Since starting a new job downtown, I wanted to find a comfortable place to grab a light lunch, and The Bistro really has hit the spot. The Bistro is a bit easy to miss — it has a modest storefront, and looks a bit dark from the outside. When you walk inside though, the business has a nice cozy feeling: wooden chairs and leather accented tables, as well as big comfy lounge chairs and 2-person booths, highlighted by local artwork on the walls. It’s a counter-service affair, and you can order coffee and espresso drinks, milkshakes and floats, plus an assortment of soups, sandwiches, salads, sweets and ice cream. They also do a breakfast first thing I the morning for the early risers and office crowd. The staff is always super friendly, and quick to clean a table or help where they can. Basically everything is made-to-order, so you’re going to get fresh food. An average lunch typically runs me about $ 10, a bit more if I opt for a latte instead of a pop, so the value is great too. This is definitely a place to check out if you’d like a change of pace from the fast food and pricey restaurants otherwise nearby. I understand they also do catering and they’re pretty accommodating.
