The food is mediocre. Somehow they managed to mess up some simple menu items. Eg. Noodles are soggy. Extra water in rice pork paddy rice. Seaweed was cold in the middle.

The 3rd restaurant in the latest Deer Garden series because the 2nd restaurant was the most horrible restaurant(forgot the name). Here is my take on it. Out of all the fish noodle restaurants here in the Metro Vancouver area, I would probably say this one is the 2nd best one. I mean, do not get me wrong, the food was great and all. The soup was flavourful, the egg noodles were chewy and firm at the same time. The toppings were fresh and all, but for some reason, there is no zip to it. I would recommend coming here for a meal no doubt, but it just does not feel the same…

The cuttlefish balls suck. The taste was the equivalent of paper mache. The satay soup has almost no satay in it. The wind sand wings portion is laughable. Received 2 small wings for $ 2.25. And I ordered century egg in my soup. Got like 3 slivers of it… don’t waste your money here. Would not come back.

Two terrible encounters with this restaurant. 1. Ordered vegetable curry for takeout, found shriveled plastic inside — indicating that they had cooked the plastic WITH the curry which, when you think about it is extremely disturbing. Plastic when heated releases toxic chemicals which in some cases, have been linked to increased chances of developing cancer. I called back and asked for a refund, but they insisted that they make me another one and that I bring the curry with me as proof… I agreed, but I kind of wish I hadn’t because I felt really sick on the drive back to the restaurant. When I showed up, the waiter barely even looked at me, let alone apologize. 2. Called at 10:20 pm, and I asked for takeout, the waitress refused, saying their kitchen was closed at 10:30 pm. In the midst of me pointing out that it wasn’t yet 10:30, she hung up. Shocked(and thinking it may have been a mistake), I called back and someone picked up the phone. Upon hearing me say hello, she hung up again. I got pretty angry at how rude they were being and I called them again, to which she then picked up the phone and angrily asked«WHAT?» I asked her why she was being so rude to which her response was«We’re closed, what do you want me to do?» I talked to another waiter, who somehow managed to be even more offensive by yelling at me over the phone. In the end, I got the manager’s name and her name but never found the time to talk to him, as I will most definitely never, ever be back.

This café took over 鹿園’s old spot — the interior, the cutlery, everything is the same except staff and food. Thought I’d give them a try to see how they compare, and I was disappointed. We ordered the noodles(choose your own ingredients), garlic toast, and fried tofu. The soup was bland, noodles were mediocre at best. The toast was pretty good although it’s hard to screw up toast. Fried tofu isn’t bad either, so I’ll give them that. Ordered milk tea with my meal and it was lukewarm. If you care for free wifi, though, this place can give you that. Had to go to 鹿園(new location at Capstan Way) a few days later for a legit bowl of noodle soup so my memory of this place’s noodles can be erased. Sorry guys, try sourcing better ingredients & adding depth to your flavors(tom yum soup doesn’t mean lots of vinegar but that’s basically all I tasted), and take care of the details.

If you’re looking for a soup based meal on the dime… this is the place. Not sure if they take card as I paid with cash since it was cheap. Noodle bowl came in a timely manner. Customer service was awesome. Close to Abeerden station and open late which is another bonus point.

This is another noodle soup combo restaurant, with lot of western style rice and pasta dishes. Been here couple of times, my wife love their spicy soup and flat rice noodles, I tried their meat spaghetti, baked pork chop with rice and curry pork chop. The spaghetti is the best shot so far, curry is Japanese style which I do not like it. Seats are quite comfort and music in background isn’t too loud which I like it. Servers are very polite, and they give good advices when I ordered a dish which might take longer then expectation. Free wifi is a bonus. Overall, firebird café is a worth a try restaurant, but not all dishes are good.
