The easy to miss Tiers Temps, is a gem for vegetarians in a city of charcuteries. Situated on the second floor of the Méduse artist co-operative, this trendy hang-out is a favorite of local artists and students. The restaurant is also accessible directly from the stairs off Rue de la Chapelle. The menu changes seasonly to keep things fresh. This evening, my boyfriend and I enjoyed the vegetarian poutine and an order of veggie General«Tao» Tofu. Both were excellent. Great happy hour 17h-19h: 2 for 1 beers! Friendly service. Price was right. Definitely plan to return!

Went yesterday for lunch as they have outdoor seating and we had our dogs on vacation with us. The kitchen is only open from 11:30am-2:00pm. Which we found out after arriving at 3:00pm. Really?!? So the waitress ordered us snacks. She was not confident in her English and so we felt bad for not knowing French. She told us the snacks she did have and we ordered three. I thought it was odd she didn’t show us a menu. She also said she had smoothies and we each ordered one made with kale, hoping that would fill us up. The smoothies were in two tall thin glasses and were literally water, kale and mint that had been run through a blender. Very bland and chunky. Okay, we are drinking a salad. Fine. Next, our snacks came: 14 olives, some roast almonds and sunflower seeds and a small bowl of kale chips. We the it all, and asked for the bill. $ 24!!! I kid you not! We almost died. We found this place on the happy cow web page as we are vegans and it is tough to find vegan food in this city. So lesson learned, ALWAYS demand to see a menu to ensure the food(and drink) is in your price range. Shop around, you’ll find a Thai express on the corner of Rue-Notre-Dame-des-Anges and 175 that has much cheaper and tastier options. Good luck!
