Love the vibe and the food! The pitcher of lemonade is s adorable and the pickle jars are super cute. Great selection of food and drinks.

Cute brunch spot right in the heart of old Quebec City. We went as a staff of the Fairmont hotel recommended this spot and said it was a must try before we leave.
My first impressions of the place was that it had a franchised feeling and I was a little turned off by that as I was imaging a quaint little brunch mom and pop type of place.
Needless to say though, the staff were overwhelmingly friendly and warm. The breakfast options come with either coffee, espresso, café du latte or hot chocolate.
I ordered the spinach crêpe with mushrooms and ham. My boyfriend ordered the duck crêpe. Both portions were large and came with a side of potatoes, the duck came with a (cranberry?) Cake and caramel sauce. Though the dishes were rich they were not heavy as we expected. We left with bellies full. Both breakfasts were $ 40 or so total.

I am a vegetarian. The first time I tried their mac and cheese with vegetables, I was totally in love. I am coming back to Quebec in March for 4 days. I plan to eat it every night while I am there. I have had many amazing things at this restaurant, but that mac and cheese is my all time favorite.

We don’t get to Quebec City often, but when we do, we always try to make time to visit Cochon Dingue in the old city. There are two restaurants so it can be confusing but this one is the original, not the petite.
Anyway, the food is good. My wife and I had the ham and mushroom crepes which were excellent, my grandson had the waffle, and half of the steak which his father shared with him. The waffle was good, and the steak was phenomenal. They ordered the sauce on the side, and the steak was so good they never touched the sauce. Our granddaughter ordered Eggs Benedict and my daughter had the gluten free pasta. Both meals exceeded expectations. It was nice to visit a place in the afternoon and still be able to get breakfast items. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were on a tight schedule having to get back to a hockey tournament and everyone went out of their way to make sure we got in and out quickly. We can’t wait to go back to Quebec City and stop here again.

Yes, there are two of them and yes they’re down the street from one another. The petit version is your fast food, sandwich to go place with very limited seating. If you’re looking for a more relaxed dining experience and somewhere to sit, you’ll want to grab a table here.
You’ll get your fair share of Canadian food here, but it’ll be a twist on what you may be thinking of. Unfortunately you won’t be able to get original poutine here, but will be served something even more filling and chocked full of meat.

Service wasn’t the best but the menu was quite diverse. Fries came cold and temperature all around was a bit of an issue but the Savoury Crème brûlée was actually delicious and super satisfying. The spinach crepes were more pancakes then crepes and again incredibly rich. Portions are not small and the place is pretty bustling so reservations neccessary.

Great brunch spot in the lower town of Quebec City. Excellent starting point to get your energy before walking around all day. Can get pretty busy, so go in and reserve a table first. There are a bunch of shops in the surrounding area to keep you occupied.
Staff was very friendly, and my coffee cup was never empty. Good portion size, the food was very filling. If not for the three cups of coffee I had, probably would’ve taken a nap :)

English speakers stay away. Worst service ever. Order was all wrong and no one cares. Too many examples to list.

Great breakfast at a good value. Get out of your hotel and stroll downhill. They have a great deal on Friday’s. Full breakfast with coffee or latte for $ 8. Friendly and efficient staff.

J’ai bien aimé le cochon dingue mais j’ai trouvé les prix assez élevés.
Comptez au minimum à 20 – 25 $ par tête.
J’ai goûté les côtes levées (alias ribs) au sirop d’érable, excellentes. Elles étaient accompagnées d’une bonne salade et de frites.
Je n’ai pas grand chose à redire sur la qualité du plat. La salade était bien assaisonnée. La viande était de qualité et bien cuite.
Mon seul regret est donc le prix. 23 $ pour le demi rack et 30 $ pour le rack complet. Ajoutez à cela une boisson et on dépense vite plus que prévu. Sans parler des formules.
Un dernier petit mot sur le service qui, bien qu’adorable, était particulièrement lent ce jour là. Même avec un restaurant à moitié vide, un plat a été oublié à notre table de 4 … heureusement que nous n’étions pas pressés.
Dans l’ensemble, le cochon dingue vaut le coup. Né vous attendez juste pas à un petit repas sur le pouce.

Wonderful place for breakfast or brunch. I had an amazing egg Benedict with salmon and a hot chocolate. The location is great too! Right next to petite Champlain.

We ended up at Cochon Dingue on the recommendation of our tour guide in Quebec City; she said that it was an authentic Québécois bistro that was more local than touristy. It was very good, and we were satisfied with the selection for a lunch after a morning of walking all over Old Town on the tour.
The restaurant is located right off of the main little shopping street in Lower Town in Quebec City. This is the street that is always pictured on the postcards with the Funiculaire in the background and the lights strung overhead. The entrance on that side has you enter the restaurant and then walk down a flight of steps, then you find yourself in a very welcoming restaurant with light streaming in through the windows and all of the hustle and bustle of a Parisian bistro!
We were sat in a nice little alcove room overlooking their outdoor seating and a very pretty public park. The service was very prompt and efficient, also very good for what we generally found in Quebec, where service can be a bit «hands-​off». The staff were very friendly.
My wife had a hot chocolate with her meal, whilst I went for a Cava… who doesn’t love bubbles with a bistro lunch, after all! For our meals we both did the lunch special which allowed us to choose from a variety of appetizers (they call them entrees) and pair it with an entrée (main course as they call it there). We both went for the French Onion Soup, and I am sure glad that we did — WONDERFUL! For the mains, she has a pulled pork mac and cheese, and I had steak frites. Both were very tasty, high quality for the price that we paid. The french fries were cooked perfectly! After lunch I had a cup of coffee and we sat back and people-​watched for a bit.
On the whole, I thought this place was a wonderful find… good service, solid food, and an authentic, enjoyable ambiance. Give it a shot the next time you are in Quebec City!

Excellent experience. Easily a 4.5 brunch spot off off rue Champlain.
We’d been here on a prior trip to QC and liked it so much I think we ate here twice! (Sacrilege I know) Well, it lived up to our memories because we loved it again. One of my colleagues was so enamored by it that we almost dined here twice – again!
My favorite feature is their sweet and savory section. It’s about time this was recognized as a basic food group! We opted for the delicious one which included a duck confit crêpe topped with a poached egg and hollandaise, potatoes and french toast. The plate was everything you’ve (or at least, I’ve) ever dreamed of and more in a brunch dish! The confit was excellent and perfectly complemented by the egg, crêpe and hollandaise. This was served with french toast which a maple vanilla syrup which was to die for. My friend was very tempted to take the leftover sauce as a shot to finish it off!
My husband ordered the breakfast poutine which was wonderfully savory and flavorful. I’d recommend his item also, but I’m partial to the sweet/​savory menu.
Le Cochon may strike you as a touristy spot given its location and the look of their menu, but don’t be fooled. The food is delicious and the service is up to par! Don’t miss this on your visit to QC.

I was expecting a bit more from the food but it turned out to be a bit of a tourist trap.
Food:
Seafood pot pie: Good flavor and it had a decent amount of seafood in there.
Steak and fries: Wasn’t spectacular, but decent. The fries were fried perfectly btw.
Prices are high but you expect that in this location. Service was a bit slow although friendly (you are here to people watch anyway…). Maybe I should have ordered the ribs, this place is named crazy «Cochon» after all.

I have had a lot of good meals in Quebec City but my favorite was today’s breakfast. We had shared a French crêpe stuffed with duck, cranberry French toast and a poached egg, we both loved it. Andree-​Anne was our server and was so helpful, giving us her opinion on what we should order. Meeting people like Andree-​Anne makes our Quebec City experience even more memorable.

Un bel endroit, effet bistrot avec les serveurs en tenue matin. Outré la cadre, les plats sont décevants. Un rapport qualité prix quand même élevé car 18 $ pour un petit fish & chips ou encore 16 $ pour deux saucisses qui ont l’air de saucisses à hot dog.
Bref, avec tous les bons commentaires que nous avons lu, nous avons été dessus de nos plats pour une facture salée à la fin.

Went there on a friend’s recommendation for brunch and i sure am glad that I did.
First of all, I really liked the uniforms of the waiters. It is blue and white stripes dress which is really cute.
I ordered egg white omelette which was great. They ask you for an option of jam or apple butter.
Go for the almond butter, its delicious, alongwith their organic bread.
Their prcies are not high and all their meals come with fruits, hash browns and a choice of coffee or latte or hot chocolate.
I got the beverage replaced with tea instead of coffee and they did it willingly. Their hot chocolate is a speciality, so do try that.
The place was very spacious and had covered patio with the right amount of sun and shade.
Overall, great experience and I am going there again on my way to Old Quebec.

After taking a ride down the funicular and wandering around Le Petit Champlain a bit, we had dinner at Le Cochon Dingue, a very nice place that’s recommended in the Fodor’s Guide and, of course, by many of our fellow Unilocalers.
First things first — MAKE A RESERVATION. Restaurants in Vieux-​Québec are difficult to get into on weekend nights without one, and we waited for about 40 minutes before we were seated at a nice table outside the restaurant, laid out very much in the French bistro style. Our server Louis-​Philip was great, greeting us promptly and constantly making sure we had what we needed, doing it in a way that was attentive but never intrusive. He also paced the meal very well, never rushing us, making for a leisurely dinner.
The wait was definitely worth the while once our food arrived at the table. I had the steak frites — a nice cut of meat (get the 250 g size) that was well-​trimmed and cooked just to my liking. The steak comes along with a choice of sauces (go for the pepper) and a generous helping of frites. My friend had a huge chicken Caesar salad that was very well prepared. The evening ended with a slice of carrot cake for me — a moist cake where the cinnamon (and perhaps some nutmeg?) came through, served with a vanilla crème. My friend had the double chocolate cake with the same thick vanilla crème — thumbs up. The desserts come in half-​portions, which is what we got and is more than enough to end the meal with that bit of sweet that you’re craving.
The only thing I could really find fault with is the sangria, which was too sweet. It actually brought back memories of Hawaiian Punch for both of us. That aside, it was a very nice evening hanging out, slowing down, and enjoying this very cool part of Québec’s vibe. Check it out — and don’t forget to make that reservation!

After popping up on the radar a few times, we decided to try Le Cochon Dingue for brunch on Saturday. It’s located in Old Quebec and in the midst of many other restaurants and shops. There is also a good amount of outside seating here which is perfect for the warmer months.
From a food standpoint, I was a bit disappointed given how highly recommended the place seemed to be for brunch. I had an order of Apple French toast with a side of baked beans. The French was bordering on cold, which took away from the meal. Food temperature aside, it just wasn’t that special overall. The baked beans weren’t bad, but they weren’t great either. Overall this was a pretty forgettable meal and quite disappointing given all the great food options in the area.
One bright spot is the incredibly helpful and polite wait staff. I know it can be highly annoying translating everything to English, but the wait staff did it with politeness and were extremely helpful. They also gave recommendations which helped us navigate.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t anything special here, but the outside setting makes it a good place to maybe grab a drink and try a desert. Otherwise, I would venture elsewhere.

Zone touristique, donc pas mal de restos à la communication soignée pour attirer le chaland. On pensait que le Cochon Dingue passerait outré, et bien non.
Vin de la maison vraiment pas terrible, terrine un peu fade et saucisses indigestes.

Je suis un habitué en général des divers restaurants du Groupe Restos Plaisirs. Le service est toujours A+ dans cette chaîné. J’y suis allé dans ce cas, pour une 2e année, pour leur promotion du Carnaval de la Poutine. J’ai goûté la poutine au confit de canard/​sauce au poivre et celle classique avec saucisse So-​Cho à la poutine. Toutes deux étaient excellentes. Contrairement à l’année dernière, les frites étaient bien chaudes et croustillantes. Bön ratio sauce/​frites, elle né baignaient pas trop. J’aurais pris un peu plus de fromage par contre. Parfait accompagné d’une bonne bière!

Super déjeuner et bon service, mais… En hiver, il faut se tenir loin des portes d’entrée car l’endroit devient glacial dès qu’elles s’ouvrent. Ça gâche un peu un repas…

Très bon mais un peut gras mais ses un belle endroit et les déjeuner sont vraiment bon.

Je n’ai pas été emballé plus que ça par ce lieu si connu de la ville de Québec. Oui le service est au petit soin mais très sincèrement je n’ai pas apprécié mon tartare de saumon à sa juste valeur car il manquait d’assaisonnement et j’ai même préféré ma salade avec sa vinaigrette qui eux m’ont plus et avaient un bon goût. En amatrice de saumon j’ai été très déçue, je m’attendai à un tartare succulent mais peut être suis-​je trop dure … J’aurai voulu goûter à leur brunch qui avait l’air succulent mais ce sera pour une prochaine fois et surtout pensez à y aller avant midi pour le brunch ! Un lieu sympas, qui propose une belle carte mais j’ai vu mieux …

Bön resto style bistro. J’y suis allé déjeuner dimanche matin. Beau menu, belle variété de plats typiques mais aussi de plats moins traditionnels. C’est ce que j’aime des cochon dingue. Je vous recommande pour le brunch entre autres.
L’endroit est magnifique, belle terrasse qui donne sur le vieux Québec. Ensoleillée le matin.

Nous avons eu la chance d’être invités à une soirée dégustation dans le cadre de la seconde édition du carnaval de la Poutine du Cochon Dingue, qui se déroule jusqu’au 13 Avril.
Étant de grands amateurs de Poutine, on né pouvait pas laisser passer cette belle occasion!
Il y avait donc 8 Poutines à déguster: la Poutine déjeuner, la Régulière, la Poutine Spagat, la Général Tao, la Tout Cochon, la Homard et la Poutine dessert.
Nous avons débuté par la Poutine déjeuner, composée de pommes de terre rissolées, mélange de saucisse, jambon et oignons hachés, sauce hollandaise, fromage en grains et oeuf au plat. Elle est parfaite pour attaquer une grosse journée! Elle peut être également dégustée au dîner, mais peut être un peu riche pour le souper. C’est la seule Poutine du menu à être servie en tout temps.
Le second service était composé de la Homard et de la Régulière. Que dire de la Homard… tout est parfait dans cette Poutine: de gros morceaux de homard frais, une sauce homardine à se damner et un fromage Pied-​de-​Vent absolument magique. On pourrait croire que mélanger de tels ingrédients à de vulgaires frites est du gâchis mais le tout se marie incroyablement bien. Un gros coup de cœur!
La Régulière se distingue de par sa sauce relevée au goût particulier, très différente de ce que l’on peut goûter partout ailleurs. Si vous êtes un indécrottable des Poutines classiques, celle-​ci vous comblera certainement.
Le troisième service nous proposait de goûter à la Tout Cochon et à la Coin-​Coin. Je né suis pas une grande fan de porc, mais je dois avouer que pour un amateur c’est le paradis: frites, fromage en grains, sauce, effiloché de porc BBQ et saucisses enrobées de bacon.
J’avais hâte de goûter la Coin-​Coin, et je n’ai pas été déçue. Le confit de canard mélangé à la sauce poivrée est absolument délicieux. Très bon choix encore une fois.
Le troisième service nous a fait découvrir les deux dernières Poutines salées du menu: la Général Tao et la Poutine Spagat.
Ce sont les deux que nous avons le moins apprécié. La Général Tao comportait selon nous de trop gros morceaux de poulet, ce qui fait qu’ils n’étaient pas assez croustillants. D’autres personnes autour de la table on beaucoup aimé, alors je pense que ça dépend vraiment des goûts de chacun.
La sauce de la Poutine Spagat était délicieuse mais un peu trop épaisse à mon goût pour une Poutine. Le fromage en grain pourrait être remplacé par du fromage râpé gratiné pour plus d’originalité et un meilleur rendu général.
Le repas s’est terminé par la Poutine dessert. Nous avions le choix entre une sauce au caramel ou une sauce au chocolat. Les frites avaient été judicieusement remplacées par une génoise moelleuse et le fromage par de petites guimauves. Gros coup de cœur pour la sauce au caramel. J’ai moins aimé celle au chocolat qui ressemblait plus à un sirop à dessert.
Si nous devions faire un top 3, ce serait la Homard, la Coin-​Coin et la Poutine déjeuner.
L’ordre dans lequel ont été servi les Poutines était parfait. Nous avons aussi beaucoup apprécié rencontrer le chef après le repas pour lui faire part de nos suggestions.
En bref, nous avons passé une très agréable soirée et fait de belles rencontres.

C’est vraiment très bon et copieux.
Il y en a pour tous les goûts. Ce n’est pas très cher. Environ 24 $ pour une très belle assiette brunch, du cidre, et un jus d’orange. Je le conseil a ceux qui ont envie d’un bon petit brunch tranquille à Québec.

Le rendez-​vous du dimanche pour un brunch à Québec. Comment vous dire. Vous pouvez passer un temps monstre à choisir ce que vous allez prendre. Dans les vitrines, des gâteaux à la crème, des tartes aux bleuets, des sucreries à n’en plus pouvoir. Tout est absolument alléchant.
Mais le cochon dingue, c’est aussi du salé. J’ai un souvenir magique de la sauce à l’érable dans laquelle je trempais mes pommes de terres sautées. Un délice. Je recommande le chocolat chaud à l’ancienne, il est vraiment bon.
C’est sûr, quoi que vous preniez, vous né ressortirez pas le ventre léger. C’est lourd. En terme de tarif, ce n’est pas donné, donné (entre 15 et 25 dollars), et je conseille de réserver, même si vous n’êtes que 3.

J’y suis allée quelques fois au cours des années pour le souper, mais plus récemment, j’ai mangé au Cochon Dingue pour le déjeuner. La gaufre que j’ai mangée était très bonne. Bien garnie de petits fruits comme des bleuets, fraises, et banane avec crème Chantilly et bien sûr du sirop d’érable, ce déjeuner a plus que combler ma faim matinale. Les œufs que ma sœur a commandés avaient eux aussi l’air appétissants, mais pas autant que mon assiette de gaufres. On a pu manger notre déjeuner dehors sur la terrasse car il faisait beau et le restaurant n’était pas trop achalandé comme il l’est souvent. Je vais assurément y retourner dans les prochaines semaines, car j’aime beaucoup l’atmosphère qui me fait penser un peu à l’Europe (et aussi parce que j’adore leurs frites allumettes).

Impossible de faire un séjour à Québec sans passer pas le Cochon Dingue. On y vient au début pour ses desserts (La tarte surprise avec ses fraises !) ou ses différentes manières de cuisiner les moules (indisponible en été il me semble) mais tout y es très bon ! Le service est super rapide et évidemment d’une parfaite gentillesse, même cas il y a plein de monde.
Alors, évidement, le pur gastronome né se rendra peut-​être pas là mais on aimerait vraiment connaître des endroits comme celui-​ci dans toutes les destinations touristiques !

Premier restaurant des Cochon Dingue à Québec, le restaurant du quartier Petit-​Champlain est sans aucun doute celui ayant le plus de charmes. Reconnu pour la qualité de son menu, ce sont ses desserts qui m’ont attiré là la première fois. Depuis, chaque fois que je passé dans le quartier en soirée je né peux faire autrement et m’arrêter pour manger un morceau de gâteau double chocolat ou une pointe de tarte au véritable sucre à la crème et framboise.

L’un de mes restaurants préférés, on en retrouve d’autres succursales sur Lebourgneuf et ailleurs dans la région. Une cuisine française avec certaines touches de québécisme. L’un de mes plats favoris (que je prends relativement souvent), c’est les flammekueches. I s’agit d’une recette flamande et consiste en gros en une pizza, croute fine, mais au lieu de la sauce tomates, c’est de la crème fraiche. C’est une tarte garnie de lardons, de fromage et d’oignons. C’est à faire damner les saints comme dirait ma grand-​mère!
Le service est toujours impeccable et il est possible d’aller y bruncher! C’est toujours bon à savoir. Les prix sont vraiment raisonnables pour la qualité des plats.

Endroit de prédilection pour l’amateur de cochonnailles. Il fait assurément partie des restaurants les plus fréquentés par la masse touristique du Vieux-​Québec. La qualité des aliments n’en est pas pour autant altérée. Il faut définitivement venir plus d’une fois pour apprécier à sa juste valeur le Cochon Dingue. Aimer la bonne chère est aussi un pré-​requis indispensable, car le beau cochon doré en guise d’enseigne, justement, saigne pour notre appétence. Les côtes levées maison fumées au bois d’érable sont un classique à s’en lécher les doigts, et j’avoue avoir de la misère à porter mon attention sur un autre repas. Pourtant, ce né sont pas les spécialités qui manquent ici: poutine au confit de canard, burger de «pulled pork «, burger de bœuf grillé et cheddar, bref, le carnivore en moi qui aimerait bien se tempérer est présentement en train de saliver.
Il né m’est cependant jamais venu à l’esprit de venir y déjeuner. Ce serait sans doute une bonne façon de commencer la journée…

Le Cochon Dingue est une chaine locale de restaurants qui imite un peu une brasserie ou un bistro français. Je recommande particulièrement l’endroit pour le petit déjeuner.
Le Steak-​Frites est un classique de l’endroit.

Une valeur sûre, bien agréable en famille aussi. Les +: Poutine au canard, côtes levées. Né partez pas sans prendre le dessert, petit conseil :)

Nous voulions allé au restaurant dans le Petit-​Champlain, mais c’était complet. Alors nous sommes allés à celui qui est sur René-​Lévesque, au coin de Cartier.
Le restaurant est petit et mignon, les tables né sont pas trop rapprochées. Nous avons eu un bon service courtois.
J’ai commandé le Osso Buco de porc et c’était EXCELLENT. La viande fondait en bouche et la sauce était succulente! Par contre pour le dessert, j’ai pris la Rondelle des Nordiques et c’était très ordinaire. Mes amis ont pris les petits pots et c’était très bon!
Mais c’est un très bon restaurant à très bon prix.
