Angus Steak sandwich. I give them points for promptness as I had my food in less than 10 mins but the sandwich and salad portions were very poor for the price…(even paid extra for ceased salad) very little steak in the sandwich. $ 19 lunch…

Had a wonderful lunch with some friends. Everything was great. The pulled pork wrap was fantastic. The staff is genuine and quick with the orders. Will come back.

LOVE this restaurant. The atmosphere is like no other in the region.
My only critique, please offer VEGAN options.
I really wanted to try the Dill Pickle soup — but it was made with animal products.
I’d visit regularly if there were more vegan options than just french fries.
Side note — the owner/​server was AWESOME.
Look forward to enjoying a Vegan meal at Canalside sometime soon.

This splendid and spectacular restaurant is a pretty scenic place to have dinner at. The restaurant staff are generally helpful, polite and respectful. What I had dinner was very tasty and derlicious.

Three of us stopped here after a trip to Niagara Falls, based on our Unilocal research. We didn’t want to do anything touristy in Niagara Falls and I’m familiar with Port Colborne. Plus, after a day at the Falls, you want to check out the Welland Canal, which ships use to bypass going over the Falls.
We had to sample local beers, and try poutine. It’s a Canadian staple, after all. For dinner, I had the Lake Erie perch, and the two lovely ladies with me had Asiago Chicken and Pork & Peach pasta. I sampled both and have to say, of the three dinners, mine was my least favorite. Lightly breaded was just slightly too breaded on the perch for me, considering I’d have preferred no breading.
We, unfortunately, walked in right after a big group that had gotten off of a sailboat that had just finished transiting the Welland Canal, and therefore service was slow. However, this was not the staff’s fault. I’d highly recommend Canalside to anyone looking for a medium-​priced option in Port Colborne.

Great food and a local beer (Lock 8)! Stopped off and had a burger and beer during Canada Daay weekend. Returned for fish n chips another time and food was excellent. Really cant go wrong with anything here! nice patio too in the summer and reasonably priced!

This is a review of the restaurant. They have a couple of rooms for rent, for which I have left tips.
We ate here twice, but the first time we had only appetizers, not mains. The food is good and satisfying, what one expects at a pub. Nothing stands out, but the Atlantic salmon was a big hit last night with my hungry brothers-​in-​law. I liked my beef and mushroom pasta in cream sauce. Great carrot cake! They have two special «Canalside» beers on tap.
