Love their online ordering for delivery/pickup! Delivery every day of the year, apparently.

Nice place to chill and eat Greek food. I ordered the Greek meatballs and it was good with the hummus dip.

Decided to give this place a try in Steveston! We walked in and it’s quite a cozy place. Our server was nice and very attentive. We ordered the half chicken, George’s style and an appy, spanakopita! The spanakopita was decent, it was missing a little zing but the pastry was so crispy! As for the half chicken, it was tender and fell off the bone. The potatoes had an intense lemon taste, the salad was seasoned well, and the rice was missing some flavor. Overall, it was a good experience and its definitely a lot of food so you should come here hungry!

My wife and I decided to wander about Steveston Vilage and take in the sights. Our walk made us hungry and I was in the mood for some Greek food. We decided we would try George’s Taverna. We got there around 1pm and we were seated right away by a friendly server/hostess. She was the only server in this intimate/small place. A couple of families were there already with their screaming children which wasn’t too much of a bother since we used to have children that age once. But my wife did remind me during lunch that she didn’t think our children were ever that rude and loud. I agreed. Anyway we did order a roast lamb with rice and a calamari entrée for my wife. We also got a complimentary order of pita bread which was nice. Now the food, according to my wife the calamari was just ok but lacking in quantity for $ 13 and she’s tasted better. The lamb which I ordered was ok and full of flavour. But that’s about it. Some portions of the lamb was not tender but overall it was ok. We did run out of tzatziki and asked for more. I was surprised to learn that she charged us extra for that which I was not pleased about since the amount they originally gave us was way too small to begin with. It is for that reason alone that we will not be going back. Almost $ 3 for two small extra orders of tzatziki is unreasonable. One other thing is that the décor is that of a fisherman’s boat and there are nets and what not hanging on the ceiling and the walls are adorned with some Greek tiles. The mishmash of this décor didn’t jive well. It needed to be opened up more since it was barely less than a 40 seater. There were too many walls which made this place much smaller than it needed to be. Once again, the server was awesome but the pricing for quality of the food was not worth it.

Tried to order delivery for the second time and the wait times were both 2 hours!!! I will definitely not call there again. DON’T ADVERTISE that you can deliver when your wait time is always 2 hours! WOW! Well now I am actually thankful that I didn’t order after reading all these negative reviews!!! GEORGE’S TAVERNA = Disappointment

The food here is so good and the portions fill you up. Although one time when I was there they were out of food… It was disappointing.

I dont understand how anyone can rate George’s so low. The food is amazing! the portions are huge, the taste is fantastic and george does it with a flare all of his own. Kismos is good, but Geroge has that homely mothers cooking taste that i find more attractive. The pricing is fair and once again YOUGET A LOT for what you pay for. The location is quaint and the service is nice. Try the chicken donair, lamb dinner, calamari!

We went here on Sunday right before 6pm and the whole restaurant was empty. It was super awkward because the wait staff and manager were all standing at the counter and staring at us. It was so quiet in there. I opened up Unilocal to search for Georges Taverna and saw all the bad reviews so we decided to leave. I excused myself and said, «Oh the menu is too rich for my tummy» just to be polite. The staff were all standing and still staring, which felt pretty uncomfortable for us. So relieved to step out the door. By the way, this place shouldn’t be one $ sign, it was pricier than that, ranging from $ 12 — $ 20+ dollars. We walked down to Dave’s Fish and Chips and the place had a huge line-up and was crowded, so we went there instead.

I guess George’s isn’t paying Unilocal,’cause they’re great but have such low reviews. Watch my review get filtered for saying this. One of the best Greek restaurants in Richmond. Recently, I tried Kisamos. I love them both, but I’ve been dining at George’s far longer. Get the lamb. I always get the lamb.

Oh how times have changed… When George’s was actually owned by George, this was the go to place for Greek food in Richmond. However, since the new ownership took over this place has been a sinking ship. Food: I have been here enough time to know what to expect and tried almost everything on the menu. I usually get the roasted lamb, but I won’t be doing that again. The roast lamb isn’t even something I would feed to my dog. It was over-cooked, and other pieces of it were under-cooked, to the point where you could see the fat. The souvlaki isn’t much better; I generally get the chicken, and you can tell the meat is processed, it tastes like oil and cardboard. The décor has remain unchanged even under new ownership — it’s a little tacky but that’s what you’ve grown to expect from George’s. The service is average at best, for a place this small there you’d think the service would be better due to the establishment’s small size. Although I have been coming here for year, this will be my last time.

service was very slow and inattentive. server forgot to bring pita for one person in our party. received my order much later than the other three people in my party, and only after reminding restaurant staff. food was ok, but not worth a return trip.

Out of towners visiting Steveston for the weekend, we are moderately familiar with Greek food, but by no means experts… But can clearly say this is the worst Greek food we’ve had in recent memory. The lamb was OK but the garlic tiger«prawns» were really just small pre frozen shrimp that were sauteed in fat and salt. lots of salt… as in burn the back of our throat and send you into an immediate migraine salt… super delicious. lol anyways the store bought pita bread was the best part. thanks George!

I came here on Sunday since Kisamos only opened at 4 pm and I really was craving greek food, so I walked in and ordered the lamb souvlaki lunch. Now if I had to talk about the service I would have given the place 5 stars as the service was very good, but the food wasnt that great, the lamb was dry and lacked flavor, the rice was tasteless and the vegetables in the rice were old. I hate to give bad reviews to places with great service but it is what it is, sorry George’s but you didnt cut it for me, next time im in Steveston maybe I will wait a little longer next time and hit up Kisamos down the street. xx

I used to love going to George’s for the George’s Fries(french fries with onions, feta cheese, olive oil) and the souvlaki… and it all changed for me around 2011… the tables are left uncleared and dirty. the servers are untrained… u can tell George doesn’t care and isn’t holding the staff to any standard. It used to be great, and could still be, but it’s not anymore. I stopped going.

I love George’s. They have the best greek potatoes and I have tried a variety of places. Also, they are great since I have to specialize my order and they don’t blink an eye nor do they charge me more money for putting extra tzatiki on my wrap like some other places do. I go to the take out window 99% of the time since I walk my dog in Steveston. Great service and humour without all the touchy-feely intrusive stuff. Thanks George’s!

This is one of two Greek restos in Steveston. I prefer the food quality at its competitor, but this an okay spot if you want a really casual meal or something fast to go. Prices are average and I tend to come here when I’m wanting a pita/sandwich type of wrap with gyros meat since the other greek resto in the area does not offer that on its menu. I agree with the other reviewer that the seasoning and marinades could be stronger. I like their fries though — always hot and crispy!

I ordered take out from the little window for a late lunch; I was craving some Greek food. I ordered the chicken souvlaki lunch and the George’s fries. The fries were good but underseasoned. Actually, everything was underseasoned. For the tzatziki, it seemed like they only waved garlic at it rather than adding it to the sauce. The lemon potatoes were good and tangy but the food here definitely not worth the cost.
