My wife and I decided to grab brunch this Sunday on a whim. We showed up to Ricky’s at 10:40 and we’re seated 5 minutes later. This is not bad considering it is a Sunday morning. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes before we even got coffee and this is only once we called a server from another section over and asked if anyone was working out section. The server was apologetic and took our full order then and there. We then waited for an hour and 15 minutes to get any food. The restaurant was busy but not to the point of warranting a wait as long as that. The food was fine– not bad but not great. The bacon was very dry– the kind you get in a buffet and the eggs were slightly undercooked. The one thing I must mention is the wonderful working of a server who I found out to be Courtney. She was the one that we had originally called over. She was very courteous when she found out were weren’t served yet. I also overheard her calming down a hostess when the girl was getting overwhelmed. In a calming tone, she said something along the lines«I know it’s busy but just take a deep breath and it will all be ok.» The personality and professionalism of this server, Courtney, is probably the only true thing I can commend about our experience.

I should say that I am a fan of Ricky’s and go to their locations fairly often. As an all day breakfast restaurant, I make the assumption that they know how to do breakfast right. On this particular Friday, the Friday day of the Labor Day weekend we decided to go for brunch at around 11:00am. Greeting and seating: We stood at the front for several minutes before a person with a cloth in their hand came over and said we should sit down for a few minutes. The restaurant was half empty but we could see that a lot of the tables were not cleared. We got seated and given a menu after about 10 minutes. What I would like it to be seated fairly quickly when the restaurant is half empty. I think the owner of this location would probably agree — or should. Seated with our menus, since I go there regularly I don’t need much time with the menu. The waitress finally came around with coffee after we were in the restaurant about 20 minutes. Seems off for a breakfast restaurant. Ordered and sat, and sat, and sat. We had our food after about 45 minutes. Fortunately for them it was fairly hot when it arrived, otherwise it would have gone back given the experience so far. Eggs in the Eggs Benedict were over cooked. Its a good thing I have a fairly high tolerance for range of «doneness». The rest was okay. Had to remind the waitress about the toast and water that I had also asked for. I would say to the management — you are either running a very disorganized operation or are very bad at scheduling staff. If staff let you down on a long weekend, they should be looking for work on Tuesday. Total bill was $ 40.00 so I expect that there will be a fairly good level of service for that price. Train your staff on the expectations of people coming in for breakfast. Take a look at what is happening in your restaurant. Empty, uncleared tables cost you money. I’ll be looking for Denny’s next time. Hoping they know what business they are in.

Nice«modern day» diner type restaurant just off the highway between Edmonton & Calgary. IT seems to be a new build nice and clean and neat. Good variety of food and it was well prepared.

Let’s be honest, if you’re driving through Gasoline Alley looking for a bite to eat, you’re not gonna be looking for some fine cuisine. You’re more likely just driving between Edmonton and Calgary and want something easy, simple, and filling, and for that Ricky’s pretty much fits the bill. We got the nachos made with tumbleweed chips to start, and I had the prime rib sandwich, both of which are fairly tasty, albeit the au jus for the sandwiches was on the salty side. The sandwich itself was very good, and actually tough to dip due to the sheer amount of meat on it. I ordered a long island iced tea to drink, and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Basically don’t come here expecting anything special, because it’s not. But it fills its niche, and it fills it decently well.

Well, for a fairly quiet restaurant at 7pm, the initial service was slow. Took about 10min before I was asked for a drink by that time I was ready to order. Burger and a beer for me. Beer, well that parts easy. I ordered the OldFashioned Bacon and Chedder Burger with Onion Rings. Burger was really good and the maple bacon help, the relish they used is good as well. the onion rings are basically grocery store frozen isle grade, and the sauce looks like something my kid crapped out, it tastes ok, but I opted to from these rings in Ketchup. That helped a bit. Glad I kept a few sips of beer to finish off. The service got better after the initial hump. Basically an average restaurant, it’ll do in a pinch. P. S. don’t eat the mint.
