Authentic Old style québécois cuisine! We
stopped here quick for a bowl of French onion soup and also had the escargot. It was the perfect lunch on a super windy cold day! Also wonderful to stop here at the end of our amazing weekend in Quebec City, as we’ve walked by it quite a few times!

We went the first night on our wandering journey and stopped in for a tour of the oldest house in Quebec. The staff were fantastic and encouraged us to come back the next day for the $ 20 lunch special.
It’s the oldest house in Quebec I believe and its such a neat venue, so many rooms, and its neat to try and think of what it looked like many years ago.
So the next day we went back for a traditional Quebec lunch.
The server was great, and helped us in choosing our meals and got us seated at a cozy table by the fire which was great as it was chilly outside.
We had the pea soup, and shared the meat pie, as well as the Sausage and beans, the soup with the break was a great start to warm us up from the outdoors, and the main dishes were warm and comforting.
BUT THEN THE DESSERTS… we asked to have the maple bread pudding and the maple sugar pie… both were FANTASTIC, the sauce on the bread pudding was amazing so delicious, and the sugar pie with the whipped cream on top was just SUPERB!
I would go back for desserts alone!

We attended this restaurant for dinner. We started with poutine, my first experience with authentic poutine, so I can’t make a comparison. I ordered the Trapper’s delight, bison stew and meat pie. The Bison stew was tender and flavorful, but the meat pie was amazing. It is made from several game meats and potatoes. It was incredibly flavorful, moist and tender. There is a «ketchup» (more of a tomato relish) that adds a great deal of flavor, but almost not necessary. I’ve never had anything like it and enjoyed it immensely.
My wife enjoyed three different cuts of tenderloin: bison, red deer, and wapiti. The meat was tender and not gamey at all.
For dessert I had the maple pie and my wife had a hot chocolate. The maple pie was amazing.
This experience is framed less as dining and more as a tour of ancient Quebec diet. That being said, the food was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is perfect for the culinary point of view. It is a great meal and a better experience.

CUTE place! The food is very comfort food, but comfortably delicious from all angles.
Star of the show was the bison and carrot spread you can get before your meal (if you chose it as your starter.) We got the chicken (which was like an open faced chicken pot pie) and the fish casserole and both were very tasty. I got the salad with cream and chives dressing. We both got the maple pie (yum!)
Overall I thought this was a great place to try some things I’ve never had before while dining in Quebec.

J’y vais chaque fois quand mes amis me visitent de l’étranger. Je suis d’accord si on dit qu’il est un resto touristique, c’est à dire, ça vaut la peine de l’essayer si vous êtes touristes. Le batiment très adorable avec un plafond assez bas comme une maison traditionelle, les plats anciens de bonne qualité et quantité, service excellent et très sympatique. C’est mieux d’y dîner (lunch), car bcp moins cher. Ce resto vous assure d’avoir une bonne expérience canadienne.

J’avais pourtant lu de bons avis … Mais ca n’a pas fonctionné avec moi. Quoi que le plat que j’ai choisi n’était pas mauvais du tout, du porc à l’érable et purée de pomme de terre. Mais j’ai trouvé ca bien trop banal ! Bien trop facile … Je n’ai malheureusement pas été la seule à être déçue, nous étions 4, et tous les 4 nous sommes accordés à dire que oui, nous avons connu mieux. Tout comme mon dessert, un sorbet à la poire, qui était certes bon, mais c’est ca, juste bon …
En revanche, le décor très rustique est vraiment sympa, la serveuse portait une robe assez folklorique, c’était mignon :) Mais voilà, quand on lit de bons avis, quand on voit que le restaurant apparaît dans un guide comme étant incontournable, ben on s’attend forcément à beaucoup, et finalement, c’est là qu’on est le plus déçu je pense.
Après je me dis que c’est supposé être de la cuisine rustique justement, et non pas très élaboré, on n’est pas dans du gastronomique, à la recherché de vraies saveurs, d’une bonne harmonie dans le plat et d’originalité (quoi que je me dis que tous les restaurants, peu importe comment ils se qualifient, devraient rechercher ca mais bon).
En bref, service correct, serveuse charmante et souriante. Cuisine bonne mais sans particularité, sans originalité.

J’ai beaucoup aimé le cadre traditionnel.
La vaisselle traditionnelle la cuisine traditionnelle.
J’avais l’impression de manger chez ma grand mère.
Le service était également excellent.
J’ajouterais quelques vins français dans la liste.
Sinon je recommanderai ce restaurant à mes amis sans problème.

Aux Anciens Canadiens est un restaurant où chaque touriste devrait s’arrêter lors d’un séjour à Québec. Dans une vielle maison bâtie en 1675, vous aurez l’occasion de manger des plats raffinés et typiquement québécois. Au menu, on y trouve des plats qui font penser au cliché québécois comme l’assiette «coureur de bois «(tourtière du Lac Saint-​Jean), ou le plat «caribou sauvage des Inuits «. Pour un bon repas à deux, soyez prêts à payer au moins 120 $, mais je peux quasiment vous garantir que vous né regretterez pas l’expérience.

Un restaurant bien populaire auprès des touristes! Comme j’en ai déjà été un, j’ai testé ce restaurant, et mon expérience fut assez positive!
Je dois dire avant tout que si vous avez des enfants, ce n’est probablement pas le meilleur endroit où les emmener. Les plats sont assez distingués, si je puis dire, et je né peux pas garantir qu’un enfant trouve son bonheur. Ceci dit, n’importe quel adulte (et jeune adulte) avec le portefeuille adéquat sera ravi! (Les prix sont assez, voire très élevé).
Le service était très professionnel et amical et la nourriture était très distincte! Ma visite là remonte à un moment déjà, mais je me rappelle avoir pris du canard et avoir beaucoup apprécié mon plat! Ma famille en garde un très beau souvenir aussi.
De plus, cette maison est la plus vieille de la ville de Québec! Alors c’est toujours quelque chose que vous pourrez raconter!

We went for lunch…
Really bad choice. The waitress rushing us up so we felt awkward. The wine that goes with lunch is just awful. Soup was tasteless, pâté not bad. Main dishes really terrible: overcooked meatballs and raw potatoes, Quebec pie cold, raw vegetables. Price is good (19,99CAD) but not worth it. I would rather go to Subway.
