This place is very small, 8 to 9 tables call ahead if your with many friends. Don’t let small size of the place fool you. The chef if very good and the staff are friendly to tourist. I had the lamb with cusco and I was not disappointed, very delicious dish. Can’t wait to come back and try other plates.

Food was amazing. The flavor and seasoning is spot on! Highly recommend this restaurant. The seafood was delightful and the beef bourguignon was excellent!

This bistro was fabulous during our recent trip to Québec City. A rare find, off the beaten path… away from the tourists. We loved it so much that we went back twice during our 4-day vacation! Both times, we had the black sesame encrusted salmon Tataki(divine). Once, we had the ravioli with Veal and, the other evening, we tried the sea scallops over asparagus. All of our meals were exquisite. Don’t miss the Crumble of the Day for dessert – ours was rhubarb and strawberries!

Ordered the breakfast at this café. The service is good. I ordered the Spanish omelette which wasn’t bad. Overall nice place to be.

Wonderful lunch, good wine selections and friendly service… A very small and quaint spot to experience true French crepes and food. Enjoy!

Friendly service. Very fresh and tender crab-cake but a bit overpriced at $ 15. Mushroom ravioli and boulonnaise soup were very flavorful. Clean restroom. Would recommend.

this was a charming establishment away from the touristy places(a block or two away at least). it was a quiet place only a few other costumers besides us — in fact the place next door was packed but, don’t be fooled this place is where it’s at. we got recommend to this place and were happiest we followed the recommendation. we sat outside and peeked indoors at the owner chef while he was cooking(always a good sign). ordered a soup and delicious raviolis — lamb. the sauce was so light yet rich and the pasta tasted homemade. the soup was flavorful. for my main dish I had the cod. perfectly cooked in a light butter sauce. my dinner date had meat which he enjoyed as well. go here if you are visiting !!!

I have just left this restaurant and feel compelled to write having had such a fabulous experience. The restaurant is next to a much larger, smarter, looking place and we very nearly passed it by, but so pleased we took a chance as it was quite the best meal and service we’ve had in Quebec. The food was just scrumptious, the beef carpaccio starter particularly melt in the mouth beef with sweet/sharp Parmesan and delicious pesto flavours. The special Boullabaise was heavenly, deep intense soup base with plenty of seafood and delicious homemade rouille. The mushroom ravioli was filled with earthy and rich flavours. Also worth noting was the wine list, which had some well chosen and reasonable priced options. To top off our great evening, the small and intimate atmosphere could not have been better serviced, with warm, welcoming staff and a great view onto the chef in the kitchen.

Our last dinner in Canada was at Du Cap and it was EXQUISITE and not that it matters to us at all, it was very reasonably priced! The scallops were so good we ordered a 2nd plate. Also had the escarot which was excellent. We shared an order of the fixed menu… spinish soup, bison raviolis, crème caramel, all very very good. Not to mention the friendly, attentative workers. Thanks for helping us end our Canada trip on a high note… Merci beaucoup!!! We might be back at 9:25pm for more, before the kitchen closes… LOL!

Food gets a 3, the service gets a 5. Portions are skimpy for the price. We left a bit hungry, even with the prixe fix. The women working here are very kind. We both had the prix fixe. Wine was good. Appetizers: Salmon Pâté: Not bad, nothing special, just fresh Goat Cheese tart: Not bad but would not have been worth it as an appetizer Main dishes: (New England) Fish Stew: Not sure why they called this a New England style fish stew when it had a whole lot more bang than that. A whole lot of fish. Could have had some more spices to flavor the soup. Bison Ravioli with mushroom sauce: Ravioli were properly made, sauce was delicious, filling was fine. I believe it was a half-portion order for the prix fixe(something between 6 and 8 Ravioli, I forget.) Dessert: Crème Caramel: Pretty good, not the best. Had some type of alcohol as well which was a bit different but a welcome change Rice pudding: was topped with candied orange and flavored with saffron. Not a fan of candied orange but the rice pudding was OK

Ok, so this is really just a four star for food, but it’s such a warm, intimate and genuine place that we think it’s a best bet if you are in the neighborhood. The people couldn’t be nicer. We went with a party of 8 and they took great care of us. Some of the dishes… Lamb shank, bison ravioli w mushrooms and soups were excellent. The duck was only so so. Desserts were excellent. It’s also more like $$$ at dinner time.

Five stars for old town quebec dining — especially relative to a lot of the other options around this part of town. Just far enough off the main drag to feel quaint but still an easy walk from most anywhere. Went here on a Friday night after too many lunches/dinners of the same ol French onion soup and steak frites and were delightfully surprised. The menu was short but had great options for all tastes. I had the cream of asparagus soup followed by a half order of the buffalo stuffed ravioli with wild mushrooms. My husband had a half order of the salad with sautéed chicken livers then the cod dish. All four items were delicious. The soup was well seasoned and very flavorful without being too creamy. The chicken liver salad had about 5 livers and the balsamic salad dressing cut the richness which was great. Both main courses were delicious and we both cleaned our plates. The portion sizes were spot on. Just enough to fill you up while leaving room for desert. We had the crème brûlée(with khalua and baileys) and the profiteroles. The only complaint we had about the entire meal was that the crème brûlée custard could have been slightly thicker — the flavor was amazing though and made up for it. All in all a great cozy place if you want to get at least a little off of the heavily trafficked areas of the old town.

It was bound to happen. You cannot be in any major city for 6 days and not have one terrible experience. Well this was ours. If you are looking for a place run by Satanic Gypsies then this is your Bistro The place looked inviting(for a second or third choice) as Toast and Panache were booked and both are excellent. We left our son’s stroller outside and entered an empty dining room(as everyone was outside enjoying the night air). We were greeted by Witch Hazel herself, silk due-rag and all. She proceeded to ask me if I had read the menu before entering, she then repeated herself again as to suggest that this«bistro» was too high end to bring a child. I then informed her we were staying at Auberge St-Antoine and had been dining at Panache and Toast for the previous two evenings. Those restaurants are 10x the restaurant as this Devil’s Diner. Anyway, I digress. The only table inside then intervened and stated the food was wonderful and to join them(after I specifically asked Witch Hazel if the food was any good — because she was clearly trying to run us off). She then broke down and seated us. That’s where it gets good. She left us sitting for 20 minutes without even taking a drink order. We then informed her that we were ready to order dinner but she was more concerned with fixing the menu after my son got a little bored and took the cover off of it. She then disappeared again into the back to adjust the menu. It was at that point we said enough, collected our belongings(and my Platinum American Express) and left. Again, this was the ONLY horrible experience in what is a beautiful and romantic city filled with fantastic dining experiences and wonderful hotels. Most places are welcoming and offer stupendous service. But NOTHERE!!! I would suggest checking the kitchen before ordering, just in case the soup du jour is Hansel and Gretel consume. ;)

Question: «What does Heaven taste like?» Answer: the goat cheese and asparagus savory crêpe from Café Bistro Du Cap! Even if you don’t like goat cheese or Asparagus or crepes even, your whining annoying friend who complained the WHOLE way up to Canada will shut up, smile and say: «Oh YEEEAAAHH… What’s this called again Claude?» Seriously, I speak with some authority here since the 4 main reasons I go to Quebec are: 1. The Crepes 2. The Crepes 3. Did I mention the Crepes! 4. The Architecture of the old city is not bad either but not as good as the crepes You have never had Crepes until you come to Quebec! They do Crepes like Chinese people do Dim Sum and White people do Heavy Metal. It’s just in the Genes or something. And this place, in my humble opinion, has the best Crepes in all Quebec! Maybe because the Chef is like a cooking version of Rain Man, or that is(or seems) a mom and pop place more concerned about their business reputation then the bottom line(Yeah…your not in America anymore), or that the freshest ingredients are brought in daily, or just some je né sais quoi quality that can’t be duplicated. But stop here on any trip to Quebec!(That’s what I do) particularly if you want to mollify a very annoying friend who you will never take anywhere ever again. One Tip for improvement tho: When ever I come here(or anywhere else in Quebec) the staff thinks I am Québécois and start talking to me in French. FYI: Not all Americans are fat and loud. Some of us are just loud. So next time you meet a tall, skinny guy, with a big European head, don’t assume he is one of you and say to him; «Je déteste les Américains. Ils sont tous tellement grosse et stupide.» He will just leave you a petite gratification :)

Everything was brilliant. Food: I went for it — and have nothing but delight about ordering the salad with chicken liver grilled in balsamic vinegar. The cream of asparagus soup was a wonderful start. My only regret, sharing my pear and chocolate crêpe with my husband… Service — warm, friendly and funny.

Really 2 ½. Attentive service and so-so food. Shepherds pie light on vegetables, crêpe was too heavy until partially unwrapped and excess tossed aside and then OK(chicken filling included gristle), cream of vegetable soup was excellent. Really 2 ½ stars.

Absolutely perfect. We were surprised to find such a hidden gem. I think it’s a mom and pop shop. We were a bit hesitant at first, since we were the only customers there around 1pm but we decided to trust the reviews from Unilocal and tripadvisor and give this place a try anyway. Thank god we did. The crepes were extraordinary. One of the members in our party said the he’s «never had anything like it». I had the goat cheese and asparagus savory crêpe. Just fantastic! Make sure you get a couple of crepes to try. I really regret I didn’t get another one now. :(

This was my favorite meal in Quebec. The space is small, simply decorated, inviting, and cozy. Its off the main tourist drag on a quite street which was great. The staff, including the owner, was very friendly and attentive. We had the Beef Carpaccio, Buffalo Ravioli, Leg of Lamb, and Coffee Crème Brulee – Everything was fantastic!!! The flavors were wonderful and the everything was perfectly cooked, especially the lamb. The butter, cream sauce on the buffalo ravioli sauce was amazing! They also made the best café au late I’ve ever had and the coffee crème brûlée was the perfect end to our meal. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the city.
