I had a problem with my windshield washer plugged up on my 2014 Sienna. I got David Pearce to look at it and he knew right away what the problem was. A rodent had just chewed and broken the rubber hose. David got a part and fixed it there and then for me. 5 minutes and it was all done. David pearce — a gentleman and a scholar. What a wonderful surprise and such professional service. That is why I keep going back to OpenRoad Toyota — Port Moody years after years.

We were very pleased with the care and support from sales person Marc Cyrus. Our needs were unique and he listened most respectfully and proposed a solution that surpassed our expectations. Dianne in the finance department also went above and beyond to make sure that we were well satisfied. The car that we originally went to look at (posted on their website) had been sold, but we are very satisfied with the Rav 4 that we have purchased. Although a pre-​owned vehicle, it was in mint condition with low mileage.

You know what annoys me about this place?
Every time I book an appointment for servicing, I always ask how much it’s going to cost and how long it’s going to take. NOT ONCE has the numbers I’ve been given been accurate, not even on an oil change. I didn’t think much of it the first few times it happened but after a couple more years of this, $ 300 becomes $ 600, $ 100 becomes $ 300 and most recently $ 300 becomes $ 800, I’ve had it with this garbage.
Tired of being bent over the table by these guys.
I will not return here ever under any circumstances, nor will I ever buy a Toyota vehicle again.
Thanks guys, you managed to ruin what was a good customer relationship by being a bag of dicks.

In this day and age with the global economic influences on local businesses I was shocked when I went to return an unused $ 65 part I had purchased from Open Road Mazda in Port Moody. I was told I couldn’t return it because I didn’t have the plastic bag with the ‘stick-​on’ computer printed label that it came in. WTF !!! I couldn’t believe the guy. I would’ve even accepted a re-​stocking charge, but a total flat refusal to take it back is totally unacceptable. No amount of ‘excuses’ or ‘explanations’ will ever convince me that this kind of disrespect for their customers should be tolerated. As a result it is very unlikely I’ll ever have anything to do with any Open Road auto store in the Vancouver area. I tried for over two hours (what’s my time worth?) to get hold of someone I could talk to about it and eventually left a message with Doreen Fung who is reportedly the Customers Relation Manager in Richmond who never did return my call (at least not yet). (All three of the top managers at the Mazda store were on vacation at the same time so there was no one there to talk with.) Very disappointing.

I bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma from Valley Toyota in Chilliwack, after passing on my beloved 2001 Tacoma to a relative. I loved the sales staff I dealt with, but it’s a 1.5 hour trek to have my truck serviced there, so instead I took it to OpenRoad Toyota. As a side note, before purchasing my truck, I went into OpenRoad a few times to speak with a salesperson and to take a truck for a test drive, but I was never impressed with the salesperson I was dealing with, and went elsewhere.
OK, so my 1^st service consisted of basically an oil change and the usual check the fluids and tire pressure. Initially I was told that my truck required that the oil be synthetic. I disagreed, but after a discussion, and some research by the service person, it was learned that it could have just regular old oil. All of this for the low price of $ 72.36 including tax. I also asked that they look into why my check engine light had come on a couple times, the squeak in the suspension and why the truck often bottomed out over speed bumps.
The mechanic could not hear any squeak, nor get the truck to bottom out, so I went on a test drive with him, to try and show him what it was doing. We went out for 5 minutes, and I could hear the squeak a couple of times, albeit, it wasn’t very loud these times, I could still hear it. I couldn’t, however, get it to bottom out.
The mechanic, who’s name may have been Owen, said perhaps I just needed to learn what noises my new truck made, and what he heard was perfectly normal. I told him, that I could take him to the Superstore parking lot 5 minutes away, but he refused, stating «How long do you expect me to test drive this truck for»?
Anyways, I was made to feel that I was making this stuff up, and/​or, I should just put up with it, as it was normal.
I had a quote for front brakes on my last truck from these guys. It was well over $ 600. I had it done from a friends son, who is a mechanic for $ 250. Hmmmmm
I don’t think I will be returning to OpenRoad Toyota, but I will make the trek out to Valley Toyota in Chilliwack, where I was treated like a valued customer.
OpenRoad Toyota, you already lost me on the $ 32,750 purchase of this truck, now you have lost me on all of my future servicing.

Sometimes, no amount of free coffee and WIFI justifies poor service issues. Especially when you thought you’d be a customer for the life of your Toyota Rav4 as I have. They may have swank amenities but in the end, what brings me back for regular maintenance is TRUST. Trust that when I bring in my car, I can drive away knowing everything’s been taken care of. Trust that the shop mechanics know what they’re doing (cause I sure as hell don’t). Most of all, trust that you’re paying a fair price to do necessary fixes. Openroad Toyota Port Moody dropped the ball on all accounts after having been a regular customer there the last two and a half years.
We had our car in about a month and a half ago for a more in-​depth routine service. If you’re familiar with Toyota «milestone» servicing, it just means instead of the quick $ 60 – 80 routine maintenance, your baby should be getting a more thorough checkup at about $ 200 – 260. Appointment booking and everything went terrific as usual, but we drove away from their lot with a clanking noise everytime we hit the brakes. I know nothing about mechanical details, all I know is, it’s never good news to hear noises. We didn’t think much of it at the time cause the mother-​in-​law was visiting (she was in fact at the shop with us).
Fast forward to the week of March 22. The clanking noise is now worse. It sounds like we’re torturing an animal under the hood of the car everytime we step on the brakes. Called Openroad and they explained our front brakes were down to 30% at the time of last service and that sound was cause by the rotor and some other metal. We were then quoted $ 375 + taxes. I wasn’t happy with the quote especially after having just spent about $ 250 a month and a half ago.
I decided to look around. A chain brake place in Pomo tells me that sound indeed has everything to do with brakes/​rotor and if it isn’t fixed, it will be more expensive replacing the rotor. Quoted the same price. Westcoast Toyota in Pitt Meadows confirms this, but further explains that the rotor can be «machined» (if possible) to save us costs of replacing altogether. Quoted $ 100 less so I booked and yesterday, voila. No more noises and brake pads replaced yesterday at $ 275 with taxes.
Question 1. Why is Westcoast Toyota able to do the same fix for a $ 100 less?
Question 2. Why did Openroad Toyota not clue in to a car making weird braking noises at an in-​depth service appointment? Why would they not mention the noises to me?
I had a bad conclusion. By the time I got the car back to them, the rotor (or whatever it is) will «need» to be replaced. And looking back, we’ve always been charged way more than the estimate. A $ 65 service appointment becomes $ 85-​$ 100. A $ 200 one becomes $ 265. And I’m so mad they let the car go despite the noises. I can’t trust them anymore. And that’s when you know it’s time to break up and take my car to Westcoast Toyota.
Incidentally, if you venture into reading the «filtered reviews», most of them are bad. Just sayin’.

Little Red needed a day at the spa (the car not my wife) so I decided to try these guys for a change.
Work included after warranty seat cushion replacement and a oil change. For price I can’t say if it’s expensive or cheap, I think the oil change was $ 49 which seems like a good deal to me.
The part that I did appreciate is their little Internet café. In their waiting area they have a row of desks you can use for your laptop so you can work (or Unilocal) while you wait for your car. This setup along with the complementary Internet made it a breeze to get things done, the wait was hardly noticeable.
They estimated the wait to be 3 hours, they had my car out clean from a courtesy wash in 2, with this service I’m sure I’ll be back.

An ok experience overall. We’re very happy with our vehicle (Prius). It was decently prep’d (a few minor oversights, no big deal), and they replaced 12 volt battery (vehicle had been sitting on the lot quite a while).
The salesmen were, well…: salesmen, but still managed to be helpful and courteous. In the main a positive experience.
Except:
The bill was intitially written up with «documentation fee» clearly and specifcally noted as being «included». Then we were shunted over to another desk, the bill re-​written on a dealership-​specific form, and «included» became «$ 295».
I raised heck, and after some run-​around the $ 295 was taken off, but we were made to feel this was a special favour to us, that *we* were off-​base, and so on.
This practice is out-​and-​out deception, be careful with these guys.
One other thing:
Soon after purchase I was on the hunt for snow tires on rims. The parts department of this dealership told me my only option for rims was Prius alloys, very expensive.
They even explained that Prius is Toyota’s «flagship» vehicle, and they don’t want them being on the road with lowly steel rims…
Exasperated, I emailed every dealership I could find locally, posing the question.
Westminster Toyota camer through for me, with Michelin X-​Ice monted on black steel *Corrolla* rims. Thumbs up to them!

In the ongoing quest to purchase a Prius, this dealership was ok to deal with. They had a nice covered showroom which made it easy to look at the selection in a weather proof way.
The salesman was knowledgeable about the feature set, but there was no flexibility on price. The trade-​in manager was semi-​flexible. But not enough. We couldn’t reach a deal I was happy with, and since they didn’t have the exact car I wanted in stock (trim line and colour) we put the negotiation on hold until they could check availability.
It was on to the next…
