We’ve been meaning to drop in for a while, but always seem to remember on Sunday, and Chop Stixs Sushi Train closes Sunday. We had a wonderful time there this evening — the train is a cool diversion — it cruises past the kitchen window and the chef puts your dish on a flat car that swings by your spot at the bar. The server(who, with her husband, owns the place), describes the sushi as Western — good for sushi virgins — but I don’t know that I’d make that distinction, I thought it was just nice and fresh and flavourful. We had a couple different kinds of maki, some tuna lettuce wraps, a chili garlic beef rice bowl, garlic ribs and a pot of green tea. We were too full for dessert and the bill came to a miserly $ 33.00, or about 2⁄3 of what we normally spend to feed us both at a sushi restaurant. So — I give Chop Stixs Sushi Train five starts because a) the food is excellent, b) the décor and the train are a nice change, c) the owners are really nice and d) the price represents really good value. Open Monday to Friday 11:30 to 2 and 4:30 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, noon to 4:00 p.m. Definitely drop by.
